07/07 news

Ovaciones is on the quiet side today.
– interview with Matrix, talking about his feuds with Veneno and Cyborg, as hype for tonight’s IWRG card
– Maximo beat Conde 2000 in a hair match
– Groon’s due back in CMLL on 07/24 (Sunday Arena Coliseo show), and will work shows in Quertaro and Xochimilco
– AAA’s 07/29 taping is not neccesarily the Verano de Escandalo show anymore. (Still haven’t seen results for that 07/03 presumed taping)

Halcon.net’s latest edition is up. Since they couldn’t use Ovaciones info either last week (and they seem to be short an interview of an unknown), there’s a couple more columns than usual.

The main interview is with Konnan. In character (I assume), he rips many: Cibernetico and La Parka II are clowns and no one outside of Mexico knows who they are, Latin Lover’s invited to Konnan’s classes whenever he’s ready to learn how to wrestle, the ‘stars’ of AAA/LLL complaining about being pushed down the card because of new guys need to be quiet down because they were never really stars to begin with, and no one filled Konnan’s spot the seven years he was gone, so he had to come back and do it himself.

The other interviews are with Solar I (questionaire) and LLF’s Nikki Roxx. There’s the usual recaps for Arena Mexico (check out LA Park’s outfit), LLF, Arena Solidaridad and AAA in Monterrey (which is the same day as that missing taping but a different location.) Way in the back notes section, there’s a mention Mistico leaves for Japan on 07/17, so I presume he won’t be around for the Leyenda de Azul.

3) Pirata Morgan Jr., Nemesis, Kaleth b Kung Fu Jr., Fantasma Jr., Rey de Corazones

oh man, Star BOY and Star MAN in the same match. Stripers challenged Cerebros to a title match despite the loss.
5) GdI (Ultimo, Rey, Olimpico) b Corporacion (Scorpio Jr., Black Pentagon, Black Tiger)
This is listed as Olimpico’s debut in IWRG. Bloody match. GdI wanted a shot at the IWRG IC Trios Title after the match.

AAA (FRI) 07/01 Gimnasio Jose Maria Areaga, Quereatro Results [tv taping] [ova]
1) Octagoncito, La Parkita, Mascarita Sagrada ?? Mini Psicosis, Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Chessman
2) Barrio Boys (Alan, Decnis, Billy Boy) b Exoticos (Polvo de Estrellas, Sexy Francis, Sexy Piscis)
3) Chessman, Mr. Aguila, Hator b Luzbel, Alan Stone, El Brazo
El Brazo was dressed like Intocable.
4) El Zorro, Psi-Histeria, Antifaz DDQ Charly Manson, Psicosis, Zumbido El Castigador
El Castiagdor translates to “the Punisher”; I dunno if it’s Zumbido under a mask but that’s the easy guess. According to the report, the finish was a Manson fan attacking Hijo de Tirantes at the same time Oriental ran into help the tecnicos.
5) Cibernetico, Abismo Negro, Fuerza Guerrera b La Parka, Shocker, Octagon
Ovaciones mentions Shocker is feuding with Abismo, and wasn’t getting along with his own partners.

CMLL (TUE) 07/05 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
1) Polvora & Vaquero b Rayo Tapatios
2) Leono, Sombra de Plata, Valiente b Super Comando, Jeque, Artillero
3) Texano Jr., Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico b Dr. X, Arkangel, Apocalipsis

5) Mistico, Black Warrior, Blue Panther b Ultimo Guerrero, Averno, Mephisto
Mistico and Blue Panther challenged Averno and Mephisto to a tag team title match.

AAA’s website is gone; probably had to with why it wasn’t updated for months. There’s another version at http://www.luchalibreaaa.com/, but it’s in Japanese. It’s for their Gaora Sports airings.

Some lamer exploited an unpatched hole in phpboards and blew up superlucha’s board. It’d be great if they made a backup because there was a ton of information on there in old reports and listings and such, but I doubt it.

07/05 news [2]

Ovaciones site (www.ova.com.mx) seemed to be down most of the week, or at least I couldn’t get it. It’s back up today, so I dunno. They have nothing much today.

late add: Yesterday, there was a note on the Leyenda de Azul cibernetico; it’s scheduled to take place the second half of the month, which probably means the 22nd or the 29th. They’re keeping with “the biggest names possible” concept.

Last week, they had a blurb on Black Tiger deciding to leave Mexico and go back to Japan (hahaha; the timing of the gimmick change and the meeting with NJPW over the G1 tournament seems too close to be concidental), and a note that the Stone Brothers have indeed been stripped of the Arena Coliseo Tag Team Championship and new champions would be crowned at some point.

Lucha Insider says Halloween was booked to lose the Cage of Death at one point, refused, and now is on the outs with CMLL.

In the same blurb where Koreano is listed as Apocalipsis, they say Brazo de Plata Jr. is Kronos – but he’s listed as wrestling his original name this week. Maybe he turned back time and stopped the gimmick from ever happening?

