CMLL Mini Line - 11/12/05 (#193)
Recap: 11/19, 11/20/05

Match 1: Loco Max, Guëro Loco, Arkangel vs Misterioso II, Virus, Tony Rivera
Arena Coliseo, 05/17/05

  1. Tecnicos
  2. Rudos
  3. Tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:42
Approx Rating: Okay, but GL looked pretty indy. Not a good first impression.
Notes: No introductions, which would've be nice, as this is Guëro Loco's debut. We join after the whistle, actually.

Normal start, with Loco/Virus first. If only Super Crazy was on the Rudo team instead of Arkangel, this'd be perfect. Tony Rivera looks disturbingly like a normal person and ten years older here. The announcers are talking with someone named Lorenzo for some reason. Normal exchanges, Virus looking good. Misterioso, in a camouflage outfit, faces Guëro Loco, in a camouflage outfit. Strangely, they can see each other. Need better camouflage. They totally look like tag team partners here. It's quite odd. They evade each other on off the ropes stuff or a while and then Guëro Loco has a funky dance before they switch to armdrags. Zero count trips, standoff, pose off. I just realized Misterioso has a mohawk on top of his mask. That's awesome. They go face to face. Bicep to bicep. They opt to tag, instead of say fighting or hugging. Arkangel and Tony Rivera. Tony totally looks like Some Dude instead of Tony Rivera. They slap fight inside, slap fight outside, and then come back inside to do more wrestling. They do spots that seem to indicate them having worked a million times, and I'm sure it's up to that at this point. Tony runs thru the whole rudo side, although he and Guëro have a hard time getting a good tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Virus comes in to take over with a dropkick. Guëro loco is a skinny dude, even by lucha standards. He ends up getting toped to death by Misterioso. Ark comes in, gets backdropped by Virus and a (bad) 'rana for Tony. (5:23) Virus pins Loco Max in a nudo to wrap it up. (5:26) Break.

We don't hear the whistle for the second fall either or Loco and Virus are just in a hurry to stop wrestling again. Virus gets his run up the buckles armdrag, and Loc goes high on a monkey flip. Loco charge into the post doesn't look so good. Ark pulls out Virus and works him over, but he gets posted too, as well as a spinning headscissors on the floor. Misterioso and Guëro Loco again. Misterioso gets the edge again. The other two rudos try to help out, and clotheslines backfire in all sorts of bad ways. A double handspring armdrag goes bad, but otherwise it's good Misterioso showing. Tony and Arkangel, once Ark finishes talking it over with his side. Ark gives Tony a single leg, starts to go off the ropes, stops when Tony rolls near him, and just slaps him on the back and leaves. How odd. Max and Tony instead - though not for long because the rudos feel like starting the beatdown. Tony gets flapjacked and then sentoned by Ark to end him. (3:33) Misterioso is speared by Loco Max, and then the other two give him elbow drops. Is that it? No, he gets a guillotine, uh, shove from Guëro Loco, because they want Virus instead. Ark powerbomb, Loco Max splash, one two three. (4:21) Break.

Replays. Rudos are content in holding the ring as the fall starts, but come into team up on the tecnicos soon after. Announcers having discussion that I'm sure would be hilarious if I knew what they were saying. Quadruple chop on Virus goes bad, and that turns the tide. Virus bites Loco Max's chest? EW! Or, wait, that was a bearhug Loco Max was selling oddly, maybe. Maybe I just have bad thoughts in my mind. They square of in the ring for a while, while everyone else gets the comeback out of their system on the outside. Virus ends that by dropkicking Loco out. Arkangel and Ricky, with a hugely visible edit. Tony get dropkicked out and Ark gives him a plancha. This leaves the camouflaged duo. Guëro Loco still can not take a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. The first three he's taken (two before and one here), he takes on his tailbone and his butt. The fourth one, he misses the knee entirely. He's also pale as heck. Misterioso gives him a Gory Neckbreaker to kill him off. (3:30) Loco Max dropkicks Misterioso out so he and Virus can have their sequence, though dead Guëro Loco is still in the way. Virus ends up getting a inverted Gory Special, and that's it. (3:55)

Coming Soon: Metro. Here's some sample posing so you know what to expect. I guess whatever match he had was so good, they're not going to show it to us this week. But he won, and the fans loved him, and he apparently has a valet, who may or may not be all natural.

