11/19 news

CMLL (FRI) 11/18 Arena Mexico Results [ova]
1) Loco Max, Hooligan, Ramstein b Stuka Jr., Valiente, Trueno ?
2) Misterioso, Okumura, Ohara b Maximo, Texano Jr., Virus
3) Brazo de Plata, Satanico, La Mascara b Apolo Dantes, Sangre Azteca, Hombre Sin Nombre
CMLL.com says Porky’s done with WWE.
4) Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Canek, Mephisto b Mr. Niebla, Ultimo Dragon, Negro Casas
Ovaciones says they built a Perro/Dragon feud here.
5) Universo 2000 DQ Halloween
Damian returned, and caned Universo to get the DQ. Perros beat up Universo after the match.
6) Mistico & El Hijo Del Santo b Ultimo Guerrero & Atlantis
Atlantis tried to fake a foul but wasn’t believed this week, and the tecnicos took it.

No big angle, and, as you see below, no big added matches to the End of Year Show.

CMLL (FRI) 12/02 Arena Mexico Lineup [cmll]
1) Texano Jr., Virus, Stuka Jr. vs Loco Max, Apocalipsis, Arkangel
2) Marcela, Dark Angel, Diana la Cazadora vs Princesa Sujei, Amapola, Hiroka
3) Negro Casas, Blue Panther, Heavy Metal vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Olimpico
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Mistico, Dos Caras Jr. vs Hijo del Perro, Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy
This is odd, because Tarzan’s broken up with Perros del Mal everywhere but Arena Mexico, even as far as fighting Hector this Sunday.
5) Universo 2000 vs Halloween [hair/hair]

Pretty ordinary show.

CMLL also now says they’re going to keep running Arena Mexico till 12/16. Huh.

Tonight’s Arena Mexico card changed

As mentioned by Robert here, and confirmed on the CMLL website.

CMLL (FRI) 11/18 Arena Mexico Lineup [cmll]
1) Stuka Jr., Valiente, Trueno vs Loco Max, Hooligan, Ramstein
2) Maximo, Texano Jr., Virus vs Misterioso, Okumura, Ohara
3) Brazo de Plata, Satanico, La Mascara vs Apolo Dantes, Sangre Azteca, Hombre Sin Nombre
4) Mr. Niebla, Ultimo Dragon, Negro Casas vs Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Canek, Mephisto
5) Universo 2000 vs Halloween
6) Mistico & El Hijo Del Santo vs Ultimo Guerrero & Atlantis

Black Warrior and Olimpico are now both off the card. Speculation, as you can read in that link, is Black Warrior is jumpking to AAA after a (rumored) backstage fight with Hector Garza. No idea what’s up with Olimpico; even given the shuffle, he should be in Apolo Dantes slot.

Universo vs Halloween can’t be semimain here and be main event of EoY show. That’s a juicy tag main event, but I think there’s something more to it, and they’ll be running an angle to set up another match for EoY. I’m not gonna to even take a stab, except to say, if Santo was right in Ovaciones, I owe him a dinner or something. And I don’t even know the man.

I’m so dumb sometimes, I didn’t even notice this is Porky’s return till just now. The SmackDown! bit sure lasted a long time.

I wonder what’s up with HsN and Mephisto swapping spots.

The preview teases Canek vs Perro in their match.

CMLL (MON) 11/14 Arena Puebla Lineup [boxylucha via KrisZ]
1) Area, Fuerza Tiger, Mr. Rafaga vs Iron, King Jaguar, ???
2) Batman, Legionario, Tigre Rojo DQ Furia Chicana, Siki Osama, Toro Billy Jr.
Siki lowblowed Batman
3) Emilio Charles Jr., Nitro, Okumura b Felino, Sagrado, Volador Jr.
4) Dos Caras Jr., Heavy Metal, Negro Casas DQ Averno, Mephisto, Olimpico
Mephisto low blowed Heavy
5) Tarzan Boy b Mr. Aguila
Said to be bad.

In the Ovaciones build to tonight’s Arena Mexico show, Santo challenges Atlantis to a mask vs mask match, which of course has much chance of happening anytime soon as Santo versus me in a mask vs mask match. Santo defends the slim chance of this (him vs Atlantis, not him vs me) happening by pointing out no one thought his father would face Black Shadow, and no one thought Blue Demon Sr. would face Rayo de Jalisco, but they happened. I’m not counting out Santo vs Atlantis from ever happening, but it wouldn’t happen till they’re both much older and looking for an easy big day. They’re not now, so it won’t happen now.

This reminds me that I wish Black Shadow Jr. was a bigger star, just because it’s a cool name. If I ever go into super hero-ing, I’m totally using “[something] Shadow” gimmick for my name. (Just don’t tell anyone it’s me.)

AAA announced dates for it’s Central American tour
– 11/30: Guatemala
– 12/01: Honduras
– 12/02: Panama
– 12/03: Costa Rica
– 12/04: El Salvador
Scheduled to compete: Ocatgon, La Parka II, Intocable, Zorro, Brazo, Alebrije (w/Cujie), Martha Villalobos, El Angel, Barrio Boys, Mascarita Sagrada, Cibernetico, Abisimo Negro, Chessman, Pirata Morgan, Charly Manson, Monsther (w/Chucky), el Apache, Tiffany, Black Family, Mini Abismo, Pimpinela, May Flowers

With those names, I think I can take a pretty good stab at the card.

