GdR 31 IDs

They don’t do the usual “picture with a name” graphics for the cibernetico and they actually never list the guys involved, so you have to pay attention to the ring announcer to get names. There’s some people who haven’t been on much, and others who haven’t been on except Stellar Moments. So, here’s a quick who’s who.

Group A:
Tony Rivera: larger, older, unmasked man
Stuka Jr.: red pants with no top, pilot looking mask with goggles
Valiente: green and black outfit. Short/stout compared to the others
Neutron: Black and lightning bolts; looks inspired by the Rayo de Jalisco family (though he’s not a member)
Loco Max: Bald, short, easy to pick out

Group B:
La Mascara: Black out fight with gold features, including a big “M” on his face.
Mascara Purpura: full body red outfit with white features. Skinny.
Danger: Yellow outfit with red lines
Oro II: Black with a big gold lines
Leono: Younger thinner long haired man

And the deal with the cage match is particpants are not allowed to escape till the match goes five minutes (or sometimes ten or fifteen, but it’s closer to 5 here; they might have started the clock when the fighting started?) That’s why Maximo keeps trying to leave, could leave and stops – the officals are telling him no.

GdR #31

Quick! Hopefully I didn’t leave a typo up.

Reyes del Air good but not in the same sentence as the last one. Cage match fine for that sort of thing.

I’ll do a “Who’s who in the Reyes del Air” a bit later for those who don’t know the undercarders by heart; they never do put up a graphic.

AAA’s airing the scheulded episode as a I speak.

06/24: GdR, Arena Mexico results

Airing right now on Guerreros del Ring:
* La Mascara, Tony Rivera, Stuka Jr., Oro II, Neutron, Leono, Danger, Valiente, Mascara Purpura, Loco Max [Reyes del Aire, ciber] (battle royal 2:29, ciber 18:09 w/one break)
* Okumura, Rey Bucanero, Negro Casas, Heavy Metal, Universo 2000, Terrible, Tarzan Boy, Máximo [cage of death, hair]

CMLL (FRI) 06/23 Arena Mexico Results
1) Neutron, Tigre Metalico b Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X
Neutron replaced Rey Tigre
2) Hombre Sin Nombre, Nitro, Sangre Azteca b Mascara Purpura, Pantera, Sagrado
3) Felino, La Mascara, Volador Jr. b Averno, Mephisto, Misterioso II
As noted, Averno & Volador got hurt on a Spanish Fly gone bad; they ended up falling to the outside of the ring, so something must’ve been quite wrong. Latest word is that they’re outside danger and have no fractures, but they’re certaintly hurting. Post match, Felino challenged Mephisto to a CMLL Welterweight match
4) Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000 b Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero
Ultimo cheated to pull this one out. Post match, Rey challenged Ultimo to a CMLL LH match.
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Hijo de Lizmark DQ Hector Garza, Kenzo Suzuki, LA Park
Another brawl, with all the reports mentioning how Park recklessly threw a bucket of beer bottles in Wagner’s general direction. Park used a low blow in the third and almost got away with it. Post match, Park challenged Wagner to a UWA Heavyweight match. This one sounds like it’s signed for next week.

06/23: Mexico preview

There’s an interview with Porky in Ovaciones. He’d been in CMLL for 20 years before the jump. Porky plans on fulfilling his already scheduled dates booked thru CMLL: 06/29 in Naucalpan (IWRG), 07/02 in Denver for the Eddie G tribute show, 07/08 and 07/09 in Oaxaca, and 07/17 in Puebla.

Kenzo Suzuki talked to the paper as well. I’ve managed to ignore his return to Arena Mexico all week. It was fun to pretend.

CMLL (FRI) 06/23 Arena Mexico
1) Rey Tigre, Tigre Metalico vs Arkangel, Dr. X
2) Mascara Purpura, Pantera, Sagrado vs Hombre Sin Nombre, Nitro, Sangre Azteca
3) Felino, La Mascara, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Mephisto, Misterioso II
4) Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero vs Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Hijo de Lizmark vs Hector Garza, Kenzo Suzuki, LA Park

Like always, Kenzo wants to take out Dos. Either they announce something for Jucio Final tonight or it’s off entirely, and I’m not sure what they’d do on one week notice (don’t suggest Dos vs Kenzo.)

indy (FRI) 06/23 Palenque del Hipodromo de Tijuana Lineup [KrisZ]
1) Manicomio & Wama vs Phantom & Transformer
2) Animaniac & Yarak vs Dimension & Spyder Black
3) El Ninja, Rayman, Mr. Tempest vs El Diablo, Mortiz, TJ Boy
4) Hijo del Santo, Rayo de Jalisco, Rey Misterio vs Angel Blanco Jr., Blue Demon Jr., Hijo del Solitario
This is Rey Misterio’s 30th anniversary; he’s wearing the old mask for the match.

The Christian Science Monitor visits CHIKARA’s school to learn about lucha libre. (It turns out to be tough!) By the way, when the day comes where CMLL turns rudo on me, we’re switching this to a CHIKARA blog.
