Lucha Times

All normal times. I forget what normal was!

Saturday: Universo vs Halloween in the main event, part 1 of II. This is Diana la Cazadora’s debut

Sunday: We should be making the big jump in weeks again, up to with the Mexico Trios change.

GdR: I hope they don’t take anything from the Sunday undercard, because it’s not very appealing.

04/19 news: Coliseo results, Kids Day lineup

CMLL (TUE) 04/18 Arena Coliseo Results [alexis/ova]
1) Apocalipsis, Artillero, Ramstein b Sensei, Spider Kid, Valiente
Spider Kid made his debut and got hurt. That’s not the way to go.
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Nitro b Starman, Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metálico
3) Hijo de Pierroth, Hombre sin Nombre, Pierroth b Lizmark, Sagrado, Satanico
A Pierroth fouled Satanico, pinned him, and challenged him to a hair match – I hope it’s not the Pierroth who’s facing Dr. Wagner in a mask match.
4) Dr. Wagner, Hijo de Lizmark, Silver King b Black Warrior, Olimpico, Tarzan Boy
As you can see, Silver King is wearing Dr. Wagner Jr. gear, but he’s not wearing a mask – at least in CMLL DF rings.
5) Mistico b Atlantis
Two falls, both with mask pulling; Atlantis got caught in the first, and Mistico did not in the second.

CMLL announced the card for the 04/30 (SUN) Kids Day show, which will be held at Arena Mexico

CMLL (SUN) 04/30 Arena Coliseo Lineup
1) Sombra de Plata & Valiente vs Super Comando & Ramstein
2) Virus, Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico vs Loco Max, Hooligan, Arkangel
3) Satanico, La Mascara, Sagrado vs Misterioso II, Nitro, Hombre sin Nombre
4) Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Volador Jr. vs Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Olimpico
5) LA Park, Mistico, Negro Casas, Heavy Metal vs Perro Aguayo Jr., Hector Garza, Damian 666, Mr. Aguila

No Black Warrior/Mistico, but I couldn’t believe it’d actually happen here – they’re going to pack the building at a discounted price anyway, might as well save that match. (Not that I’m sure they’ll actually DO that match at this point.) I think it’s a nice touch that they’re doing zero rudo/rudo matches; even los Perros are going against the tecnicos of tecnicos.

Comingsoon.net has interview with Jack Black’s tag team partner in Nacho Libre, Hector Jimenez.

04/18 news: Puebla, Box Y Lucha

CMLL (MON) 04/17 Arena Puebla Results [hugo999]
1) Iron, King Jaguar b La Mafia, Murcielago
2) Siki Ozama, Super Comando, Toro Bill Jr. b Fuerza Chicana, Fuerza Tigre, Furia Chicana
3) Bobby Jack, Cerebro Negro, Enterrador 2000 b Asturiano, Stuka Jr., the Tigre
4) Averno, Damian 666, Mephisto b Felino, La Mascara, Sagrado
5) Dos Caras Jr., Heavy Metal, Mistico DQ Rey Bucanero, Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero
Averno & Mephisto got involved.

Ovaciones has yesterday’s articles still up.

GdR #31 has a big picture of Vampiro on the front.

A paper in Hidalgo has an article about Fray Tormenta‘s work outside the ring.

The poster for Box Y Lucha 2762 has pictures of Dark Angel & Hombre Sin Nombre. Stories inside:
– A few different articles on Rey Mendoza, three years after his death. He was hurt many times; the scariest one is the first time he took a backbreaker in practice – he was left quadriplegic for six months. Rambo talks about facing him in 1975 in Arena Naucalpan; Rambo lost his hair, but it was the best fight of the year.
– Rayo de Jalisco is asked if he’s gone from CMLL, and he’s not sure. He talks up the virtues of being independent.
– Quick preview of Wagner/Pierroth. Pierroth’s counting 15 hairs he’s won.
– Interview with Rey Solomon, who’s listed as a star from Arena Mexico in the 80’s, talks about his career and complains about today’s wrestlers not training enough before getting in the ring.
– Metro explains his recent disappearance. He knew he must get better, so he traveled to South America and ran in the mountains to get greater endurance. Metro feels he’s better prepared now. He hopes to put on good performances and challenge for the Light Heavyweight championship.
– Interview with Johnny Villalobos, who’s Martha’s brother. He was in AAA, but left because it wasn’t his style.
– An article about family members who’ve feuded:
* Enrique Vera and the Killer
* Alan Stone & Chris Stone (when Chris was Motocross)
* Rossy, Cinthia and Alda Moreno
* the Brazos (Oro, Plata, and El)
* Silver King and Black Tiger
* Charly Manson & Electro Shock
– There’s a story about lucha union leaders and lucha fan club leaders trying to figure out a way to create a pension for disabled former wrestlers.
– A start of a series of articles on the starts of the old Televicentro show.