Match 2: Universo 2000 (c), Mascara Magica, Apolo Dantes vs Halloween, Damian 666 (c), Terrible
Arena Mexico, 05/20/05

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:19
Approx Rating: Better than the typical Capos/FdT match.
Other Match Notes: No entrances. I wouldn't have known who was good and who was bad - or even that we had good and bad here - had they not informed me.

Rowdy tecnico fans are far far more riled up about this match than I am. Rudos threaten to lave, and sadly come back. Universo beats up Halloween, and Halloween has to hug a front row fan for comfort. Mascara Magica versus Terrible is the rematch of the big hair match we've all forgotten about, except apparently Mascara Magica, because he's fired up and hitting everything. After he dropkicks Terrible out, Halloween offers a handshake, but can't get it. Damian is offended, so he comes in, shoves Magica, shakes Halloweens head, hugs him, and they have a quick peck on the mouth. Magica thinks they're both questionable. Damian, offended, proves he's not gay by going for his big stick. Uh huh. It gets taken away, but that's how they get to the comeback. Let's note that Terrible planned ahead, and dressed like Halloween here - it's a nice touch. Damian is using his stick now, and it's no DQ - Halloween at least distracts the referees the second time. Apolo gets worked over. Magica gets crotched. Universo - is no where to be found. Apolo again, then. Magica and Apolo reverse whips and send FdT into each other, and Terrible stands on the apron watching, because Universo is still not there. FdT manage to actually pull it back together and whip Apolo and Magica together as planned. Universo shoes back up, so Terrible says him out, while FdT gets a combo Boston Crab/Camel Clutch thing that's looking very GdI-ish. (5:55) Replays. Break.

Vignette: Next week, a special kids section for fans of Atlantis! Every so often, I remember how nice a guy Atlantis appears to be, and feel sad about how things end up going for him.

Second fall starts with more rudo beatdown, and a plug for a soccer PPV. Damian stands up Mascara Magica at one point, and Halloween reaches down Mascara Magica's tights and grabs something. You know, if a low blow is a DQ, I gotta think that's not so good. That's not so good on a number of levels. They do hide it from the referee, as Halloween yanks and pulls something down there in an unkind fashion. Apolo gets beat up in less sexually abusive fashion. Universo doesn't turn the tide, but as Damian is setting up for the whisper in the ring, he's tripped up and crotched by the other two, and that starts it. Universo gets Terrible in a camel clutch to end him (1:55). Universo catapults Halloween into a Apolo fireman's carry slam, which I've never seen before (I think) and is a neat looking combo. Magica adds a senton, and gets the revenge pin. (2:20) Replay of Halloween's submission. Even the rudo announcers admits that's an illegal action (though it's a rudo/rudo move.) The CMLL Replay Tron 2000 is wasted on these highlights.

Terrible and Universo start out this fall, with Terrible's inherent goofiness coming back to hurt him. FdT get beat up as pair, as often happens. Universo teases a big dive (and he's looking big here), but stops when they over. Apolo and Terrible now, then a Magica/Apolo vs FDT sequence, as we go split screen to see Dr. Morales with a kid. We come back just in time for the FdT WWE move sequence - spear on Apolo, 3D on Magica. Somehow, Magica sells the flapjack he's giving to Magica, and Universo covers him as Terrible covers Apolo, one two NO. Well I would hope he'd kick out. Universo gets a big fat crucifix on Terrible for two. Terrible gets a small package for two. I think a fire alarm went off here. Apolo has a standing armbar, but it's broken up by Halloween. Halloween gives Apolo a Pedigree, and Apolo has no idea how to take it, and nearly dies. Actually, watching it again, I have no idea how he did not die - his head, pointed down, was the first thing to connect with the mat. You can see his face immediately scrunch up with a bundle of pain. Meanwhile, Halloween is posing like a goof. No one's are about Apolo, and Magica comes into do a sequence with Damian. Terrible breaks up the standing armbar there, and Apolo gamely comes back in. to face him. He's not selling the neck at all as they're exchange chops. Universo comes in, and it turns it into a chop battle between him and Halloween, before Apolo and Terrible both dropkick them out, and they chop battle more there. Apolo and Terrible tope the both of them, and Apolo is tough to be doing this. This leaves Magica and Damian, Magica gets a headscissors cradle one two NO. Magica ducks a clothesline, gets a drop toe hold, but is shoved off going for La Majistral. Terrible grabs a hold of him, Damian gets the case, Magica ducks, and Terrible gets it. Magica tries a 'rana, Damian blocks it, powerbombs him, and puts one foot on the ropes, but the referee catches it at two. Damian and Baby Richard exchange shoves, and then Damian charges Magica. Bodyscissors rollup, reversed by Magica, who then hooks the ropes one two three. (5:04)  Rudos complain about the blatant cheating.

