CMLL (TUE) 10/25 Arena Aficion Results [ova]
1) ?
2) ?
3) ?
There was a locals elimination match in the prelims, but I haven’t been able to make heads or tails of it all week.
4) Metro & Sagrado b Caligula and Mesela
5) Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero DDQ Mistico & Dr. Wagner Jr.
In the final fall, Atlantis pulled Mistico’s mask, Dr. Wagner pulled Atlantis’ mask, Ultimo Guerrero pulled Dr. Wagner’s mask, and Mistico pulled Ultimo Guerrero’s mask. The referee had enough of that and called the match. Think they could be overdoing that spot?

Ovaciones says Los Dos Tigres may get a CMLL World Tag Team title shot Real Soon Now.

They’ve also got coverage from the Mascara Sagrada press conference. It sounds like the only news is only the original Sagrada can use that name, but AAA seems to have been heading that way for a while.

Super Lucha #42 is up. Yay.
– Part one of a TWO part Ernesto O’Campo interview. Skim. He says the day to day business of running Super Lucha was ruining his health – he was going deaf, and he was walking with a cane. I haven’t found quite the same problems running this site. He still owns the magazine, but he’s taking a break from it, letting other people handle it.

Ernesto talks about running the XLAW promotion (which I didn’t realize he did, but it makes sense); he wanted to use the ROH “make the money back on the tapes”, but there were too many people making pirated copies to make it work. Once he recovers, he wants to run shows on a more consistent basis.

Next part includes most of the Dark Angel stuff.

– Interview with Neutron. Sadly, not a two parter. Neutron got his name and look from a movie. He’s still not 100% recovered from the knee injury, and he thinks they may have to operate on it again. He trained for lucha without telling his parents. Does anyone tell their parents, if their parent’s already wrestling? He would like to beat Dr. X and Sangre Azteca for their masks – make the match! Most importantly, Neutron tells us to say no to drugs.

– FFL recap.
– Tigre Blanco MORPHS into a Tigre poster.
– An article about the career of Tinieblas (Sr.), as he’ll be starting a retirement tour in the near future. he’s been wrestling for 34 years.
– Arena Coliseo Monterrey results for 10/25 TUE (indy) and 10/23 SUN (AAA)
– Interview with Angel Infernal

IWRG Castle of Terror Lineup

I didn’t realize IWRG actually updated their notes page.

They’ve got the lineup, so far, as
– Dr. Wagner
– Blue Demon Jr.
– Fantasma Jr.
– Cerebro Negro

– Universo 2000
– Veneno
– Masada
– Bestia Salvaje

They don’t list the last two, but that’s what we’ve been told in Ovaciones. So we’re short one mask and one hair.

There’s also hype for a 12/05 debut of Pirata Moreno; guess they don’t plan on updating again soon.

CMLL (MON) 10/24 Arena Puebla Results [box y lucha foro]
1) La Mafia & Black Master b Fenix & Kirvan
2) Bobby Jack, Tarahumara, Ares el Guerrero b Furia Chicana, Fuerza Chicana, Mr. Rafaga
3) Siki Osama, Skandalo, Kraven b Lestat, Tigre Rojo, Batman
4) Mascara Sagrada, Black Warrior, La Mascara b Rey Bucanero, Averno, Mephisto
5) Atlantis, Mascara Ano 2000, Universo 2000 b Mistico, Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr.
They built up a Atlantis/Dos Caras match.

CMLL (TUE) 10/25 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
1) Fire & Sombrita b Mini Olimpico & Bractio de Oro
2) Leono, Danger, Molotov b Ramstein, Super Comando, Artillero
3) Texano Jr. Tigre Metalico, Pantera, Tony Rivera b Loco Max, Hooligan, Arkangel
Metalico was said to look good.
4) Satanico, Lizmark, Texano Jr. Black Warrior b Olimpico, Hijo de Pierroth, Emilio Charles Jr.
5) Dos Caras Jr., Hijo de Lizmark, Blue Panther b Pierroth, Averno, Mephisto
A fire alarm – or some alarm – went off immediatly after the match ended. Everyone left, so there wasn’t much of a post match to set something up.

Ovaciones doesn’t have full reports from the 10/20 AAA show, but does mention Electroshock’s return, and El Hijo del Fantasma won the contenders cibernetico for the MEX Middleweight title. They’ve apparently stripped the MEX Mixed Tag championshps from Fabi Apache and Gran Apache (because Gran Apache turned rudo?), because there’s an announcement for a future tournament, with these peairs.
– Joseline & Ultraman Jr.
– Woman Demente & Charly Manson
– Estrellita & Billy Boy
– Tiffany & Gran Apache
– Hechicera & Cuervo
– Martha Villalobos & Brazo
– Diabolica & Chessman
– Cinthia Moreno & Oriental

Perhaps Fabi Apache is hurt or gone? Not sure. AAA sure is a black hole for news. I wonder if one of those teams gets dumped for Electro/Lady Apache.

Dr. Wagner Jr. and Blue Demon Jr. will be putting their masks up as part of the 5 mask/5 hair IWRG match coming up. Ovaciones suggests Cerebro Negro and Lizmark Jr. will also to be added to the match (which so far includes Veneno, Masada and Bestia.) I don’t think we’ve heard the losers names yet.

La Mascara will hone in Mistico’s gig, and defend his MEX Welterweight Championship against Averno in Arena Neza at some point in the future – Thursday? Dunno.

Super Porky does not appear on SmackDown! this week, according to the reports.