1) el Apache, Mini Abismo, Tiffany, May Flowers vs el Brazo, Mascarita Sagrada, Martha Villalobos, Pimpinela
2) Black Family vs Barrio Boys
3) el Angel, Alebrije (w/Cujie), Zorro vs Pirata Morgan, Charly Manson, Monsther (w/ Chucky)
4) Ocatgon, La Parka II, Intocable vs Abismo Negro, Chessman, Cibernetico
You could make some switches, but that’s probably the general idea.

Their year end card, Guerra de Titanes, will happen on 12/10 in Jalisco, though they haven’t actually picked the building. Details, details. You know, on paper at least, even AAA’s main event is going to beat Halloween vs Universo. They really better have a heck of a semi-main; I don’t think Misterioso II vs La Mascara would cut it.

AAA’s planning to air the famous Eddie Guerrero & Art Barr vs el Hijo del Santo & Octagon match from When World’s Collide this week on it’s (Mexican) TV show this weekend.

Topic on the Box Y Lucha board: Is Ernesto O’Campo related to Angel Blanco? It’s worth the trip for the side by side photo.

11/16 news

CMLL (TUE) 11/15 Arena Aficion Results [boxylucha]
Card was shuffled up quite a bit; no Dos Caras Jr. or Mr. Aguila in the main event, and people being moved around to fill
1) ?
2) Skayde & Tony Boy b Titan & Blade
3) Misterioso II & Trueno b Dr. Cerebro & Cerebro Negro
4) Arkangel LOST Mr. Niebla, Terrible, Volador Jr.[cage]
Nothing particularly on the line, but escape rules. Report was very down on this match.

IWRG (THU) 11/17 Arena Naucalpan Lineup [iwrg]
1) Antaris vs Carta Brava
2) “30 wrestlers in action” [battle revolucionaria]
I’m thinking Royal Rumble

IWRG (SUN) 11/20 Arena Naucalpan Lineup [iwrg]
1) Freezby vs Rey Estruendo
2) Gran Cuchillo & Panterita vs Carta Brava & Paramedico
3) Suicida, Ultra Mega, Avisman vs Pirata Morgan Jr., Nemesis, Kaleth
4) Veneno, Dr. Cerebro, Cerebro Negro vs Nitro, Dr. X, Crazzy Boy

Texano Tribute (THU) 11/24 Arena Coliseo Lineup [ova]
1)
2)
3)
4) El Trio Fantasy vs Los Payasos
5) Los Cadets del Espacio vs Villano IV & Villano V & Rambo vs Texano Jr., Indomito, el Signo vs Los Brazos
6) Dr. Wagner, Silver King, Heavy Metal vs Canek, Hector Garza, Scorpio Jr.

Ovaciones also talks about the 12/02 main event. Nothing much of note, though the contract hasn’t officially been signed (which just means they have done the press conference yet.) You know, it’s not a good sign about the company’s creativity when they run the angle (“tombstone” = revenge!) for two straight major shows; that’s how we get the Garza/Perro/Universo three way, and that’s Halloween’s motivation here. I’d almost think it was on purpose, but they’re not bringing up the previous Tombstone, so I figure it’s just laziness.

Tonight’s Arena Neza main event is Heavy Metal, Felino, and Metro versus Misterioso II, Tarzan Boy and Arkangel. Satanico and Emilio Charles Jr. have signed for a hair match here, date to be announced. I’d also rather see that match than Halloween/Universo.

AAA’s going to run another tour in Central and South American. Panama and Guatemala are on the list.

El Halcon Net #45 is up
– Lead story is Eddie’s death
– Interview with Rey Bucanero! He started training for wrestling at age 8, because it was the sort of family; he says he’s a four generation wrestler. Rey says they defended the tag team titles 40 times. He explains the name change to GdA because Atlantis having been around for a decade before they even started. The kid who ran the GdI site moved, so that’s why the site isn’t there any more – they hope to get it back. Rey’s plans for the immediate future are to finish off the Perros and be the toughest team in town.
– Arena Mexico recap. The writer says “If Kenzo had a clue and knew what he was doing, he’d be HUGE”, but in a kinder fashion.
– Q & A with Sagrado. He says he’s never worked under another name. Should a man of God really be lying? Sagrado says he got the name from a soap opera, and his biggest payday is $10,000. What!
– Arena Coliseo Sunday shows start airing on 11/27, showing the previous week’s show. They’re supposed to be airing on channel 52 MX. In the US, deep in your digital cable/satellite system, you may have something called CAN52I, which I believe is the international version of that same channel. There’s a LLL show there I’ve never watched (I believe it’s reruns – actually, I believe this channel is part of the Spanish Language block which I don’t pay for), but I don’t see an Arena Coliseo one. It’s different version of the same channel, so it’d be reasonable if it did not, but I’m sure tapes of it will start showing by early next year.
– NGW show recap.
– Solar Poster
– Quick info on Polvora.
– Eddie bio
– PAR results from last Sunday. Main was LA Park & Blue Demon over Ultimo Dragon and Kenzo Suzuki.
– Quick note on Dark Angel; her right arm is in a cast due to an elbow injury from two weeks ago, and they’re not sure if she’ll need surgery.

Lucha Times

Saturday: Because they’re do a special tribute show to a long running comedy show, there’s no afternoon airing this week – the only time new lucha will air is the overnight 3a-5a slot. For those willing to stay up that late, you get AAA this week, assuming the pattern holds. I really have no idea which episode will air, of course.

Sunday: Ordinary time for an ordinary show.

12/02 main event confirmed

CMLL.com’s latest update says Halloween vs Universo 2000 for hairs is signed for 12/02.

I’m actually more annoyed that it’s Wednesday, they’ve updated the site twice, and they haven’t found the time to mention Eddie’s death.

Sangre and Safari will be gone from 11/29 to 12/12.
