GdR #28, GdR #29, AAA 05/20

GdR 06/03; Too much Rey, not enough Blanco and Metalico. this was actually up last week but I kept it a secret
GdR 06/10; hair match was disappionting.
AAA 05/20; 1 for 5 in matches; better or worse than you had figured?

By the way, the AAA recap length is the length I’d really like all my recaps to be.

By the way (2), MONOPOLY COLORS. It’s kinda awesome.

The aim is to get enough tommorow that I don’t hate the world when I post my lag list. I’m probably going after the AAA recaps first, because I’m watching most of it in fast forward, and it’s quick to finish that way.

I need to redo the AAA index, but I may have to do it in alternate way.

  1. Match finishes that invalidate the 15 minutes of wrestling that came before it, ‘good’ matches which turn into spot exhibitions without the pretense of a competition, storylines that drag on with no progression or end, rules and logic not applied, general lack of interest in most of their wrestlers…

Really, though, I thought I was mild on AAA in that one. Much close to ‘disinterested’ than ‘hate’; I’ve been at ‘hate’ for other show and promotions of late, and this was just a “how fast can I have the video go while still be able to follow the action?” kinda thing. This was no Rey de Reyes AAA level hatred, for sure. Robert’s totally got back me up on this.

  2. I’m actually impressed, I thought cubs used to hate AAA but now at least it seems he has SOME tolerance for it. I’ll continue not to understand how AAA got 1 out of 5 though since I assume the 1 was for the mini’s but nothing bad was said about the 4th match which I thought was pretty great (although the one the week after was ten times better).

Cubs’ points about AAA are pretty dead on. (aside from storylines that drag on *cough* AtlantisvsWagner,CaposvsDinamitas,PerrovsUniverso,MisticovsGuerreros *cough*)

I’ve said it many times… you have to “get” the AAA product in order to enjoy it. It’s much like a Puroresu fan tuning into Lucha for the first time ever. Where are the strikes? Where are the nearfalls? Where’s the epic singles match for the title?

I think cubs will come around eventually, maybe after I send the next batch of CMLL over and he realizes he can watch and review an entire show in the span of 35 minutes.:)

The most important thing for me when watching wrestling is seeing guys working hard or exceeding expectations. I don’t get that with CMLL any more. I see guys who have tons of potential just coming to the realization that they can do as little as possible and get away with it. That does nothing for me. I don’t care if the TV has Blue Panther vs Ultimo Guerrero in the Arena Mexico main event if they only go out there for 3 falls in 12 minutes. Whereas on the other show I see something like Alebrije/Billy Boy/Zorro vs Monster/Apache/Manson and even though those guys aren’t as talented as Panther/Guerrero – they’ll be working ten times harder and that’s what gets me into a match.

On a final note – monopoly colors = AWESOME! I’m ashamed I didn’t catch on.

    Rob