Halcon.net notes
– ENSEMA has suspended it’s anniversay show, and any shows at this point
– Interview with LA Park. When talking with Pena to come up with his gimmick orginally, they figured he was into a death, so why not be a skeleton? I think he alleges he was going to win the lawsuit over the gimmick, but his lawyers were bought off, so he had to start all over with new ones, and by that time, he was happy just to make a deal and move on. He’s calling the code red “Code Red”, so I should be able to remember that.
– Chono at last week’s Arena Mexico show. That must’ve been wonderful; you’re trying to impress your guests from Japan, and that main event happens.
– Dr. X, who says Dr. Wagner is the best rudo, and Dr. Wagner is the best tecnico. Doctors gotta stick together.

CMLL (TUE) 07/05 Arena Coliseo Lineup [cmll]
1) Rayo Tapatios vs Polvora & Vaquero
2) Leono, Sombra de Plata, Valiente vs Super Comando, Jeque, Artillero
3) Texano Jr., Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico vs Dr. X, Arkangel, Apocalipsis
4) Sagrado, Lizmark, Felino vs Pierroth, Emilio Charles Jr., Hijo de Pierroth
5) Mistico, Black Warrior, Blue Panther vs Ultimo Guerrero, Averno, Mephisto

IWRG (THU) 07/07 Arena Naucalpan Lineup [iwrg]
1) Mr. Libra vs Rey Estruendo
2) Rey de Corazones & Panterita vs Fantasma de la Opera vs Carta Brava
3) Stripers (Star BOY & Marco Rivera) vs Coprorativos (Dr. Cererbo & Cerebro Negro)
4) Corporacion (Black Tiger, Scorpio Jr., Veneno) vs “Invasion Japonesa” (Okumura, Masada, Taguchi)
It would be hilarious if kept the gimmick going in IWRG. Actually, doesn’t he have to turn in this match?
5) Grond XXX, Villano III, Matrix vs Pierroth, Olimpico, Cyborg

CMLL (FRI) 07/08 Arena Mexico Lineup [cmll]
1) Leono & Stuka Jr. vs Ramstein & Flecha
2) Tony Rivera, Maximo, Virus vs Okumura, Masada, Taguchi
3) Bronco, Brazo de Plata, Satanico vs Universo 2000, Mascara 2000, Apolo Dantes
4) LA Park, Dos Caras Jr, el Hijo del Lizmark vs Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy, Pierroth
5) Atlantis & La Mascara vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Misterioso II
rematch of the Gran Alternativa final. It’ll be interesting to see if this draws; I wouldn’t think so. I like a lot of the guys, but neither matchup seem really compelling; maybe it’d be more so if I actually believed they’d do the mask/mask match.

CMLL (SUN) 07/10 Arena Coliseo Lineup [cmll]
1) Mini Olimpico & Bracito de Oro vs Fire & Sombrita
2) Brazo de Plata Jr., Neutron, Argos vs Hiromi Horiguchi, Guerrero del Futuro, Mogur
3) Metro, Tony Rivera, Texano Jr. vs Arkangel, Veneno, Sangre Azteca
4) Rayo de Jalisco, Ultimo Dragon, Brazo de Plata vs Universo 2000, Emilio Charles, Olimpico
5) Atlantis, Blue Panther, Negro Casas vs Tarzan Boy, Rey Bucanero, Pierroth

IWRG (SUN) 07/10 Arena Naucalpan Lineup [iwrg]

4) Kung Fu Jr., Avisman, Fantasma Jr., Hijo del Fantasma vs Crazy Boy, Signo, Veneno
5) Elektro, Fantasma, Villano III vs Scorpio Jr., Bestia Salvaje, Pantera

Super Lucha’s cover is out. There’s also a Superlucha Illustrated #1 magazine, which sounds great.

Box Y Lucha hasn’t updated since last week.

Anything else? I think I’ve got it covered. Some more housekeeping later.

07/05 news [1]

(Late Add: CMLL & IWRG Sunday results; if AAA shows up, I’ll post it tommorow.)

Back.

I’m going to catch up on the results in this post, and then do lineups/news in the next.

CMLL (TUE) 06/28 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
1) Bam Bam & Fantasy b Pierrothito & Fire
2) Sombra de Plata, Valiente, Zetta b Flecha, Caligula, Mesala
3) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico, Metro b Okumura, Taguchi, Masada
Ovaciones singles out the Tigres for good team work. Again they called Metro “MT” (or maybe “TM”; looking at a stale translation and not sure) – is that a nickname for the subway system or a name change?
4) Brazo de Plata, Lizmark, Felino DQ Emilio Charles Jr., Black Tiger, Hijo de Pierroth
Emilio, facing a 3 on 1, fouled Lizmark
5) Atlantis, Blue Panther, Black Warrior b Tarzan Boy, Universo 2000, Mascara Ano 2000

I haven’t seen IWRG results for the last week.

