Luchawiki has been up and down all holiday weekend. We’re bugging support about it.
CMLL (SUN) 05/28 Arena Coliseo Results
1) Bracito de Oro, Mini Olímpico b Fire, Sombrita
2) Apocalipsis, Hooligan, Ramstein b Chamaco Valaguez Jr., Kronos, Sensei
3) Dr. X, Masada, Nitro b Rey Tigre, Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metálico
One of the Tigres got stretchered out.
4) Hombre Sin Nombre, Loco Max, Shigeo Okumura b Mascara Purpura, Máximo, Virus
Maximo and Loco Max are building up a hair match. Figure THAT into your GA predictions.
5) Black Warrior, el Hijo del Pierroth, Emilio Charles Jr. b La Máscara, Lizmark Sr., Pantera
6) Heavy Metal, Mistico, Negro Casas b Rey Bucanero, Tarzan Boy, Último Guerrero
Tarzan and Ultimo turned on Rey, beating him up, ripping off his Guerrero tights, and tossing him out of the ring. They’re done. :(
CMLL.com says Oro II will get a match at Arena Mexico soon (though not this week.) They, like most everyone else, expect this week’s Arena Mexico tag match (Wagner/Mistico vs Atlantis/Warrior.)
Box Y Lucha has posted an article on it’s forum (unusual), with the headline of “[El Dandy] wants to return to Arena Mexico”. The article is actually more of a “what El Dandy has been up to lately” (opening a new gym for his school), but I’m guessing he’ll get his wish. Dandy’s the Mexican Light Heavyweight champion, the only Mexican national championship that’s semi-active and held by a person not aligned with CMLL or AAA (because it was supposed to be an ENSEMA thing, right?)
Super Luchas 163’s cover is bloody Rey Mysterio. Inside pages can be found here
Sangre in NJPW!
05/27 Super J: Taguchi beats Sangre
05/29 Super J: Sangre beats Fuego
The Azteca de Oro appears to be a middle rope over the shoulder backbreaker into a faceslam. I’m guessing I’ve seen the move from him and have completely forgot.
Virus is headed to Japan, starting in the middle of Japan. He’s scheduled to work a Nosawa promoted show (loosely affilated with AJPW) on 06/16 – he teams with Akira to take on Kaz Hayashi & TAKA Michioku. He’s also scheduled to take part in a Junior Singles League on the 06/25 to 07/03 tour. CMLL irregulars Masada and Takemura are part of the League, so I’ll keep an eye on it next month.
Triple A’s seems to confirms Abismo Negro, Oriental, Charly Manson, Psicosis II and Angel are going to NOAH in Japan (as opposed to some other mysterious NOA) for two weeks, though they don’t say when. I can’t imagine how that’s going to work.
While Perro and Hector are working this week’s Arena Mexico show as part of the Gran Alternativa tournament and team with Terrible to main event Sunday’s Coliseo show, Perros del Mal has seem de-emphasized since taking that double loss to the Guerreros (CMLL LH, double hair), with Perro and Hector rarely appearing in DF. It could just be because they’re working on Mistico/Warrior, Wagner/Park and Rey’s turn more, but does anyone else have more info about it? Strikes me as odd.
El Halcon has a story on Mil Mascara facing Canek in Rio Bravo.
The New York Times had a story about Nacho Libre over the weekend, but it’s not freely available over the web. It’s a pretty good lucha libre background piece, explaining what Nacho Libre is spoofing. From Parts Unknown gets linked in the article (and that’s probably why it’s down today.) (Thanks to mikeinformer)
By the way, I’m still looking for a way to see Nacho Libre free and early. One of those is slightly more important. If you can help, let me know.
Lineup notes
– In a “how fast can this car go?” situation, Mistico/Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Atlantis/Black Warrior is scheduled to be the main event of Arena Mexico and Arena Lopez Mateos on Friday night – and both shows are listed as started at the same time. That’ll be interesting. La Mascara and Maximo are also working the double shot.
– AAA’s taping TV on Wednesday with a Parka/Murte super libre main event, and on Sunday with a Parka/Muerte street fight. Suspended Cibernetico is working at least one taping.
– On Saturday, there’s a benefit show for Ham Lee, Leo Loepz and Scorpio Sr. at Deportivo Ocenia. Santo’s working the show.
– Villanos face the Brazos for the “Americas Tag” titles on Saturday
– Chicago commercial icon Eagleman is also wrestling in Arena Lopez Mateos on Friday.
– Chicago wrestling needs a post of it’s own.
