AAA Recap
Aired: 05/07/05
Recapped: 05/07/05 - how odd!
Match 1: Luzbel (c), Dance Boy, Drabeck vs Fuego
Latino (c), Muerte Fantastica, Pony
Santiago de Queretaro, Queretaro - 03/04/04
Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 11:58
Other Match Notes: Locals. First group comes out to "Appetite for
Destruction", which annoyingly lays right over their introductions to make
them confusing. None of the results has this match, and you get the impression
the crowd's not really into the show yet. AAA wins me over by showing the names
of these guys - I had no chance here, only having gotten Muerte correct of the
six. We have to ring announcers talking over each other, and one trying to start
a chant for a referee. Local referees too. Everyone dressed occasionally for the
show, which is always nice. Muerte's mask has illustrated teeth. You can tell
the rudos have been watching their GdI tapes. You also can tell they're far more
excited to be in front of the crowd than vice versa, although the crowd does
come around. Long 3 on 1 beatdown with everyone getting to hit a top rope move
but no one covering tires the fans out a little bit. Muerte does a nice
somersault senton to the floor, and it starts a well executed, but slow to set
up and keeping moving, dive section. Tragically, the build all up to the guy in
purple (Fuego Latino?) doing his dive, and he gets caught in the ropes. Fans
boo. Rudo referee with a slow count for no particular reason, except it lets
them attempt more moves. We do this four times in a row to drive in the point,
the last time the referee stopping his count in mid count to yell at tecnicos on
the apron. The rudo in the ring (Luzbel) does a eh low blow fake and we spend a
minute on the drama before the DQ is announced. (11:58) Not exactly what
I'm looking for there.
Match 2: Mini Psicosis (w/Psicosis) vs Mascarita
Sagrada (w/Mascara Sagrada) vs Mini Abismo Negro
(w/Abismo Negro) vs Octagoncito (w/Octagon) in
a four way match where the losing team meets at a later date in a mask/mask
match
Santiago de Queretaro, Queretaro - 03/04/04
Result: Octagonicto and Mini Psicosis meet at a later date (03/11 -
two weeks of TV?) in a mask vs mask match
Match Time: 12:25
Other Match Notes: All the seconds disappear after the match starts. As
soon as the match starts, the rudos turn on the tecnicos and go for their masks.
Great. This confused me at the time, because I wasn't sure if this was a four
way or a tag match; as it goes on, it becomes clear that it's a four way. The
tecnicos turn it around, and after a crowd shot, the rudos are finally fighting
each other. Psicosis takes forever climbing the ropes "on the run",
then does a moonsault to his feet, obviously connecting with nothing. Thank god
Abismo superkicks him. Abismo loses me a bit when he does the K-Kwik memorial
pointless flip, but whatever. Rudos clotheslined each other, and tecnicos
covered each one, which is apparently legal even if it only got two. This
transitioned us to the tecnico versus tecnico matchup. Sagrada wanted a
handshake, and got a trip. You can sorta tell they're not used to fighting each
other. Or they were just slightly off. They finish with the zero count standoff,
but Octagoncito starts it off again with shoves before there's too much indy
respect. Nice Abismo suplexing Sagrada sequence. Octagon/Psicosis sequence is
odd, what with Octagon breaking out power moves, but only not quite as good.
Sagrada's comeback sequence against Abismo is typically awesome. Octagon has a
nice crazy looking tope con giro. Abismo killed Octagoncito with the German
Suplex to get that pin. Rudos fight for a bit, then decide to get back on the
same page to beat Sagrada, and they were actually better of when they were
fighting each other, the way Sagrada takes care of them. Sagrada's going to add
a plancha to Abismo Negro, but Psicosis trips him up. We see Maxi Psicosis
heading to the ring with a chair as Mini Psicosis suplexes Sagrada and floats
over for a two count. Psicosis comes in the ring for a chair shot, but Sagrada
ducks it and Mini Psicosis takes it. Octagoncito comes back in to springboard
dropkick the chair into Maxi Psicosis' face, but doesn't get too much impact on
the kick, and Big Psicosis eventually chairshots him before ripping his mask to
shreds. Meanwhile, Sagrada's given Mini Psicosis a top rope splash, and gets the
pin. Not sure if Big Psicosis realizes this and that's why he continues to beat
Octagoncito - since he's the future mask opponent now - but Octagon eventually
shows up to make the save for his mini. This match was okay.
Match 3: Black Family (Ozz, Cuervo (c), Escoria) vs
Barrio Boys (Alan, Decniss, Billy Boy (c))
Santiago de Queretaro, Queretaro - 03/04/04
Winner: Barrio Boys
Match Time: 11:15
Other Match Notes: Black Family bring belts with them - I presume it's
the Mexican Atomicos championship they hold with Chessman. This match good -
which is why I'm not writing about it, though I can't figure out why the one
Barrio Boy has the Jesus Fish on this shirt. I'm not sure I actually want to
know. Black Family works hard to advance the "tying two opponents together
for simultaneous submission holds" field, and we appreciate that. Also, I'm
waiting for the run-in so I know we're to the finish. And there is indeed one,
when three guys with chairs (Charly Manson, Mr. Aguila, and I'm not sure) run
out and hide in the same exact spot Psicosis did last match, waiting for the
triple tope spot to lift up the chairs and nail the Barrio Boys as they start
their dive. It's a good plan, and works pretty well. Black Family locks all the
Barrio Boys arms together, stands on their knees, and yank on the arm for the
submission - but the ref decides that chair thing should be DQ and awards the
Barrios the match when no one's paying attention.
Match 4: Intocable, Zorro, Heavy Metal (c) vs
Vipers (Psicosis, Histeria, Mosco de el Merced (c))
Tokyo, Japan (Korakuen Hall) - 01/28/05
Winner: tecnicos
Match Time: 8:50
Other Match Notes: Obviously, different arena than the last one. Ring is
the only thing in the building lit, completely different from the other taping -
you can't see the fans. Four sided ring instead of six, too. This is the
semi-final from this show. The odd thing is they were hyping up an
X-Team/Nosawa/TAKA match to start the show. They broke out the cane in about two
and half minutes (timing me be off because I never heard a starting whistle.)
Match seemed fine enough, but I didn't pay that much attention. Post match,
Mosco seemed to run on his teammates, who turned back on him. Two beat on one
pretty fine, and no one seemed to be coming to save Mosco. One guy chanted for
Mosco. When Psicosis brought a chair in, Intocable and Zorro did come back to
run him off. Heavy Metal showed up as well. Mosco got the crowd to cheer him in
the end.
Next Week:
Queretaro: Fabi Apache, Lady Apache, Princesa Blanca vs La Diabolica, Princesa
Sugieth, Tiffany
Queretaro: Intocable, Octagon, Zorro vs Mr. Aguila, Charly Manson, Hator
Queretaro: Gronda, Latin Lover, La Parka vs Abismo Negro, Psicosis, Tinieblas
Jr.
and another match from Japan
