El Halcon #65 is up. Inside:
– Interview with Satanico. He was DQed in his first ever match – perhaps for faking a low blow? He got the Satanico name and gimmick from a Ian Fleming 007 novel. (It’s “El Satanico Dr. No” in Spanish versions.) His debut match in Mexico City was a tag match against Spiderman, which I find awesome for some reason. Satanico talks about being CMLL’s head trainer, Averno & Mephisto, and his dislike of people training wrestlers who have no business doing it. Satanico believes the high flying lucha libre will never displace mat wrestling; everyone’s always going to have to learn how to do that.
– Recaps of the last two Sundays of action in Arena Queretaro. Ursus retained the Q State Heavyweight championship, and Wild Kiss beat Halcon Fuego for his mask.
– Interview with Pantera. Pantera says he started his career unmasked, and then, figuring he needed a better identity, he and others came up with the Pantera look. The first championship he won, and one of his best memories, is the Mexico State Lightweight title he beat Baby Richard at age 17. He seems to hate his AAA stint.
– Interview with Oro II. This Oro II is the former Excalibur. He explains he, not Black Warrior, was slated to be Bronce, but they felt he was too skinny. After he became Excalibur, Oro told the people at a press confrence that he’d one day be Oro II, so he’s living up to those words. Plata is retired due to injuries, and Oro II was retired for about 4 years to recover from his own (spine) injuries. They’re making a movie about Oro’s life, and they hope to have it in theatres by mid 2007.
– recap of AAA in Queretaro on 06/16. Sounds like a normal house show, except for El Brazo dressing up like Zumbido.
– interview with Mesala and Caligula! The gimmick was Tony Salazar’s idea, who realized they’d work well as a team. They’re looking for a championship chance – tag or singles – or a mask match with the Tapatios. Caligula warns us to stay off drugs.

Box Y Lucha’s cover is LA Park rippign Wagner’s mask. Poster has Lizmark and Rey Bucanero.

Virus has stayed in Japan in between AJPW dates, and is teaching the trainees lucha libre and Spanish.

El Hijo del Santo signed a deal with Cartoon Network Latin America to license the Santo image on clothes and other products. No specifics, and the usual desire to eventually expand to the US.

Brazo de Plata starts up as a AAA tecnico on Sunday in Arena Coliseo Monterrey.

GdR #28, GdR #29, AAA 05/20

GdR 06/03; Too much Rey, not enough Blanco and Metalico. this was actually up last week but I kept it a secret
GdR 06/10; hair match was disappionting.
AAA 05/20; 1 for 5 in matches; better or worse than you had figured?

By the way, the AAA recap length is the length I’d really like all my recaps to be.

By the way (2), MONOPOLY COLORS. It’s kinda awesome.

The aim is to get enough tommorow that I don’t hate the world when I post my lag list. I’m probably going after the AAA recaps first, because I’m watching most of it in fast forward, and it’s quick to finish that way.

I need to redo the AAA index, but I may have to do it in alternate way.
