LA Park suspended

It’s going around!

CMLL.com posted an modified Arena Mexico lineup for this Friday, with an explaination that LA Park was suspended for his actions in the main event last week. That match appeared to be a complete mask ripping brawl, with Park beating down Wagner with chair shots before he even made it to the ring. (You could see where CMLL had grounds for such an action.) Interestingly, there are changes to the card which seem unrelated to LA Park.

The old card:
1) Bam Bam, Shockercito, Ultimo Dragonicto vs Fire, Mini Violencia, Pierrothito
2) Dark Angel, Marcela, Mima Shimoda vs Amapola, Hiroka, Medusa
3) Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas vs Averno, Mephisto, Rey Bucanero
4) Mistico, Mr. Niebla, Ultimo Dragon vs Apolo Dantes, Black Warrior, Tarzan Boy
5) Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Hijo de Lizmark vs Atlantis, LA Park, Ultimo Guerrero

The new card:
1) Bam Bam, Shockercito, Ultimo Dragonicto vs Fire, Mini Violencia, Pierrothito
2) Dark Angel, Marcela, Mima Shimoda vs Amapola, Hiroka, Medusa
3) Blue Panther, Mr. Niebla, Último Dragón vs Apolo Dantés, Misterioso II, Tarzan Boy
4) Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas vs Averno, Mephisto, Rey Bucanero
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Hijo de Lizmark, Mistico vs Atlantis, Black Warrior, Último Guerrero

With no Park around, they’ve bumped up both Mistico and Black Warrior to be the main event rivalary, and they’ve switched the 3rd and 4th matches because the new tercera doens’t have an issue.

2006 Gran Alternativa teams

Teams for Gran Alternativa have been announced

* Heavy Metal & Texano Jr.
* Negro Casas & Maximo
* Dos Caras Jr. & Volador Jr.
* Lizmark Jr. & Mascara Purpura
* Rey Bucanero & Loco Max
* Perro Aguayo Jr. & Misterioso II
* Hector Garza & Hombre Sin Nombre (note that Garza is actually younger than HsSafari)
* Ultimo Guerrero & Nitro

Sangre Azteca is no longer listed (replaced by Nitro); have fun in Japan!

While I don’t think Loco Max is winning this, I think his chances of making the final got better. And even if Rey turns again this week (which I sorta figure he will), he’ll at be a rudo for at least one meek more.

There’s not an obvious winner to me. Maximo makes sense in some ways, but they’ve already moved him up on spot shows and the like – he doesn’t need the benefit. It’s too soon for Purpura (though I’d rather see guys like him and Rey Tigre in here rather than Safari.) Safari, Loco and Nitro are guys stuck on the midcard treadmill and it’d be a shock for them to break loose. Texano won the G1 Junior last year and they didn’t really do much follow up, so it’d hard to believe he’d win another tournament.

Volador Jr. vs Misterioso would make since as a final to set up a singles feud, but their partners don’t match up too well. They seem to like both guys, and I think they join Maximo as the better possibilites, but there’s no particular momenteum behind either one of them.

Tournament is 06/02.

Lists and such

These all should probably go in better places, but better to get them together now and sort them later.

old Dr. Lucha news/reports (via Superpsicosis lucha libre via archive.org); these are all the ones listed on that page (of course not all done), and I probably should dig thru Google.Groups to find more.

05/23 news: Publea results

CMLL (MON) 05/22 Arena Puebla Results [el martinete]
1) Ares, Mr. Rafaga b Fenix, Super Star
2) Asturiano, Blue Center, Iron b Fuerza Chicana, Fuerza Tiger, Furia Chicana
3) Batman, Maximo, Volador Jr. b Blade, Nitro, Skandalo
4) Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Aguila, Terrible b La Mascara, Mistico, Negro Casas
Perro pinned Mistico with his feet on the ropes.
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. b Último Guerrero [UWA Heavy]
Clean victory – I think a Wagner Driver to win it, and Ultimo got a backboard ride out.

This Saturday, the San Diego Padres will be giving away Padres themed wrestling masks to the first 10,000 fans at the game in a cross promotion for Nacho Libre. Jack Black is throwing out the first pitch.

Having gotten bored with beating up ROH folk (I assume), Chris Hero and Claudio Castignoli are back in Mexico during the early portion of June.

