AAA Recap
Aired: 05/14/05
Recapped: 05/14/05 - 05/15/05

Open with - Rey Mysterio's WWE Video/Music? Huh. It's a AAA in Japan commercial? With Rey doing a promo in English for people who don't know English? How weird.

Match 1: Charly Manson, Mr. Aguila, Juventued Guerrera vs Nosawa, TAKA Michinoku, Tigre Imperial
Japan, 01/28/05

Winner: Mexico. Or rudos. Or something.
Match Time: 14:47
Other Match Notes: Charly Manson has a belt. Everyone has a belt, more or less. Juvi and Aguila, out together as "X-Team", wear their masks to the ring. Juvi's belt is an X-LAW one. Ah, he's got two masks on, how odd. I guess that was just an ugly outfit Aguila had on - or he got the tattoos later. Not only does TAKA have two belts, but a close approximation of his WWF music. I think we miss the bell here with a commercial break. I have no idea if I've got the the rudos and tecnicos right - the crowd seems to be anti-NOSAWA. TAKA vs Aguila brings back the halcyon days of WrestleMania XIV, doesn't it? Nosawa also plays Funaki for parts. Sadly, we do not get the battle of the Juvi Driver vs the Michinoku Driver, or at least the parts I was paying attention to. To completely pull one spot out of context and ignoring a whole bunch of good ones, Tigre and Juvi had a up in the corners bit that took forever to get everyone in the right position - I think they changed their minds on what they were doing a couple times. Juvi Driver on TAKA! TAKA kicks out! That's all I wanted from this match. One of the things that bug me about AAA, or at least one that's different from WWE, is how many pin counts happen where we can't see the referee make the count. The WWE referees and production crew are very good about making sure all the important information is in the shot, and they're not nearly as careful here. Charly seemed thrilled beyond belief to be in this hall for this match, so it's cool he got the win; it's a pretty irrelevant match, so it's neat someone who's going to see it as a huge highlight got it.

Quick look back at the post match and another break.

Interview with Tiffany, re: Diabolica (Tiffany is not impressed) and Lady Apache (impressed but beatable.) She's wearing her Reina de Reinas belt. And they talk more.

Match 2: Princesa Sugieth, Tiffany, Diabolica vs Princesa Blanca, Fabi Apache, Lady Apache
Santiago de Queretaro, Queretaro - 03/04/04

Winner: Tecnicas
Match Time: 6:29
Other Match Notes: Blanca has her own backup dancers. Always helpful. Fabi has changed Venga Boys songs for this match. Lady Apache has her Mexican Woman's Championship. Tiffany tries to lead the cheers for Diabolica her, and I'm thinking I might have missed the point previously, but Diabolica gets into arguments with Tiffany and Lady, so maybe not. They've finally taken down Diabolica as CMLL Women's Champion as I write this. You think she still has the belt? Watch, going out of order, I've missed her throwing it into a trash can. Lady/Diabolica sequence to start. They appear to finish (and it was okay), but it seems like there's a clip leading into Blanca vs Sugieth and Tiffany. Blanca's a moment slow on some of her moves, but not horrible. Triple team on Lady Apache next, so they must've skipped thru the Fabi sequence. Lady Apache's triple team ends with a Diabolica bronco buster. Fabi gets thrown around by hair a bunch. Despite the technical change from three falls to one fall matches, they're working the matches exactly the same way - or at least this one. We had a typical "tecnicos win one on one opening fall" sequence except for the simultaneous pins, and now we're into the beatdown fall. I'm not sure I understand the change if the effect is going to be meaningless. It's a really quick beatdown, as Blanca somehow turns the tide, and showcasing some not so good strikes. Everyone but Diabolica and Lady Apache ends on the outside - well, no, Diabolica just backdropped Lady to the floor. Fabi surprises (sorta) Diabolica with a cross body, and gets a near fall on a bodyscissors cradle. Before she can almost win again, Tiffany pulls her out and they have a slap fest, Fabi winning pretty handily. Lady and Diabolica are back in, and Lady gets a small package, but we miss the count while checking on the princesses. Nice timing. They're still fighting, so I'll presume it was a two. Both off the ropes, Tiffany grabs Lady's heel, but Lady Apache clears her with a kick. (Not sure why Diabolica isn't around to take advantage - she's running towards the opposite ropes again next we see her.) Lady and Diabolica charge at each other, Lady Apache ducks Diabolica's clothesline, Tiffany opts for a behind the back heel grab - and doesn't realize she's holding Diabolica. That leads to another argument between the rudo women, and Lady Apache surprising Diabolica with an inside cradle. One two three. (6:29) Tecnico - tecnicas? - celebrate. Guess we've got a three way coming. Break.