CMLL (FRI) 07/01 Arena Mexico Results [superlucha]
This card was heavily reworked after it was announced; best guess is it was a response to last week’s main event reaction.
1) Neutron Leono, StarMAN b Super Comando & Artillero
hope Neutron didn’t suffere a setback
2) Lady Apache & Marcela vs Dark Angel & Amapola
o’campo had this as match of the night
3a) seeding battle royal for Gran Alternativa Tournament
3b) Universo 2000 and Dr. X b Lizmark Jr. Bronco & Texano Jr. in a first round match
Bronco was obviously demoted.
3c) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Misterioso II b Pierroth & Nitro in a first round match
3d) Atlantis & La Mascara b Damian 666 & Apocalipsis in a first round match
Lucha Insider has Apocalipsis as Koreano (good a guess as any), as part of a promotional push to own the gimmicks of any newly pushed wrestlers. Need to make a list of guys and their previous idenities
3e) Ultimo Guerrero & Sangre Azteca b Negro Casas & Maximo
First round had some decently long one fall matches; this was the last at around 10 minutes, the previous was the shortest at under 5 minutes
3f) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Misterioso II b Universo 2000 & Dr. X in a semifinal match
3g) Atlantis & La Mascara b Ultimo Guerrero and Sangre Azteca in a semifinal match
This round was shorter; the first match was about 5 minutes, the second about two. They had this winning team go to the back and re-enter, and it was apparently kinda over kill on entrances by this point.
3h) Atlantis & La Mascara b Dr. Wagner Jr. & Misterioso II to win the Gran Alternativa Tournament
The expected winner; he’ll get moved up the card for the victory. Misterioso is a small bit of welcome surprise. Wagner and Atlantis went at it, with Wagner rudo here and teasing being rudo much more than here. Usual mask/mask challenges. Started to feel a little bit late, and O’Campo says some left before the main event
4) Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy, Rey Bucanero b LA Park, Elektro Mistico, Bronco Lizmark Jr.
Notice the changes. Elektro was nowhere to be seen.

CMLL (TUE) 06/28 Arena Queretaro Results [halcon]
1) Aztea Imperial b Estrella Dorado
2) Halcon Blanco, Verdugo Blanco b Zain & Ursus
3) Rayos Tapatios I & II b Neurosis I & Star Tron [Mexico State (DF) TAG]
4) Olimpico, Averno, Mephisto b Volador Jr., Virus, Safari
5) Mistico b Hijo del Perro Aguayo

CMLL (SUN) 07/03 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
0) Cyberman & Baby Star b Angel Perverso & Yidra
added as listed from CMLL Magazine #4
1) Ultimo Dragoncito, Mini Olimpico, Bracito de Oro b Mini Violencia, Sombria, Gitanito
2) Brazo de Plata Jr. & Explosivo b Jeque & Guerrero del Futuro
3) Tony Rivera, Texano Jr., Maximo b Arkangel, Veneno, Mogur
4) Lizmark Sr., Lizmark Jr., Safari b Mephisto, Emilio Charles Jr., Taguchi
They’re listing Lizmark Sr. as just Lizmark, which I guess is fair but still awful confusing.
5) Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Averno DQ Ultimo Dragon, Heavy Metal, Bronco
Ovaciones says Bronco looked better here; “he’ll soon be adjusted to the tecnico style of CMLL”, right. Rey pulled Dragon’s mask, and Dragon wants a rematch or a singles match – there’s a match I could go for.
6) Rayo de Jalisco Jr. b Pierroth
Bonus added during the week match.

IWRG (SUN) 07/03 Arena Naucalpan Results [ova]
The card I had listed greatly differs from the actual one. I think I must’ve had it wrong. You can look back at the original post to see what I had; there’s so many names moved and omitted, it’ll be too confusing if I just cross them out.
1) Mr. Libra b Gato Felix
2) Macho II & Carta Brava b Panterita & Gallo de Jalisco
3) Fantasma de la Opera, Polizon, Xibalva b Kung Fu Jr., Vertigo, Rey de Corazones
4) Fantasma, Avisman, Matrix b Signo, Cerebro Negro, Cyborg
the other rudos turned on Cyborg, who was saved by his police partners.
5) Emilio Charles, Dr. Cerebro, Black Tiger b Mascara Sagrada, Solar I, Villano III
Pentagon has a knee injury and was replaced by Emilio, which explains that one. Emilio low blowed Villano and got the pin, I believe.

Still missing
– IWRG Thursday
– AAA Friday
– who was the US woman on the LLF show?

07/23 Congress lineup

The Rey Bucanero/Tarzan Boy 07/23 Congress card has been changed to Mascara Sagrada, Super Astro, Kato Kung Lee and Mano Negra, according to a post here.

I’m pretty sure I’m skipping this one. Don’t let me stop YOU from going, but these headliners are not worth a trip in the city and a 1 AM train ride home to me.

Edit: More info from that same thread.
