07/22 news

Ovaciones has an update on Tigre Metalico. He’s cut from the base of his nose to the bridge of his skull, 15 inches centimeters long. The nose was the most busted up part. He’s going to be inactive totally for three weeks, and they’ll check more then.

Super Comando, who was involved in the same match, has a neck injury. He’s going to be wearing a brace and be out of action for two weeks. Nitro replaces him on tonight’s Arena Mexico card. The majority of the preview has Atlantis talking about Wagner again, this time pointing out Wagner’s “this is MY house” claim doesn’t fit, since he’s truly a guy from another company who abadoned them to come here. Atlantis has never left, Atlantis points out.

Monday, Satanico and Pierroth face of in a hair/hair match in Puebla. Pierroth, in this week’s elhalconnet, said he’s never losing another hair match, and I don’t believe Satanico can make him a liar this time.

Ultimo Guerrero didn’t show up on any NJPW cards. Not sure if the original report was incorrect, or if plans changed when Mistico didn’t show.

Edit: But he will be working Dragon Gate shows, working in six man tags opposite The Tiger II (Ultimo Dragon).

CMLL (SAT) 07/30 Kids Show Arena Coliseo Lineup [ova]
1) Tsuki & Shockercito vs Pierrohito & Mini Violencia

3) Atlantis, Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark Jr. vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Averno

lucha times

Normal times.

Saturday: Nothing really pops out as great, but there’s a lot of good possible good matches on the card.

Sunday: The One With TAKA.

Didn’t think to check the Galavision upfronts notes from May until I just saw an ad for “new shows in ’05-’06!” on the Galavision home page.

They’re adding Extreme Sports show at 1pm on Saturdays, so that’ll be the lead in for the new-airings show. They’ll still be covering Mexican Football, including a Sunday at 3PM slot, so that’ll mess with Lucha De Vuelta. They’ve got part of the World Cup next summer, and everything will be jumbled around then, but I expected as much.

Otherwise, it appears the shows are going to be in the same place as normal. They don’t mention them in their online presenation at all, but they don’t mention anything else as taking their slots, so we should be safe for another broadcast year.

07/21 news

Tigre Metalico will be out at least a month after suffering a significant head wound in Pachucha, according to Ovaciones. In the third fall of a tercera tag match with Dr. Kalini and versus Super Comando and Colimillo Blanco, Metalico was tossed out of the ring, and his head hit the concrete. It sounds like he was bleeding quite heavily (to the point where they had to take his mask off because it was full of blood), and he was taken to the hospital, where he spent the night. They want him to spend a month recovering before he gets back in the ring.

IWRG (THU) 07/21 Lineup [IWRG]
1) Conder Negro vs Forastero II
2) Rey De Corazones & Ultramega vs Rey Estruendo & Macho II
3) Gallo Tapatio Jr., Marco River, Star Boy vs Dr. Cerebro, Cerebro Negro, Fantasma de la Opera
4) Veneno vs Cyborg [IWRG IC MW]
5) Electro, Negro Casas, Axxel vs Black Tiger, Scorpio Jr., Bestia Salvaje
Is it just me, or is it weird Negro would team up with El Hijo del Santo’s disgruntled nephew?

IWRG (SUN) 07/24 Lineup [IWRG]
1) Cat Man vs Kako Dan
2) Panterita & Frizer vs Super Colt & Fantasma de la Opera
3) Marco Rivera, Rey de Corazones, Ultra Mega vs Gigolo American, the Hornet, Andy Barrow
4) Matrix, Avisman, Fantasma Jr. vs Cerebro Negro, Cyborg, Black Terry
Odd rudo team there; Cyborg’s fighting one member of the Corp for a belt on Thursday and teaming with one on Sunday
5) Heavy Metal, Felino, Suicida vs Scorpio Jr., Dr. Cerebro, Veneno

AAA (FRI) 07/29 Ciudad Madero Convention Center Lineup/TV Taping [ova]
1) Albrije (w/Cuije), Pimpinela, Cinthia Moreno vs Monsther (w/Chucky), Sexy Francis, Diabolica
2) Psicosis II vs Histeria [MEX MW]
3) Picudo vs Zumbido vs Oriental vs Antifaz vs Cuervo vs Incognito, where the loser advances to the next match
Guess we were took quick to write Zumbido out.
4) Match 3 Loser vs Octagoncito vs Mascartia Sagrada vs Parkita vs Mini Psicosis vs Jerrito Estrada vs Rocky Marvin [CAGE OF DEATH]
The normal sized loser from Match 3 fights the minis, and last one out loses his hair or his mask. Weird, and I bet it’ll be weirder when we hear about the finishes.
5) La Parka II, Octagon, Shocker, Luzbel vs Ciberntico, Abismo Negro, Tinieblas Jr., Chessman

Ovaciones does go into slightly more detail about why this 07/29 show is no longer the Verando de Escandalo event, though it’s storyline driven: the current feuds haven’t been heated enough to get anyone to hair or mask on the line, so there’s no point in having such as how yet. There’s also a tease about Pena having been in Japan and made some deals with promotions to have them appear on future AAA shows; in KrisZ update yesterday, he specifically mentions Dragon Gate, and that’d be consistent with the otherwise random CIMA appearance at TripleMania.

Ovaciones floats a new VdE date as sometime in September.

Issue #28 of elhalconnet is up. There are interviews with Pierroth and another one with Ultimo, Tarzan Boy answers the questionnaire, plus the usual show reports.

07/20 news

Ovaciones came back up this afternoon.

07/19 news

Ovaciones is down once again. It was up this morning, and I guess I should’ve done the update then instead of waitig a few hours.

IIRC, there were three articles

– Interview with Super Comando. Dr. Wagner Jr. was his inspiration to start wrestling. He’s looking for an oppurtinty to move up the card.

– Report from the CMLL show in Hidalgo, I think. Though there are Puebla results up on WO.com, but that’s too quick of a turn around for non-DF shows.

– Normal CMLL Tuesday/Friday preview

As noted in previous posts, Mistico was replaced by Ultimo Dragon, under his “the Tiger” gimmick, for dragon door’s debut show. Ultimo won, via mask rip and cradle. Post match, Dragon/Tiger challenged Guerrero to a mask/mask match. They were teasing that match a while back in CMLL, and it wouldn’t be a half bad idea, but I’m also not holding my breath.

The original plan was for Ultimo and Mistico to also work a NJ show or shows. Not sure if that’s still the case; Ultimo’s not listed on any upcoming NJ card, but they’ve only listed partial lineups.