CMLL (SUN) 05/21 Arena Coliseo Results
1) Bam Bam, Ultimo Dragoncito b Mini Violencia, Pierrothito
2) Kronos, Sensei, Tony Rivera b Apocalipsis, Arkangel, Hooligan
3) Chamaco Torres, el Hijo del Pierroth, Loco Max b Máximo, Oro II, Virus
Chamaco Torres filled in for Okumura, and Oro II made his return to Arena Coliseo to replace Volador Jr. I figure this was more than a last second replacement, since I don’t see Oro II’s name outside Guadalajara all that much, but I don’t know.
4) La Máscara, Lizmark Sr., Volador Jr. b Máscara Año 2000, Misterioso II, Universo 2000
Volador Jr. got bumped up to here to replace Ultimo Dragon.
5) Dos Caras Jr., Heavy Metal, Negro Casas b Averno, Mephisto, Rey Bucanero
Rey did not get along with his partners, and was pals with the tecnicos by the end of the match. Problem for him is he’s teaming with the same rudos on Friday.
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Mistico b Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero
Atlantis and Ultimo won the first, but Wagner and Mistico won the second, and the third clean.

Univision has Cibernetico’s side of the feud with Kawaghi. It is a great, great interview – go click on the link and translate itself, because I did that and I still don’t quite believe the greatness.

Cibernetico explains he’s long been a boxing fan, and was angry with Kawaghi for killing boxing in Mexico by buying fights and other corruption, and Kawaghi was bad mouthing Cibernetico in the green room. Kawaghi eventually accused Cibernetico of using steroids (!!!! and so on), and Cibernetico could not let his honor be stained in such a manner. He HAD to punch him. Kawaghi then used his political influnce to get Pena to suspend Cibernetico for six months. Basically, the Man is keeping Cibernetico down.

Cibernetico scoffs at those who accuse this of being a fake. He’s a professional who’d never lower himself to fabrications. Cibernetico also does not want a match with Kawaghi, because Kawaghi would have no idea how to defend himself in a wrestling ring – it’d be a slaughter.

Cibernetico notes HE was also invited to host the same show Latin Lover’s hosting, but he’s set on being a full time wrestler – not some part time guy with no credibility like Latin. (His words!) Also, he doesn’t dance.

El Halcon #62 is up. Inside
– Black Warrior talks about his feud with Mistico; it was Mistico’s fault they broke up, he feels more at home on the rudo side (and he’s more popular that way), and he took the championship win as proof of his skill. He’s not afraid of a mask match.
– Report from Arena Queretaro. They note that Zayco and Prince Valiente Jr. seem headed to a mask match.
– Interview with the FBI. Stamboli says the passion of the Mexican fans is great – almost as great as Italians. Jindrak says Rey and Eddie had told him about wrestling in Mexico, but to live it is something different. They plan on being back in two months. It’d be funny if Jindrak got a developmental deal by then and Stamboli had to find yet another ‘Italian’.
– Interview with Artillero. While he was training with CMLL and Tony Salazar, Salazar suggest he think of a masked gimmick which would work well with his brother (Super Comando.) So that’s how he came up with the gimmick. He and Super Comando are always working in the gym to come up with new moves
– Recap of the 05/14 Merida, Yucatan legends show.
– Interview with Fire. Talks about starting out in Monterrey. He’s training every third day for three hours, both Olympic style and professional style. His favorite partner is Sombrita, and he’d like to have a favorite rival, but all the mini tecnicos are scared of him – particularly Mini Olimpico, since he has the belt and won’t give Fire a shot at it.
– luchistica addiction talks about Ultimo winning the Gran Prix, Olimpico’s injury and Warrior winning the belt.
– Negro Sosa bio

Magazines
– Box y Lucha’s cover has Park ripping up Wagner’s mask from Friday.
– Guerrero del Ring’s cover has a great photo of Mistico pointing from the Heavens.
– Lucha 2000’s cover focuses on Wagner/Park and Rey’s teased turn, but also has the only picture of Olimpico in a cast.
– Super Lucha’s cover also goes the Wagner/Park route. There’s more scans from inside the magazine posted in this thread, though you might have to be logged into see them. Alt link: Dr. Kaoma.

Dos Caras (Sr.) has a chat on box y lucha Tuesday at 2 pm.
