02/11 News: Arena Mexico Results, TV notes

CMLL (FRI) 02/10 Arena Mexico Results
1) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metálico b Apocalipsis, Ramstein
2) Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori
pushing Amapola vs Dark Angel
2) Blue Panther, LA Park, Mr. Niebla b Atlantis, Olímpico, Último Guerrero
4) Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Terrible b Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Lizmark Jr.
Dos was stretchered out, and his team couldn’t hold on 2 on 3. The story they’re going with is Dos hurt his own back giving the move to Mr. Aguila, and so he may need to change to a different finisher. CMLL says Terrible is a top prospect for the Perros, so maybe this is a long initiation.
5) Black Warrior, Mistico, Negro Casas b Averno, Mephisto, Tarzan Boy
Warrior and Mistico got clean wins in the third fall and a tag team title match was immediatly challenged and signed for next week. If Black Warrior’s ever going to turn rudo, this would be time to do it.

It looks like CMLL was cut down to only 50 minutes this week, so I don’t know how much will air. There’s also a “Ocult Secrets of Lucha Libre” special airing this weekend.

Dr. Wagner Jr. succesfully defended the UWA Heavyweight Title against Canek on Thursday.

Galavision aired the scheduled epsiode. On GdR:

02/03 Mexico: La Máscara, Pantera, Volador Jr. b Hombre Sin Nombre, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
02/05 Coliseo: Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr., Mistico, Mr. Niebla DQ Rey Bucanero, Tarzan Boy, Último Guerrero, Universo 2000

  1. Wooooooohoooooo!!

Ok, maybe i’m not quite that excited, but i’m pleased that Volador/Pantera/Azteca/HSN/Misterioso aired. Would have been a shame if that had been lost.

Next week Sangre is elevated to the tercera, mixing it with Wagner, Atlantis etc. which is pretty great if it’s a sign of things to come. Bad news is… so is La Mascara, but then that’s nothing new as he’s been there before. And if that ‘esmas’ site is in any way reliable, it looks like CMLL is back to 1:45 hrs next week, so it should air.

Even if it was just 50 minutes this week, it might still be OK as the only matches that looked in any way interesting were the 3 main events – and 2 of them will be shown on the usual programme, with the other hopefully on next weeks GdR.

Looks like the main event for the show that will air in 2 weeks has not been released yet, so i’d expect it to be a mano-a-mano coming from chalenges made after tomorrows main between Doc/Mistico/Dos V Ultimo/Atlantis/Canek. Doc or Mistico V Ultimo would be fun!

  2. And how could i forget the GdR main which also has the potential to be awesome!

Surely this show is going to be a must see! I’d be disappointed to say the least if this episode was anytihng less than great!

  3. I WIN THE GdR SWEEPSTAKES!:D Glad too b/c I wanted to see that Arena Mexico segunda.

The only match that aired on Galavision Mexico today was the main event. It was so weird b/c the entire first 15 minutes of the show was commercials + a short Momentos. What a waste of time.

So it looks like GdR next week will have the Dos Jr. injury match.

  4. Los Secretos was the old NBC Secrets of Pro Wrestling deal except in Spanish… It’s NOT getting over well on the Box y Lucha boards that they could have aired an extra hour of CMLL but instead chose to air this.

It also makes me very sad since a lot of Mexicans are still not “smartened up” to the business and are reacting very harshly to finding out the fact Lucha Libre is fake. Why ruin the fun for them? Pisses me off. Last thing we need is everyone in Mexico to turn into smart marks and have Crazzy Boy vs Joe Lider at Arena Mexico.

  5. I hate that Secrets of Pro Wrestling special, it really took out alot of the fun in wrestling knowing it wasn’t real.
