Latin Lover’s injury

I’ve been reading articles to try and figure out what’s up with Latin Lover. Google News Mexico has a ton of them, if you’d like to read them yourselves.

Latin suffered a complete right tricep tear, when dancing (maybe just rehearing) on a non-wrestling event. Surgery went fine, and his arm will be immobilized for 5-6 weeks while he recovers. He’s going to for sure take a week off to rest and recover, but is considering trying to make his (non-wrestling) appearances while still hurt.

This is the same type of injury WWE’s Batista recently suffered, though I don’t know how severity matches up (though ‘complete’ sounds pretty bad.) Early reports mistaken had it as an Achilles Tendon tear, which where the confusion came.

While this is a injury suffered outside of wrestling and one he should be able to return from, Latin Lover is considering retiring from wrestling. His family doesn’t want him to do it anymore, and he’s tired of wrestling related surgeries (he says this one was his 8th total) in general.

On a completely different note, they’ve added footage of the WWE in Mexico (probably the stuff they’re showing on TV) to the interview with Rey on WWE.com

Update: Meltzer is saying Latin has offically retired.

01/26: delayed resuts, upcoming CMLL major shows

I believe everything’s back to normal, but I didn’t actually fix a problem so it’ll probably happen again.

Voting is now open for the 2005 Tapatia awards: ballot, more information, discussion – the links are on the side bar as well, and there’s a discussion thread on DVDVR.

IWRG (SUN) 01/22 Arena Naucalpan Results
1) Black Jaguar, Rey Estruendo b Ultra Mega, Vampiro Metalico
2) Black Terry, Fantasma de la Ópera, Xibalva b Avisman, Kung Fu Jr., Star Boy
3) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Veneno b Apocalipsis, Dr. X, Loco Max
4) Dos Caras Sr., Máscara Sagrada, Mr. Niebla b Canek, Damián 666, Head Hunter I

They teased a Canek vs Head Hunter I feud (and a larger Canek Family vs Corp feud), which is very scary. Recap pushes a Fantasma de la Opera vs Avisman title match to come.

Upcoming big shows for CMLL, as told by Ovaciones:

02/05: Santo Tribute (Arena Coliseo)
03/17: annual Lutteroth/Santo celebration
04/28: Arena Mexico’s 50th Anniversary (+1 day)

Latin Lover is hurt and will be out quite a while. Depending on where I read this, he either did doing a dance move or a wrestling more, and he either hurt his arm or his leg, so really, I don’t know much more than the first sentence.

Ultimo Guerrero’s off to Italy from 01/26 to 01/30; this is the Nu Wrestling Evolution promotion Vampiro talks about, and I believe Ultimo is facing Ultimo Dragon once again on the tour.

Groond XXX will return to Arena Mexico in February, from injuries he’s blaming (at least in the storyline) on Rey and Ultimo. Uh oh. I think this is more just to keep Groon in the ring with very good people.

LA Park will be in Chicago on Saturday and Sunday, but plans more Arena Mexico visits in the next couple of months. He’s scheduled for 02/03, 02/10, 03/10, and 03/17.

Main event of Arena Neza tonight is Atlantis & Tarzan Boy vs Blue Panther & Mr. Niebla.

El Halcon Net is still working on it’s redesign, so they posted an edition from 04/07/05 (which I’ve never read!) They have big features on WrestleMania 21 and el Solitario.

I’m working on the Wrestling Card Profiles; had to redo them from scratch. They should look better tomorrow.