There’s previews for elHalcon.net #42 in some of the forums, but it doesn’t appear to be offically up yet. (Though, if you type in the right things, you can check out the Tigre Blanco poster a day early.) The lead story appears to be an interview with Ernesto O’Campo, so I think I can wait a day.

Lucha Va Voom sold out both their shows for tonight and tommorow in LA.

I need a nap.

10/25 news

Texano’s health status is the lead story on boxylucha.com. He’s in intensive care, on a ventilator, and it doesn’t sound good.

Inside Box Y Lucha #2737
Cover includes Texano in the hospital and Negro Casas in Japan.
– Novemeber calendar poster is GdA
– The Villanos do an interview where the writer mentions how they haven’t lost a step since leaving CMLL, and the Villanos say they’re doing great and have lots of opportunities – though, you know, if CMLL or a promoter wants to call them for bookings at any time for anything at all, they’d be willing to talk.
– Negro Casas talks about his appearance in NJPW. He got to take his wife with him to Japan.
– Santo talks about LdP. He also wonders why Perro Jr. isn’t involved, but reminds us Perro didn’t want the trophy last time (because he felt the Aguayos > Santos), so perhaps that’s why he wasn’t invited. Decent logic.
– Gran Markus Jr. is on the road back to the ring! Be very afraid. I thought he was out due to heart issues, but here he says it was due to a brain injury, “vein of the cerebellum burst.” He’s better now. He’s been occasionally refereeing (under the name Tony Benetto), but he wants to make a full return to the ring. He’s upset someone is using the Hijo de Gran Markus name and wants them to stop.

Ovaciones has an interview with the new Hombre Sin Nombre. They list him as making his Arena Mexico debut, having been a rudo in northern Mexico, but that may just be a cover story. Showing he’s at least aware of what’s going on, HsN wants to pair up with Atlantis, beat up Mistico, and end Negro Casas’ career. It’s good to have goals.

Best insane guess: Anyone seen Incognito lately? (Dumb question.) It only works if you tell people who he used to be.

I haven’t been tracking Sangre Azteca and Starman in NJ, because I figured they were going to lose a whole lot (and they probably should be losing – they’re definite underdogs at this point), and they’ve been very thorough, losing every match so far. Hope they’re impressing people.

Taken from the boxylucha forum: cover of Guerrereo del Ring #6.

If I’m reading this right, this guy is selling the Santo and Demon comics. For what it’s worth.

CMLL (FRI) 10/21 Arena Mexico Results [box y lucha]
1) Bam Bam & Mini Olimpico b Pierrothito & Mini Violencia
2) Sagrado, Texano, Maximo b Masada, Loco Max, Nitro
3) Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Hector Garza, Terrible b Universo 2000, Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero
Ovaciones was down on this match.
4) Atlantis, Jado, Gedo b Dr. Wagner, Dos Caras Jr., Hijo de Lizmark
5) Mistico, El Hijo del Santo, Negro Casas b Mr. Aguila, Damian 666, Halloween
CMLL.com pushes a feud between Mistico and Mr. Aguila.

CMLL (SUN) 10/23 Arena Coliseo Results [box y lucha]
1) Rayo Tapatios I & II, Zetta b Artillero, Zayko, Cobalto
2) Hooligan, Guerrero del Futuro, Apocalipsis b Kronos, Valiente, Danger
3) Lizmark, Safari, Brazo de Oro b Emilio Charles Jr., Hijo de Pierroth, Canek Jr.
4) Mistico, Dos Caras Jr., Negro Casas, Black Warrior DQ Ultimo Guerrero, Olimpico, Jado, Gedo
Jado and Gedo are reported to look good in the lucha style. Ultimo had a chance to win, but decided to low blow Black Warrior instead. Huh.
5) Rey Bucanero b Heavy Metal
Metal had taped ribs. Rey uses the ropes for the final pin.

According to KrisZ, both Electroshock (jump to CMLL) and Intocable (spinal injury) have returned to action in AAA. I’d assume this means Lady Apache should turn back up there as well. The CMLL crowd (and likely, some of the office) turned on Elektro pretty quick, he and didn’t appear to be getting high profile indy bookings, so this was just a matter of time. Intocable’s outlook was upgraded a few days after he was initially told never to wrestle again, but this is still an awful quick recovery.

Puroresu Fan says CMLL is in negotiations with NJPW to bring in Brock Lesnar. That’d be interesting. I have no idea who you’d choose to face him (too bad Porky’s gone) or how to work it at all, but I’d like to see them try.

On Saturday, Arkangel did an interview in Ovaciones, a little bit bemoaning his lack of publicity. Good reason to do an interview. He challenge Mistico to a title match, hoping to take a little air out of his balloon and pointing out he’s defended the title against the same guy most of the time. Ark’s 17 year old son was with him; he’s proud of his father’s wrestling but doesn’t plan on going into it.

Mascara Sagrada is supposed to have a press conference today to talk about his ownership of that name.

Another Texano tribute show will take place on 11/17 in Arena Coliseo. As mentioned last week, he’s back in the hospital – the articles seem to indicate it’s because of a relapse, and not the get the additional surgery he had mentioned.

El Hijo del Diablo will be facing El Hijo del Santo for masks in Tijuana, date to be announced. Devil versus Saint, seems fair enough.

Veneno, Bestia Salvaje, and Masada will be in the 11/03 IWRG 10 Man loser loses mask/hair match. Two more people will put their hair up, and five will put up their masks.
