Sunday Arena Coliseo TV

I don’t have a good idea what’s going on here.

TV.yahoo – which gets the standard listings used pretty much everywhere, doesn’t have anything lucha related for Saturday or Sunday on Cana 52 International.

However, the Canal52 site (visit the EU version; if you’re seeing listings for SmackDown, you’re looking at the wrong one) has a lineup for Saturday which does include Lucha Libre CMLL: Guerrers del Ring at 11:30 CST (I think) on Saturday, and 3:00 CST on Sunday.

So, like I said, no idea. This channel, usually listed on CAN52I, is only on Comcast systems, typically in a digital Spanish language tier, so you may not have access to it unless you’re already paying for it. I do have Comcast, so I’ll check out what their onscreen TV listings say when I get home.

It is definetely airing in Mexico and surely will show up on DVD soon after.

UPDATE!!!: Surfed thru the Comcast listings

Good: there is a lucha show which matches those times on that channel
Bad: the show is named Lucha Libre LLL.
Working Theory: someone screwed up on the name.

Good: surprisingly, I actually get this channel. (603 and 652 here, if you’re looking for places to start – Comcast only.)
Bad: That cable box isn’t a DVR, it’s not near my TiVO or computer, and I don’t know how if I can attach a VCR to it
Working Theory: the 90 minutes I wasted grabbing a VCR and figuring it out and hooking it up and hoping it works isn’t going to be a waste.

So, yea, I’ll record it (note to Robert: Yes. Eventually) and let you know when I know, okay? Okay.

1) Cancerbero Jr. & Fuerza Killer b Gallo Giro & Astro Boy
2) Buitre, Red Terror, Sombra Guerrera b Rocko Marvin, Caballero Imperial, Junior
3) Indomable b Fuerza Negra
4) Dr. Crimen, Practicante, Quimico, Hijo del Buitre b Michael, Rey Egipto, Ferrari Jr., Sangre Y Fuego
Michael replaced Conquistador, who was not medically cleared to wrestle. Dr. Crimen snuck a piledriver on Sangre Y Fuego for the win, and he took a stretch out.
5) Estrellita & Billy Boy b El Apache & Tiffany
6) Cibernetico, Abismo Negro, Chessman b La Parka, Luzbel, Zorro
Chessman low blowed La Parka.

Scanning thru the Sunday/Tuesday Coliseo results on CMLL.com

– they’ve listed the dark match opener (not taped for TV): Flash & Magia Negra vs Cyber Black & Angel Perversos
– Super Comando and Artillero have gotten a team name, los Guerrilleros
– Caligula’s green outfit is awesome. Pastel colors only work in lucha.
– Teams for the Cibernetico were actually quite different than what was originally listed:
A: Pantera, Tigre Blanco (no La Mascara), Leono, El Gato (no Maximo)
B: Nitro, Dr. X, Mr. Mexico, La Arana (no Arkangel)
I haven’t heard Arana and Gato before, so I’m guessing they’re trainees.
– They don’t know how they want to spell Zayco.
– Apocalipsis has a new mask.

Emilio Charles Jr. beat Satanico in their Arena Neza hair match last night. BOOOOOOO! If I go to Sunday’s Congress show, I try to steal a camera to confirm Satanico’s baldness.

AAA canceled their 12/02 Costa Rica show, after not being happy with setup there. They’re still running Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador.

Next week’s Averno & Mephisto vs Negro Casas & Heavy Metal match in Puebla is confirmed for the titles.

Ultimo Guerrero says he’s ready to put up his mask versus Santo’s mask any time, any place. If this were a yaysports blog, the headline for this item would be “Ultimo Guerrero is completely insane.” Ultimo also notes Santo hasn’t won any big match this time thru Arena Mexico, and pretty much calls Santo a loser. Ultimo is looking fate in the eye, laughing a hearty laugh, daring fate to strike him down in a horrible fashion. Should be a good match tonight.

The Halloween/Perro/Garza vs Pierroth/Mascara2K/Universo is now a street fight, so expect that to be crazy and Damian to intefere at the very least.

11/24 news

And happy Thanksgiving to you. Or, as they call in Mexico, Thursday.

Did you read yesterday’s post? Where Is Felino, we all wondered. Late Wednesday night, just scooting around the Internet, I checked out Halcon’s site to preview what was in this week’s Halcon. Just so you know, I did smile big when I saw “Interview with Felino.” I’ll go out of order to tackle that, since Halcon is now officaly Awesome.

