06/25: Accion

Accion highlights
CMLL: semimain event trios fun. Atlantis has green gear now. They highlight Ultimo doing the powerbomb/delayed feet on the ropes.

AAA: La Parka vs Muerte Cibernetica from Triplemania, though they list him here as “Mascara”. Everyone and their moms got invovled. Finish saw Sect pull out (don’t call me) Hijo de Tirantes, but Tirantes recover to count it. There probably was a wrestling move involved, who can say. They do show the unmasking.

BTW, Box Y Lucha (probably among others) has a cover shot of the unmasked Muerte Cibernetica.

Virus’s stint in AJPW’s Jr. Singles League (which should be read as “AJPW doing a small scale version of NJPW’s Super J”) started today with a loss to Takemura. His next tournament match is on 06/28 vs Katsuhiko Nakajima, and his final match (only 4 people per block) is on 06/30 versus Masada. I’ve got a chart that’ll be updated thru out the tournament, because that’s what I do.

FWIW, and IIRC, the way the AAA TV show ended was the way it was supposed to end; it wasn’t as much a tournament as two trios matches. And the Grand Traitor was never actually revealed on this show after the build. Fine story effort all around. I got about 1 hour thru the show this weekend, and I hope to kill the recap off tommorow.

You can find Coliseo results at the usual place, but I’ll wait till Monday to cover that. I suspect that tommorow’s update will be a bit late.

As promised, I’ve uploaded the Reyes del Air match:

(fix the link to get it)

I’m gonna post this at DVDVR, and I wouldn’t expect the link to work for more than a day or two. And, honestly, the more I think about and compare it to last year’s, it’s not really that special. It’s a good match, but doens’t live up to last year fest.

At the same time, it’s a lesser collection of talent; last year’s had Ricky, Volador, Virus, Misterioso and even Alan Stone all in big roles, and none of them were around or used here.

There’s also guys that would’ve helped both years – Averno, Sangre, that kid with the silver mask – who weren’t used. They did better last year, and they could’ve done better with this one.

They don’t do the usual “picture with a name” graphics for the cibernetico and they actually never list the guys involved, so you have to pay attention to the ring announcer to get names. There’s some people who haven’t been on much, and others who haven’t been on except Stellar Moments. So, here’s a quick who’s who.

Group A:
Tony Rivera: larger, older, unmasked man
Stuka Jr.: red pants with no top, pilot looking mask with goggles
Valiente: green and black outfit. Short/stout compared to the others
Neutron: Black and lightning bolts; looks inspired by the Rayo de Jalisco family (though he’s not a member)
Loco Max: Bald, short, easy to pick out

Group B:
La Mascara: Black out fight with gold features, including a big “M” on his face.
Mascara Purpura: full body red outfit with white features. Skinny.
Danger: Yellow outfit with red lines
Oro II: Black with a big gold lines
Leono: Younger thinner long haired man

And the deal with the cage match is particpants are not allowed to escape till the match goes five minutes (or sometimes ten or fifteen, but it’s closer to 5 here; they might have started the clock when the fighting started?) That’s why Maximo keeps trying to leave, could leave and stops – the officals are telling him no.
