Nacho Libre was the #1 movie in Mexico this weekend. Silver King will start popping up quite a bit starting this weekend. In the most predictable turn of events, someone’s started wrestling as Nacho Libre, in Arena Solidaridad.

AAA latest news update hypes the Atomicos match (though they may have done that last time and I forgot), and how they actually push their mini division. They list Mascarita Sagrada, Octagoncito, La Parkita, Mini Path Finder, Rocky Marvin, Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Psicosis, Mini Chessman, Jerrito Estrada, Mascarita Divina and Mini Charly Manson (no relation to the Chicago one) as being in the division. I post the list so I can quickly check to see who I don’t have on the roster. I guess Prince Star got dropped? Rudopolis’ Tuco believes Mini Charly Manson and Mascarita Divina are the former Mini Sky Black and Mini Nova, last seen on the 06/30 Puebla taping.

Box Y Lucha #2779 has a cover of Perro Aguayo Jr. being crazy, and Rey Mysterio returning to Mexico. As noted yesterday, Rey’s only for an autograph signing, not for the RAW tour; the WWE plan was apparently to run very big arenas with a normal house show lineup. That wouldn’t work in the US, and it doesn’t appear to work in Mexico, so they’ve moved the tour to normal sized arenas. It’ll be interesting to see what they draw, with the novelty probably not being there as strong and no one who’s a star based on their lucha work. (Val Venis does work the openers, but he’s just there to job to a new guy and, looking back at the attendance figures, I’m not sure he was really a star.) I think it’s a mistake not to somehow include Rey; he seems as hot in Mexico as he’s ever been (because Mexico knows he’s was champ and doesn’t know/care about how his reign went), to the point where if he dropped out WWE today and resuming wrestling in Mexico full time, I think he’d sell out buildings for quite a while.
There’s Lucha Libre on Fox Sports recaps quite all over the ‘net:
* Victor Martinez @ his site) (and PWI, but less ads on his blog)
* Jose Payan @ F4)
*
Scott Decker @ WO

Victor’s also got a AAA recap from this past weekend. I’m going to attempt to link to recaps elsewhere more often, but every time I say this, I forget about it within 3 days.

DVDVR #158 has a lot of lucha content, including a recap of the 2006.05.13 Dragonmania show @ Arena Mexico.

I’d like to catch up on GdR and AAA (and mail), but it may not happen till this weekend.

Lineups are below.