Inside El Halcon Net #46
– Taboo Tuesday recap. Author brings up Vader’s run in UWA in the ’90s.
– Ernesto O’Campo starts a multi-part Eddie Guerrero bio, getting just to before his EMLL debut.
– Notes column. What I didn’t put together yesterday is the Nacho Libre movie I mentioned Silver King and IWRG being involved in yesterday is actually the Jack Black lucha movie loosely based on the life of Fray Tormenta (or at least his concept of a wrestling priest). Before, I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Jack Black lucha theme movie, but now that we’ve got Silver King on board, I’m thinking I’ll keep an open mind.
– Interview with Felino. Here’s the reason: he’s going through a divorce (and not that any are fun, but this one sounds complicated), and he’s focusing on working thru that right now. Both the interviewer and (the guy under the mask of) Felino appear to talk about Felino in the third person thru the discussion, which is definetly crazy – also in the vein, they have a picture of him with the magazine tucked in the front of his pants. It sounds like Felino took that a mask and an assumed named because he was working in a bank at the time. He was thrilled to work for NJPW and hopes he gets the chance again. Felino wouldn’t mind teaming with his brothers, but he’s doesn’t feel it needs to happen – if they do, they do.
– Arena Mexico recap. Despite being many signs for him, there was no moment of silence for Eddie Guerrero. That’s sad. Is there something between the Guerreros and CMLL?
– Interview with Damian. He talks about the start of career, and the start of his hardcore wrestling.
– Interview with Metro. Metro unconfuses me and explains the Metro who’s sponosring him is the Metro newspaper. Feel free to make fun of me next time I screw that up. In some nice work, they design the section like it’s a section of the Metro newspaper. Metro, while not talking about who he was previously, does mention he was one of 30 people who tried out for the role. He claims no relation with the Metro in Guadalajara. I enjoyed all three interviews this week.
– Poster is Pierroth. Print it out and hang it on your wall.
– Photos of people with and without their mask includes Terrible’s previous identity as el Engendro.
– LLF recap
– Notes column. They’re running their own awards – go check ’em out and vote there too.

Main is listed as a title match in the Box Y Lucha description, and not on CMLL. So we’ll wait and figure it out.

Semimain was said to be real good.

Tonight’s the Texano Tribute show in Arena Coliseo.

CMLL.com now mentions and lists the changed lineup for this Friday’s show.

Ovaciones runs down the 12/02 lineup. No changes. Yet?

AAA’s running Guerrea de Titanes on 12/10 in Monumental “Nuevo Progress” in Guadalajara. Main will be Shocker vs Sangre Chicana in a hair/hair match.

I blanked on doing lucha times last night, so they’ll be coming a bit later. There will be an update tommorow, and if you’re lucky, I’ll be in a horrible mood for it. Join us!

11/23 news

CMLL (MON) 11/21 Arena Puebla Lineup [box y lucha forum, KrisZ]
1) Espiritu Maligno & Mr. Rafaga b Forajido & Sol de Fuego
2) Blue Center, the Tigre, Tigre Rojo DQ Bobby Jack, Karisma, Tarahumara
3) Centella de Oro, Lestat, Volador Jr. DQ Enterrador Dos Mil, Escandalo, Furia Chicana
4) Heavy Metal, La Mascara, Negro Casas b Averno, Mepshito, Hijo de Cien Caras
Metal and Casas challenged to another shot at the tag team titles; probably next week here.
5) LA Park, Dr. Wagner, Mistico, Lizmark Jr. b GDI (Olimpico, Rey Bucanero, Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero)

CMLL (TUE) 11/22 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
1) Molotov, Zetta b Polvora, Vaquero
2) Kronos, Stuka Jr., Trueno b Ramstein, Renegado, Zayco
Renegado’s debut. Anyone want to take a guess?
3) Texano Jr., Tony Rivera, Crazy Boy b Hooligan, Nitro, Apocalipsis
4) Tarzan Boy, Mascara Ano 2000, Terrible b Brazo de Plata, Felino, Satanico
Brazo de Plata is apparently telling everyone he’s not done with WWE, but he’s actually just waiting for them to call him back and sign the contract. I guess this has a better chance of happening than Tanaka coming back. And I didn’t believe the Mexicools were coming in till they actually did.
5) Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Averno, Mephisto b Mistico, Negro Casas, Blue Panther
Perro challenged Mistico to a NWA MW Title match, no date announced. Last time they tried that, they couldn’t get Perro under the weight limit, so who knows.