04/17 news: NGX, lineups

Sunday’s Arena Coliseo results are one post down. Ovaciones reports says Marcela vs Hiroka is signed for this Sunday, but that didn’t get out to the Box Y Lucha lineups or CMLL’s website as of yet.

Ovaciones also gives the CMLL explanation for no Warrior/Mistico mask match: they’re going to instead try to do it that Sunday, 04/30, if they can get Black Warrior to sign the contract. I think that means they’re not doing it – why would they do a Mistico mask match in the smaller arena? The only thing I could figure is CAN52 paying for the rights to the match, but there’s no indication of something like that. I think they’re just quietly shuffling it to the side, like Atlantis/Wagner.

NGX (SUN) 04/16 Croc Felix U. Gomez, Monterrey Results [rfc]
1) American Angel, Dark Angel b Ariel, India Sioux, La Nazi [elim, 1 NGX Women]
2) Sam Rinde b Dralion and Vertigo
3) Lord Byron b Insane
4) Kaientai b Xtreme Tiger and Dragon Shriyu and Morefo
5) Joe Lider, Nightmare b Damián 666, Sabu
Crazy Boy must’ve really been hurt, because they replaced him here too.

Box y Lucha #2762 has a picture of the new tag champs and a picture of Amapola without hair in her face.

Super Lucha #157 also has pictures of the new tag champs and unmaked Amapola. In an amazing concidence, after PWU and XLAW announced they were working together, Super Lucha has new expanded coverage of PWU. (Disclaimer: No matter how e-mails I get from PWU – you know, from the mailing list they put me on without actually asking me – I couldn’t tell you what state they promote in or care what state they promote in.)

Super Grafico #11 has photos from WrestleMania.

On the 04/16 Ultimo Dragon show, Dragon and Santo beat Atlantis & Black Warrior in 2 out of 3 falls. They announced a 06/23 show with Mil Mascaras involved in the main event. (Good luck with that.)

Over in New Japan, Sangre Azteca teamed up with Jushin Lyger on their 04/16 show to beat Tiger Mask IV and Taguchi, with Azteca pinning Taguchi for the win. Sangre teams up with Liger again on the next show (04/20), facing Liger’s allies Jado & Gedo. That’ll be awkward.

A lucha libre movie airs as part of the Antelope Valley (LA) Independent Film Festival.

This week’s lineups are below

04/16 news: Solitario, Coliseo results, Accion

LUCHAS 2000 (SAT) 04/15 Arena Coliseo Results [WON]
1) Ciberman, Rey Mariscal b Angel Perverso, Ciber Black
2) Dark Angel b Ariel and American Angel
No Diana, so they changed it to a three way.
3) Solar, Super Astro, Ultraman b Cuchillo, Kahoz, Rambo
4) Canek, Hijo del Solitario, Villano III DQ Angel Blanco Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Fishman Jr.
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., LA Park, Silver King DQ Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Sabu
reportedly a crazy brawl

CMLL (SUN) 04/16 Arena Coliseo Results [alexis]
1) Mini Violencia, Pierrothito b Bam Bam, Mini Starman
Mini Starman’s debut, filling in for Shockercito. He may be Shockercito for all I know.
2) Hiroka, Medusa, Rosa Negra b Lady Apache, Marcela, Sahori
This is an upset. Hiroka pinned Marcela and requested a shot at the title, which is also unexpected.
3) Brazo de Oro, Metro, Pantera b Dr. X, Mr. Mexico, Nitro
4) Lizmark, Sagrado, Satanico b Hombre Sin Nombre, Okumura, Pierroth
5) Olimpico, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero DQ Dr. Wagner Jr., Heavy Metal, Mistico
Ultimo’s masked got pulled off during La Mistica; not sure if Ultimo pulled it himself.

Accion highlights
CMLL: Negro & Mistico vs Averno & Mepshtio [CMLL TAG]. In the final fall, Mephisto’s eliminated somehow, Averno pins Negro with La Majistral, and we’re left with Averno and Mistico. I think you know how that one goes.
AAA: Cibernetico, Murte Cibernetica, Chessman vs La Parka Jr., Vampiro, Intocable from Tlahuelipan, Hidalgo – I don’t have a date for this one. Some amazing Tech TD here – they show us the skeletons on impact. Mini Chessman and Mini Parka get involved, and the DQ win gets called for the tecnicos.
