Didn’t get a chance to do this previously.

Information taken from Doctor Lao’s Intern (WON), RSPW.org and a list of magazine awards passed to me by a third party but I believe typed up by Steve Sims. For the WON and RSPW awards, I’m listing their highest eligible winner as the lucha pick of the year.

It should go without saying, but every voting group has it’s own biases and problems. And for a lot of the RSPW awards (which run from 12/04 to 11/05), they appear to just be what I voted for, because of the lack of other people who watched lucha voting.

01/29 news: MEX MW, CMLL Heavyweight contenders

Our long national nightmare is over, for tonight (or this afternoon), AAA will crown a new Mexican National Middleweight Champion. At least in theory, you can never be too sure with AAA. Finalists in the tournament (which I think may have actually been a real bracketed tournament, though I can’t seem to put the bracket together) are Zumbido and Histeria. Histeria does an interview today, explaining why he’s going to win. He also closes the door on the whole Psi-Histeria bit (which may have already been done on TV for all I know), explaining he gave the Psicosis gimmick control papers to Antonio Pena, for he is the true owner of the gimmick. (I hate AAA.)

AAA (SUN) 01/29 Plaza de Toros, Salamanca, Guanajuato
1) Billy Boy, Martha Villalobos, Mascarita Sagrada, May Flowers vs Gran Apache, Mini Abismo Negro, Polvo de Esterllas, Tiffany
2) Zumbido vs Psicosis [MEX MW, Final]
3) Electro Shock, Intocable, Zorro vs Charly Manson, Chessman, Espíritu
4) La Parka Jr., Mascara Sagrada Jr., Octagón vs El Brazo, Espectro Jr., Pirata Morgan
5) Vampiro vs Shocker vs Cibernetico [bull terrier]

In another article, Ovaciones randomly reveals the CMLL Heavyweight rankings
c) Universo 2000
1) Mr. Niebla
2) Dos Caras Jr.
3) Hector Garza

This sets up the trios match with Niebla, Dos and Lizmark against Universo, Tarzan and Atlantis tonight, and the already scheduled singles match between Niebla and Universo next Sunday. I’m hoping those don’t make GdR but they surely will.

The rest of Ovaciones is lineups for Arena Coliseo and IWRG on Sunday, and Arena Puebla on Monday. Full lineups tommorow.
