Here’s the Ovaciones description of that second match, in Spanish
Antes: Mike Quankenbuch y Claudio Castaña, norteamericanos que cayeron bien entre la afición. El primero luchó al lado de Skyde en el bando científico, donde salió con su compatriota que estuvo aliado del Aspid.
So you’re saying, I don’t know Spanish, but surely it makes more sense in English.
Before: Mike Quankenbuch and Brown Claudius, North Americans who fell well between the liking. First it fought next to Skyde in the scientific side, where it left with his compatriot who was allied of the Aspid.
See! You’re wrong! Claudio needs a better Mexican press agent if they think he’s from North America.
According to Ovaciones, today is the 45th anniversary of lucha libre in Estado de Mexico. Adolfo Moreno, founder of IWRG, is credited with the first show in the terroritory. IWRG itself started 43 years ago at Arena Algusto, where Anibal, Villano II, Negro Navarro, Los Hermanos Muerte, Rasputin, Dos Caras, Mr. Niebla, Mascara Sagrada, Ocatgon, Hata, Naoki, Hectatombe and many others wrestled. Arena Algusto is long gone now, replaced by Arena Naucalpan, which celebrates it’s 28th anniversary on 12/22. (That’s why we have two IWRG anniversaries this month – I get it now!)
IWRG (THU) 12/01 Arena Naucalpan Lineup

Yes, the IWRG anniversary show is a direct build to the End Of Year main event. Speaking of, “Less than 50%” of tickets (which could theoritically mean “12”) have been sold for tommorow’s Arena Mexico already.

Halcon also reprints an interview with Jack Black about Nacho Libre. They give away what sounds like the climax of the movie, but you probably won’t be too surprised. They refer to it as “inspired” by Fray Tormenta’s story and Jack says he’s never met Tormenta, so don’t expect much more similiarities than “priest wrestles under mask to get money for orphanage.” The same writer from School of Rock, which was pretty good, did this movie.
In the magazine Halcon.net #47 itself.
– recap of the Eddie Guerrero tribute RAW. At the end of the magazine, they recap the SD! tribute show.
– Interview with Blue Panther. The article says he was born on 09/18/80, and I have to say, he’s looking old for a 25 year old. (Typo – it should be 1960.) Panther’s won a lot of titles and masks, but states his greatest trophy is waking up each morning. When asked what’s the secret to being a really good wrestler, Panther says “DISCIPLINE, in captial letters.” Blue Panther doesn’t go on the internet, which seems right.
– next part of O’Campo’s Eddie Guerrero bio. This is worth reading in it’s entireity. Eddie got a mask because they were putting all of the unmasked wrestlers under masks at the time (to make it harder for them to jump?), and his unhappiness with it led him to jumping to AAA (so that didn’t work.) Eddie Guerrero debut in New Japan was helping Pegasus Kid beat up Liger after Liger retained the IWGP Jr. Title over him, and that’s how Eddie and Benoit met.
Talking about AAA, O’Campo says, Gringos Locos domination over tecnicos was the forebearer for WCW’s nWo. That’d be possible if those in WCW were actually watching AAA – O’Campo cites the WCW co-promoted When World’s Collide PPV as proof they were, and Meltzer has always cited only Spicoli being signed from that PPV as proof they weren’t. O’Campo tries to make the case that American wrestling was strictly big men fighting here, and Santo/Octagon vs Barr/Eddie match changed everything, which would be nice if it was true. ECW is next time.
– More of an inteview with Damian. He does not include Blue Demon as a member of Perros del Mal, so I guess I shouldn’t. His neck is doing better. He doesn’t feel AAA did enough with Nicho when he was there foor the last stint. Damian likes the internet, except for the people who spread untrue rumors.
– Q&A with Jeque. He describes his style as “rudo-tecnico.” He claims to have won 5 masks, 3 championships, and 3 hairs. Name one! He lists his religion as Catholic, which leaves me even more confused.
– Poster is Sagrado
– Column about a local fan who passed away.
– Brief bio on Bam Bam. He’s just barely 20 years old, the son of Popitekus Jr. He got his name from the Flintstones.
– Column/bio of Fishman.
