01/05 news

If you haven’t been reading the comments, you need to go check out the new blog of Alexis Salazar, the official CMLL photographs. There’s some great photos. Finally, I’m totally sure what move is La Mistica.

Good time for an obscene, because nothing is going on.
Lineups/Results are after the jumps and in the event section. Of note:
– Hator is your new UWA LH Champion, beat Zorro on the 1st.
– Cyborg lost his hair on 01/01 in IWRG in the captian’s hair match
– Brazo de Oro lost his to Villano III in Arena Queretaro on 01/03
– Mini Olimpico successfully defended the CMLL Mini’s title over Toro Bill in Arena Puebla on Monday.
– Ultimo Guerrero won by DQ over Soberano Jr. to defend the CMLL LH title in Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio, and they’re doing a rematch tonight (a week later), with the title on the line again.

First AAA TV taping of the year will either be on 01/19 in Toluca or 01/22 in Salamanca, Guanajuato. Latin Lover is expected to work a reduced scheduled this year.

India Sioux did an interview on Tuesday, as a preview to the Coliseo show. She said she had three goals for the year:
1) Wrestle in Japan
2) Beat Marcela for the CMLL Women’s Title
3) ???

Seriously, she said three and listed two. It was nifty. I don’t suppose #3 was “get hurt on a Coliseo show”, but that’s what happened in her Tuesday match. There’s some scary pictures of her being stretchered out, but she was okay after being checked in the infirmary.

Box Y Lucha #2747 is up. Inside (though not everything):
Cover is the usual montage of pictures.
Poster is La Mascara as Rookie of the Year.
– Unless I’m crazy, the current trivia question is “Who is the father of Spider Boy and Texano Jr.?” I think I must be crazy.
– Bio of Lobo Rubio.
– Interview with Santo. Yes, he and Negro got pinned by their own trademark moves – but that just shows the strength of their trademark moves! Also, Averno and Mephisto are good young second generation wrestlers. He’s liked what he saw of Mistico in 2005, and thought it was interesting to team with a tecnico Dr. Wagner and Negro Casas again. He was most surprised this past year by how good the young people are.
– Hector Garza says Tarzan Boy is like Latin Lover, in both are green guys from Monterrey who aren’t in his league. He’s got no problem beating the traitor Tarzan for his hair if he wants it (guess they won’t be defending the trios titles), but he’d prefer to fight someone who’s a challenge
– Lola Gonzalez talks about being happy for her recognition, particularly in Juarez, and likes to still wrestle occasionally for a new generation of fans. She also feels she’s been blessed to be injuried, for it allowed her to spend more time with her family.
– Pirata Morgan affirms that he’s the best wrestler in the world. Many have tried to be him, but haven’t come close. He’s thinking about becoming a promoter, and he surely would be the best promoter in the world.
– Maximo reveals the truth: Leobardo Magadan is his very close friend. They go to to dinner, go dancing, go to the movies, that sort of thing. Maximo says they talk six times a day on the telephone, even more so when he’s out on tour. Yet, Maximo finds it very strange that Magadan refuses all his advances at the arena when they have such a life together outside of them. Very strange.
– Pato Soria, while talking about seconding his son, talks about his debut on 02/03/64 – Javier Escobedo passed away and they had to have a replacement – and because he became a professional wrestler, he had to miss out on a chance to represent Mexico in that year’s Olympics.
– Satanico’s debut: DQ in 1st Fall, DQ in 2nd fall. He was paid and immediately run out of the building! That sounds so right.

No new Halcon this week, at least yet. Hey, you get busy sometimes.
