2) Lashley b Orlando Jordan
3) Kid Kash b Jamie Noble and Funaki [CW]

5) MNM b Super Crazy & Psicosis [WWE TAG]
6) Rey Mysterio Jr. & Chris Benoit b JBL & Booker T

Ovaciones results are missing some matches. Lucha Libre Indepdiente has pictures and video, and there’s more links below.

El Hijo Del Santo (with one of his children) was present at the show, and Ovaciones says he was attacked by JBL and Booker T before their match. After the match, he joined Rey and Benoit in the ring for a tribute to Eddie.

Ovaciones was down on the Undertaker/Orton match. Animal interfered in the opener.

Google News has tracked down these links for me:
* La Aficion filed three stories on the show. Before the show, they filed a pre-show story, which is where I got that great Teddy Long pic. It’s about the massive setup for a WWE show. Apparently Rey and MNM arrived a day early to do press, and a TV show named “Otro Roll” wanted them to face AAA wrestlers on it’s show. WWE didn’t like that idea. (Otro Roll actually also airs on Univision on Saturday nights. I may tape that and see if they WWE segment is included.) They also wrote a generic preview. After the show, they filed a show report. They mention the lucha commission was present at the show but didn’t get involved in any noticeable way. Everything was done like it’d be done on a US show, including the ring announcing. There’s a mention that they’d like to do Tijuana, next time thru.

* El Universal Online‘s article is pretty much the same preview.

* On Televisa (and Galavison)’s site, Rey talks about Sports Entertainment. Many of the quotes are repeated in a preview for tonight’s Guadalajara show in el Occidental

CMLL (FRI) 01/20 Arena Mexico Results
1) Mini Olimpico, Bam Bam vs Mini Halloween, Mini Damian 666
2) Dark Angel, Sahori, India Sioux vs Amapola, La Nazi, Hiroka
3) Mistico, Negro Casas, Heavy Metal vs Averno, Mephisto, Hombre Sin Nombre
4) LA Park, Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Universo 2000, Mascara Ano 2000, Olimpico
5) Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Tarzan Boy vs Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Hector Garza, Damian 666, Mr. Aguila

The main event seems to be the direction they’re heading the next few months at least, but because of that, we’re likely to get variations of this same match for quite a while all over the CMLL shows; this match is special because it’s first and it’s everyone (except Olimpico), but it still seems lacking as a main event. The concept more seems to have a packed card; Negro’s not often working terceras.

I’d think that they didn’t do a huge match in would mean they weren’t concerned about WWE’s shows, but that they reversed themselves and stuck with this date seems to indicate otherwise.

NGX shuffled the top matches of their 01/28 card due because Sabu is no longer coming in. Main event is now Supreme vs Sandman, and they’ve added a Damian/Simply Luscious vs ???/??? match.

GdR #5 and #6

Hey, double shot. I am so actually going to pull this off for once.

12/24: Opener was not so special, but that’s expected from the lineup. The main event was really fun – if you wanted to make a case that Atlantis would be #2 Rudo Of The Year with some #1 votes with updated TV, this is the match for you – and it’s definetly going into consideration for my Best Trios match vote.

01/07: The second match wasn’t as great (though still pretty good) and I think served as a nice start to the GdA/PdM hostilities. Opener is typical Coliseo.

Lucha Times Update

A long time ago, Galavision would preview this week’s shows on their website. In ’03, when they went into reruns, they seemed to stop doing it.

While chekcing on some other things, I ended on their site, noticed their preview is back, and that it’s for a different episode than I was projecting for this week.

As I mentioned previously, no one seemed to have a tape of this week’s projected show (except it did turn up on Samurai), and I guess that includes Galavision. According to the preview, they’re skipping ahead a week to the Leyenda de Azul tournament show, which also includes a tag team title match and the first of back to back Wagner/Atlantis matches.

Galavision would know a heck of a lot better than me, so expect that episode instead.

Today is the first day of the WWE Mexico tour. Tonight’s show in Mexico City has been sold out for a month. There’s no last minute update in lineup, but with this crew, I’m sure they’ll be some changes (which is why it’s not in the event listings; don’t feel like redoing it) – based on what was taped for SmackDown, there will be at least one minor adjustment.

Ovaciones has a story about the WWE show, a quick word with Damian about Friday’s Arena Mexico show (he’s not happy with GdA and promises revenge) and IWRG and Neza lineups. The IWRG preview mentions the big 8 man cage main event but does not say hair or mask is on the line, so I’m guessing it actually is not – you’re just getting a lot of blood.

No Halcon magazine this week, at least yet.

Voting is now open for the 2005 Tapatia awards: ballot, more information, discussion – the links are on the side bar as well, and there’s a discussion thread on DVDVR.

Robert’s bugging me about what Best Wrestler means, and I’m trying to be evasive because I want people to come up for their own definitions. Which isn’t actually too helpful. All I can say is I’ve always prefered doing these type of sports awards Most Outstanding Particpant over Most Valuable Particpant, and that’s the way I’m going to use my vote.

GdR #4 – 12/17/05

As part of an even newer attempt to get caught all the way up in time to vote inaccurately, I’m attempted to get rid of my GdR backlog this week.

#4 was done yesterday but I’m just now uploading it. In the recap, when I say Rayo/Canek put me to sleep, I’m not kidding around. I was yawning by the end of the match, and ended up taking a nap after the first fall of the second match because I was too out of it to pay attention.

The index is now accurate thru last weekend’s shows. Well, not totally, because I have a mistake in last week’s cibernetico, but basically you get the idea.

A while back, I offered DVDs of these three shows (I’m still beating myself for not getting #1), and then managed to talk everyone who asked out of giving me money for something that cost me little. To prevent further insanity, I’ll point you towards wrestleholicsvideos.com, because that’s where I’m sending the DVDs now. The 2-3-4 DVD is already available, and I’m sending in the 5-6-7 one later this week.

I make $0.00 off every purchase, so it’s not going to affect my recaps in anyway. It’s a also a horrible business decision, but those are the decisions I love to make.
