Ovaciones has a Tuesday Coliseo and Mexico preview.

Mascara Ano 2000 suffered a shoulder injury on Friday, and should be out three weeks to rest it, but the doctor noted he may not actually take the time off.

Box Y Lucha posted the transcript of the Santo interview.

Halcon Net has changed it schedule, due to time constraints, to the 1st, 10th, and 20th of each month. Next update is tommorow instead of today.

If you’re quite bored, you can read me trying to make a Why Rey Bucanero should jump to AAA point on DVDVR. I’d be thinking about the possiblities for a week, but hadn’t gotten it out in virtual print.

wiki software update

Starting by accident (I only meant to be testing it on another directory), I upgraded the mediawiki software which runs the luchawiki last night/this morning. Everything looks to be running fine and I’m hoping this takes care of some small problems we were having (the commeted out sections turning into garbage most of all.)

One thing that’s working now and hasn’t before is the RSS feed for Recent Changes– see what people are adding even when you’re not visiting the page.

El Hijo Del Santo chats on box y lucha

Highlights from Santo’s chant with Box Y Lucha. Seemed like a ton of questions for him and I got all of one thru, which I didn’t get the answer I wanted to out of it. As always, this is me reading the google translations and trying to make sense of them. Hopefully, I haven’t blown anything.

– Santo’s asked about a mask vs mask match with Hijo del Diablo – he says it goes all the way back to the UWA days and it’s about time for a conclusion. He talked about this match a few times – was this announced somewhere? Is he drumming up business?
– The same is asked about Blue Demon, and Santo says he’s ready if Demon will ever agree.
– Other guys he wouldn’t mind fighting in a mask match: Blue Panther, Ultimo Guerrero, Atlantis. He later cites Perro Aguayo Jr. as one of his main enemies too.
– Santo says it’s possible he could one day go to the WWE, but right now there’s no talks about it.
– Santo talks about the pride and responsibility to live up to the Santo name. Part of that responsibility is to make sure those who take the Santo name in the future are at the same level of the man who originally held that name, and he, without trying to offend, simply doesn’t feel Axxel is at that level. He doesn’t have any problems with Axxel as long as he’s using that name, and he’d be happy for him if he made it to CMLL someday. Santo’s trademarked his name and all the nicknames.
– Santo hopes to make another run in CMLL around mid June, but it may be July.
– Santo feels the best wrestlers are in CMLL, and the best of them are Panther, Wagner, Guerrero and Mistico. He adds Atlantis later on. He doesn’t put down AAA, but just says his tastes are currently in CMLL. He doesn’t like AAA’s mixed tags.
– Besides Negro Casas, Santo picks Eddie Guerrero and Octagon as his best partners. And he considers the WWC Tag match one of his best, of course – the dramatics and the crowd being so into it are a big factor.
– Santo says he’s partners with people he’s feuded with previously in LA Park and Negro Casas, but you never know when those things might reignite.
– A questioner plays the “the guys in the day were so much better” card, and Santo cites Negro Navarro, Blue Panther, Solar I, Ultimo Guerrero and others are just as technical guys just as good as those in the past.
– The comic has ended it’s run, but it was planned to only go 1-20. There’s talk of binding them together in a collection, and starting a new limited run. The cartoon’s in the same process – it was a limited run, the run went the limit, and they may do more with it.
– Santo thinks highly of Rey Mysterio Jr., noting that in a lot of ways, it’s harder to be a start in the US. Santo’s happy for him.
– Santo says everyone in lucha has their own diet and routine, and the only one he’d never try is the one of his good friend Super Porky.
– If you live in a city, Santo hopes to wrestle in that city soon. Trust me.
– Santo picks Latin Lover and Cibernetico as two guys who could do well in CMLL, among others
– If he had to lose his mask to someone, it’d be Mil Mascaras.

I’ll post a link to the transcript if/when they put one up.

02/27 news: Coliseo results, lineups

CMLL (SUN) 02/26 Arena Coliseo Results
1) Fantasy, Shockercito b Mini Damian 666, Mini Halloween
2) Apocalipsis, Arkangel de la Muerte, Flecha b Chamaco Valaguez Jr., Starman, Stuka Jr.
3) Dr. X, Nitro, Sangre Azteca b Brazo de Oro, Metro, Rey Tigre
Rey Tigre is from the Monterrey area and I thought debuting here; el halcon has this as his professional debut, which may otherwise speak as to what they’re paying in Monterrey.
4) Canek, Emilio Charles Jr., Olímpico b Brazo de Plata, Kronos, Lizmark Sr.
Kronos replaced Lizmark Jr.
5) Blue Panther, Mistico, Último Dragón b Atlantis, Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000
Two falls

Super Luchas #150’s cover focuses on Mistico teaming with…Axel. Also, they’ve got Perro vs Universo as happening on the anniversary show, which is as good as guess any. I still wouldn’t believe it until the week of the show.

On a radio show interview in Tampico, Blue Demon Jr., hyping up an upcming show last Friday, explained that the only reason Hijo del Santo beats him is because he pays off the referees or otherwise cheats. So now you know.

The guy working in Chicago this past weekend was not AAA’s Charly Manson – it’s Mini Charly Manson (or he may have changed to Charly Manson Jr.) and he’s a perfectly fine indy wrestler, it’s just not the same guy. I think the indy’s press release had it wrong so Dave Meltzer reported it wrong all week, so if that matters to you, now you know.

Lineup Highlights
– Three CMLL Titles defended: Heavyweight (Universo vs Niebla in Puebla), Tag Team (besides the Arena Mexico defense, La Mascara and Volador Jr. get a shot at Arena Aficion), and Female (Ampola facing Marcela tonight.)
– AAA’s TV taping is on 03/04, and this is the “someone’s turning on Pena” show. Didn’t Electroshock already at least tease as a rudo? Intocable and Alan Stone continue their feud in a cage, and this is leading to a hair match at Rey de Reyes.
– In what will surely be wacky, Chuck Palumbo and Johnny Stamboli work the big weekend Mexico City shows, including the Saturday Toryumon Coliseo show.
– Slightly more wacky foreigners Claudio Castignoli and Chris Hero appear in Coliseo Coacalco.

accion, 02/26

Accion aired clips of Cien Caras’s involvement on Friday. Both he and Apolo were wearing Cien Caras masks prior to their involvement. If this is leading anywhere, I’d guess this would lead to yet another one last Cien match, this time with one of his sons involved.

AAA’s clips were of a Octagon, La Parka, Shocker vs Konan, Cibenetico, Scorpio Jr. match in Orizaba, Veracruz. (I don’t have this match in the listings, but its’ a revente TV taping.) Cibernetico’s sect ran in and beatdown Parka for the DQ.