Toryumon Mexico (SAT) 12/10 Arena Coliseo Lineup [DGUSA]

7) [Young Dragon Cup, Semifinal]
8) Hiromi Horiguchi, Amigo Suzuki, Arkangel de la Muerte vs Misterioso II, La Mascara, Black Warrior
9) [Young Dragon Cup, Final]
10) Ultimo Dragon, Dr. Wagner Jr., Mistico vs Kenzo Suzuki, Atlantis, Scorpio Jr.

I have two competting theories about how they came up with Halloween vs Universo as a Big Main Event!
1) CMLL is completely content with their business, to the point where they don’t care about even harming future business by being lame. Robert covered this idea pretty well in yesterday’s comments.
2) for the second time in about 5 months, CMLL planned on a Big Match, built to a Big Match, and when it came time to sign for that Big Match, they found out they couldn’t actually get it to happen. This time, it’s Perro vs Universo, and neither guy is willing to lose his hair at this point. (And maybe, if CMLL wasn’t doing well, they would offer enough to make it happen, but since they don’t need to, they aren’t.)

The competition isn’t really what actually happened, but which sounds worse.

Resolving something with the Trios titles sounds about right, but I don’t think they’ll get to multiple titles (especially with Averno & Mephisto vs Los Casas working it’s way thru the B-shows) at least during the Arena Mexico season; maybe they’ll set something up for the first week of Friday shows at Arena Coliseo.

This week, they’re filiming a movie called Nacho Libre in Arena Naucalpan with wrestlers being involved. Silver King is specifically mentioned – perhaps because he can be three wrestlers at the price of one? They’re filming from 11/21 to 12/01, and the movie is due to be released in 2006, though no specific date is mentioned.

IWRG is running shows celebrating it’s 43rd anniversary show on 12/01 and on 12/22.

Got those WWA Tag Team Titles include on the roster now, along with a few minor things. (I made it possible to vacant a title, for instance.)

Has anyone seen Felino lately? Is he hurt?

11/22 news

Ovaciones today covered “next Friday”‘s card. Which, oddly enough, is not next Friday’s card.

CMLL (FRI) 11/25 Arena Mexico Lineup [ova]
1) Leono & Valiente vs Super Comando & Artillero
2) Volador Jr., Virus, Sagrado vs Sangre Azteca, Hombre Sin Nombre, Misterioso II
3) Mr. Niebla, La Mascara, Black Warrior vs Rey Bucanero, Tarzan Boy, Olimpico
4) Universo 2000, Mascara Ano 2000, Pierroth vs Hector Garza, Perro Aguayo Jr., Halloween
5) Heavy Metal, Blue Panther, Negro Casas vs Averno, Mephisto, Atlantis
6) Ultimo Guerrero vs el Hijo del Santo

The first three matches and much of the fourth match are matches from this week’s lineup, so I believe they’ve actually just shuffled things for this Friday. This lineup leaves Negro Casas, Blue Panther, Atlantis, Averno and Mephisto out in the cold, and so I wonder if there’s another trios match I’m missing here. CMLL.com doesn’t mention any of this, and still has the original lineup.

Not only is Ultimo vs Santo far more interesting than Halloween vs Universo, but something’s odd about them being ahead of that match again if that’s supposed to be a big match. Neither Ultimo or Santo were booked for 12/02, so they could be doing a quick build to a title match there (both have one), or something later in the month since they’re now running two more Fridays.

CMLL (THU) 11/26 Arena Neza Lineup [ova]
1) ?
2) ?
3) Mistico, Negro Casas, La Mascara vs Perro Aguayo Jr., Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero
4) Emilio Charles Jr. vs Satanico [hair/hair]

Amapola and Marcela are headed to Japan to work for Michinoku Pro for two weeks. (So I guess they’re off the 12/02 show? Is there someone who covers MPro?) Tzuki and Bracito de Oro are headed, uh, somewhere, till the end of the month. The wording wasn’t too clear.

Atlantis met with the female soccer player who wore his mask after scoring a goal last Friday, so I assume that’ll make TV.