Vignette: So, Black Tiger was on Big Brother, wrestling people in a foam pool. As was La Nazi. Looks like La Nazi was killing the reality show people.

Vignette: Gronda XXX is coming 06/03. Be scared. Be very scared. We see clips of him walking to the ring, walking in the ring, then leaving. Can't get more exciting than that.

Stellar Moments
Lance
: Universo topes Dos Caras Jr., and Dos Caras barely budges. I don't think that's what they wanted me to see, but that's kinda neat
Novice: (new font?) Leno with a top rope springboard moonsault, getting a lot of height
Spectacular: Bald Ricky Marvin with a double jump corkscrew plancha on Sangre Azteca
Triumph: La Mascara beats Dr. X with a rocking horse to win the title.
Insult: Mascara Magica takes an accidental double dropkick from his partners.

Vignette: Next week, a special kids section for fans of Atlantis!

Vignette: An actual skit! "La Famila de Casas adopta a Mistico". Poor Felino's getting bumped down to forth favorite son. Heavy Metal, the cad, almost interrupts Mistico while praying - Negro has to pull him back up. Anyway, they invite him in helping stop the evil forces of Perro Aguayo. They're no morons, they want him because he's really good. They even invite him to train with them, and Mistico in turn invites them to pray with him. It's all good.

Match 3: Perro Aguayo Jr. (c), Hector Garza, Terrible vs Heavy Metal (c), Negro Casas, Mistico
Arena Mexico, 05/20/05

  1. tecnicos
  2. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:11
Approx Rating: Fine match.
Other Match Notes:
Metal is wearing the IWRG IC Heavyweight title.

Rudos wait till after introductions, but do beat down the tecnicos, just as we're watching the valets leave. Perro beats Mistico around the ring while the other two take care of the Casas inside it. Tarzan gets the missile dropkick on Metal. Mistico comes in, for his beating. Big flapjack, check. Hector catapults him up, Tarzan clotheslines him down, and Perro gives him a running stomp. No cover, Metal instead comes in to distract while Negro rolls Mistico out. Negro pays for it with kicks. Metal gets held upside down for a dropkick. As they beat up the Casas, Mistico slips back in, but Perro stops him again. Garza and Perro completely rip his mask apart, and that's the fall. (4:10) Beating goes on, on Mistico - Perro catapults him into the third row, and throws the rest of his team out there to join him. Replays. Break.

Mistico apparently went to the back to get a new mask, because he rushes down the ramp early in the fall, and springboards in with a 'rana for Tarzan Boy. Garza and Perro whip him, but Mistico just slingshots out into a corkscrew plancha on Tarzan (which is caught and doesn't make much of an impact, actually.) Negro and heavy turn it around, and brawl out into the ring. Hector Garza uses Marisol the bodybuilder as a human shield, and it works pretty well. Metal gives Tarzan a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker (sorta), and while Perro is escaping in that direction, Mistico stops and kicks him. Perro and Mistico battle to the steps, and the other four kinda stop to watch and see if Mistico does anything nuts. He does not, and they just battle back to the ring. Tecnicos hold the ring while the rudos regroup on the outside. A bit of stalling as they talk it over. Perro and Mistico - no, Perro's not doing it. Negro and Hector instead. Hector laughs at Negro's lack of bodybuilder physique. Chop battle. Hector actually gets the better of it, Negro leaving after he gets kicked in the head. Out to Tarzan and Metal, except Tarzan's flip in runs right into Heavy oddly. Chop battle again. Metal totally cheats and uses the ropes to win. Back and forth leads to another tilt-a-whirl where Metal doesn't actually give him the backbreaker on the knee, and a dropkick to the side of the head. Mistico and Perro, and Perro can't believe we're back to this. Mistico gets La Mistica shortly in, and Garza has to come into break it up. As they fight we, look back to last week, where Mistico beat Perro. Mistico's doing the same to Garza at the same time, hitting a big swinging 'rana before Garza pops up and dropkicks him. Mistico ducks a clothesline, and ropes Perro on the floor. Metal takes his place, again with Tarzan Boy, and looks a little better. He takes the knee bump tot eh floor, but Negro cuts Tarzan off with a dropkick before he can dive. Hector gets Negro with a dropkick as well, but spends plenty of time posing. Negro sidesteps a corner whip and kicks Negro down in the corner, in order to hit the dropkick to the face, but Tarzan's waiting for him and dropkicking. Double powerbomb by Tarzan and Garza, and that's it. (7:42) Mistico planchas in, but he's caught by Garza, tossed to Tarzan, and Tarzan tosses him away - except Mistico always lands on his feet. Metal is back in and missile dropkicking Garza. Mistico gets La Mistica on Tarzan as Heavy Metal gets La Majistral on Hector, and the tecnicos come back for the win. (8:01) Replays. Break.