Hey, it's the after break post match. I don't know if I like this trend. We get Tiffany and Diabolica arguging about who exactly blew that one. Sugieth is trying to make the peace, but Diabolica seems to want less to do with her. Diabolica walks away, and Tiffany goes back in the ring to try and get a piece of Lady Apache. That doesn't work out so well for her, so the announcers talk to Diabolica instead. Oh, Diabolica's part of LLL? Diabolica's still yelling to anyone who'll listen as the tecnico's clear Tiffany out of the ring. NOw Diabolica will get in the ring and yell at Lady Apache. And pose. This isn't really going anywhere, is it. Tiffany's turn to yell on the microphone. Okay, I'm fast forwarding now.

Match 3: Charly Manson (c), Mr. Aguila, Hator vs Zorro, Octagon (c), Intocable
Santiago de Queretaro, Queretaro - 03/04/04

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 10:02
Other Match Notes: It was Hator! Score one for me. No entrances here. Seemed to break out into a brawl in no times. Intocable gets thrown into the crowd. Charly Manson spends much time going after Octagon's mask. About 7.5 minutes, the Black Family runs out to help Mr. Aguila against Intocable, giving him a chair and not doing a good job of hiding the upcoming blade job. As soon as Intocable gets brought in, the Barrio Boys are out to run them off with their skateboard. They all end up heading to the back , having collectively meant nothing. Intocable is bleeding, but still fine enough to land a slingshot tope con giro. Psicosis is now out, hiding with a chair. Captains are battling in the ring, but with both referees opting to look outside, it's just a matter of time. Octagon starts to set up Manson in an abdominal stretch, Psicosis runs in, steals his mask, and Manson covers for the pin. (10:02) He is smart enough to go right back to Psicosis, get the mask back from him, and drops it on Octagon to cover it up. Psicosis, on the other hand, is not very smart, and walks into the ring with a chair to celebrate. Apparently, that's enough evidence for Pepe Casas to overturn the decision - but before he can raise the hand, Psicosis give shim a chairs shot to the back. So that's why he brought it. I guess since no hand was raised, it's still a rudo win, as much as it actually matters. Rudos beat up on the tecnico as Pepe Casas is gingerly helped from the ring. Intocable's face is covered in red, so there's not much beatdown needed to do on him. Lots of talking. Break.

More posing and talking. Replays. Break.

Interview with Psicosis. Talk about the upcoming trios match. Moving on, Psicosis helpfully explains Psicosis is Psicosis, La Parka is La Parka, and how could you be fooled by imitators? There's only one.

Match 4: Abismo Negro, Tinieblas Jr., Psicosis vs Gronda, Latin Lover, Televisa Deportes
Santiago de Queretaro, Queretaro - 03/04/04

Winner: tecincos
Match Time: 8:05
Other Match Notes: Gronda uses the opening from the Road Warriors entrance quick a bit. There's a table in the ring with four trophies. We saw this footage of Parka getting punked out during the interview with Psicosis - all the rudos are beating him up before he makes it to the ring. Rudos use the surprise to overcome the numbers, eventually pulling the table out of the ring, setting Parka on it, and having Psicosis do a splash off the top rope. The table bends but does not break, but that's enough to put Parka out. Maybe they should try using a breakable table next time. They're still brawling on the outside as the medical personal set up Parka for a stretcher. Gronda and a char are inside, and he's getting chair shots to the bad (worse? right) knee. Chair shot to the molded horns too. TD is helping them take Parka to the back, so it's a three on two beatdown. Split screen of Parka being brought all the way thru the back to - nothing they get to. TD is back in the ring, and getting a chair to the head. Latin Lover asks the crowd if he should use a chair - I'm thinking yes. TD gets a second rope chair shot. Latin Lover in with a chair, but he swings it once and then spends 15 seconds posing. What a moron. He gets killed. Parka's in the ambulance. Rudos stupidly whip someone, and of course that leads to the comeback. Tecnicos turning around just as Parka's ambulance is finally pulling away. Everything settles down into a complete normal match, back to the pose Abismo/Gronda pose off. Gronda gives Abismo spinebuster, one two - the ref stops her for no particular reason (LLL ref? They also wanted to squeeze in the next bit before the finish) - Psicosis and TD are going at it, Psicosis lands the tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, the ref looks outside and complains about a cramp in his wrist, Octagon runs in and pulls off Psicosis' mask, TD with a German Suplex, ref has no problem counting that one, one two three. (8:05) I guess he got over his evilness? Referee had to be looking right at Psicosis' unmasked face and did nothing, but whatever. Octagon is already back at the entrance. No idea where the mask disappeared to. Looks like someone gave it back to Psicosis eventually. Totally building up Octagon vs Psicosis here, which is odd.

Next Week:
Rey de Reyes: Chessman & Abismo Negro (LLL) vs Jeff Jarrett & Konnan (TNA) vs La Parka & Latin Lover (AAA)

Post match fooling around? Check. That's it.
