Note: site’s been acting goofy today. Hopefully it’s good now, but since I didn’t actually do anything to fix it this time or last time, don’t be shocked if it’s gone again.
So, I finally found a good picture of the Barrio Boys (Angel de Futuro, the guy in the mask, posted a whole bunch of AAA pics on Box Y Lucha), but now I can’t figure out who’s who. Help? (Click on it for a bigger picture.)

Lots of talk about how the Perros/GdA feud will be a focus of 2006 (which is probably not good news for actual tecnicos! Look at poor Ultimo Dragon there.)
Atlantis vs Mistico is signed for Sunday, but I think we already mentioned that. They’re promising a big show for 01/06/06, which is el Dia de Reyes, a holiday I knew nothing about till five minutes ago.
Halcon reaches issue #50 this week; it’s a shorter TOC, but I got a lot of the interviews. Inside:
– Pictures from Safari and Sangre on tour in NJPW
– Interview with Sangre Azteca, talking about his recent tours with NJ. Sangre says Safari’s injury was to his elbow. Sangre’s not sure exactly how he got this gig: when Chono, Simon Inoki and Kuroneko came to Mexico this past summer, they worked out some wrestlers to test them, and Sangre participated there, and then later he and Koreano trained with Tanahashi and Nakamura, so he figures they must have saw something good in him. Wrestling in Japan has allowed him to move up to the semimains in Arena Coliseo, gotten him some more press, and grown as a person. Sangre is planning to take much of the rest of the month off to recover, but hopes to go after La Mascara’s Mexican Welterweight championship next year, as well as battle Satanico.
– Arena Mexico recap.
– Q&A with Pantera. He runs a glass business when he’s not wrestling. He took his name from a girls basketball team in Aguascalientes.
– Notes. The highest prices seats sold out for the WWE 01/19 show in three hours. LA Park claims his mask match is delayed not because Black Tiger III broke his nose, but because Black Tiger is scaredy cat.
– Interview with Sensei – he’s from Cuernavca. He was born in Mexico, but trained in a (unnamed) martial art from youth, spent some time in Kyoto, and was a big fan of Kato Kung Lee. Sensei explains he wears a mask because he is actually a Ninja! He’s training with Satanico now, and hopes to combine martial arts and lucha libre better than anyone’s done it. (That doesn’t seem like a hard thing to overcome.) Sensei says he’s been wrestling for five years, but lists his debut as June 2005 with no clue about his previous gimmick. This first night with this gimmick, he took the wrong mask to the commission to get checked out, so he had to wrestle with that one. He’s hoping he gets booked more in 2006. Sensei wishes us all Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in Japanesse.
– Aciccion Luchistica column. He chalks up Averno & Mephisto’s win to influence from Satan. I knew I forget to figure in something.
Today, I discovered elmartinete.com – I’ve been there before, but the main site is comedy which doesn’t translate well. The forums are useful, though: What does backyard garbage wrestling look like in Mexico? Much the same, but with more masks. Using a empty 24 Coke box folded is indeed awesome.
CMLL.com has video clips of La Campana, Guerrero Special, and Palanca a los Barzos, as to educate everyone as to what they are. Apparently the Guerrero Special isn’t the move I though it was? They’re also linking to http://www.luchalibrecmll.com, so I guess it’s at least semi-offical.

Good. Thanks!
Just admit you’re laughing at me for knowing that.

That’s weird. Ultimo Guerrero even yells “Guerrero Special” before his Reverse Superplex…

No idea why, but that made me giggle.