Match 4: Ultimo Guerrero vs Dos Caras Jr.
Arena Mexico, 05/20/05

  1. Dos cross armbreaker (1:48)
  2. Guerrero special (1:40)
  3. Dos German Suplex (4:35)

Winner: Dos Caras Jr. (2-1)
Match Time: 8:03
Approx Rating: Good, but not a great match.
Other Match Notes: No entrances. We start at the whistle, with Ultimo seemingly having attacked Dos.

Ultimo sets the tone by ripping Dos' eye holes. Whip, drop toe hold, elbow drop. Whip, dropkick, Caras goes out, Ultimo goes up - to celebrate, no dive. Ultimo drops down to the apron and outside to get Caras, and smashes him into some front row seats. Back in, and Ultimo clotheslines Caras, but he's not going down. Again, and still no. Caras is much taller than Ultimo, which is not a surprise but impossible to miss. Ultimo tries a third clothesline, Caras ducks, and hits his climb up enziguri. Caras draws from the crowd. Ultimo charges at him, Dos grabs the arm, climbs up armscissors him to the mat and gets a cross armbreaker for the pin. (1:48) That was rather quick. Your ref is Baby Richard, of course. Replays. Break.

By the time we look back at the ring to start the second fall, Dos Caras is laid out, and Ultimo is celebrating. Chops by Ultimo, whip, Caras slides under, and pops up with a wheel kick. Revenge mask ripping his, and the top of Ultimo's mask gets pulled apart pretty easy. Running dropkick to Ultimo's head, and pause for celebration. Caras picks up Ultimo, Ultimo escapes, off the ropes, into a Dos Caras powerslam. DC says that's it and goes up, but Ultimo is up behind and him and crotching him on the ropes. Wait, he's not gonna - Guerrero Special on DC! One two three. (1:40) That's a big move on a big man. Ultimo goes celebrate with the rudo fans, but he's too tired.

Ultimo and DC have dueling celebrations. Fans seem to like Caras more. Ultimo attacks him with chest slaps by surprise, but DC turns it around and uses chops. Dos celebrates, and comes back with side kicks to the head. Ultimo catches the third, spins him, and clotheslines him. One two NO. Dos looks to the crowd. More kicks to the head. This time, when Ultimo grabs a leg, DC turns it into a 'rana, one two NO. Both playing dead after about six minutes of total wrestling. Corner whip, Ultimo with a corner sunset flip one two NO. Recovery. Corner whip by Ultimo, reversed, Ultimo climbs the buckles, Dos after him with his super climb up enziguri, knocking Ultimo the floor. DC follows him with his over the top rope tope, looking good here. Both are recovering, so we have time for a bunch of replays. DC is already back in when we come in live, and Ultimo meets him with a forearm. Ultimo climbs up the ropes, and stops as DC joins him - top rope belly to belly suplex one two NO! DC is a bit frustrated that didn't work. He rallies the crowd a little bit. Press, dropped into the waistlock, , but Ultimo escapes, kick powerbomb! No cover? He's pumped, but he's not doing much but yelling at the crowd. Off the ropes, clothesline blocked and caught into the German Suplex. One two three. (4:35) DC celebrates it like a huge victory.

DC challenges Ultimo to a shot at the CMLL LH title. I'm thinking he's more a heavyweight, but Ultimo says okay anyway. Break.

Replays. That's it.
