It’s a slow day, so let’s gaze at the dramatic Blue Demon #1 cover. (from SuperPlex‘s forum. Publisher’s website is ka-boom.com)
Lucha Insider has moved to http://luchainside.blogdrive.com/ (thanks to Raquel).
Not much news today; usual Arena Mexico preview and no IWRG results as of yet.
The hype for the Arena Mexico show includes CMLL admitting they’ve never actually seen Bronco II wrestle and have only been told his resume; almost seems like it’s an angle, though not a typical CMLL one.
AAA announced four “stellar” shows (not sure if that means TV tapings) for July.
– 07/01 (FRI) in Queretaro
– 07/03 (SUN) in Salamanca, Guanajuato
– 07/15 (FRI) in Acapulco
– 07/29 (FRI) in Ciudad Madero, Tamapulipas for Verano de Escandalo
It looks like 07/03 wouldn’t be a taping, to me.
Santo teams with Canek to face Ultimo Guerrero and Dr. Wagner in San Pedro Cholula on 07/26.
if you’re relying on this site to get all your lucha news: Juvi, Nicho (without the mask) and Super Crazy debuted on SD! last night as Mexicool. I haven’t had a chance to see it yet. Ovaciones has the “Lucha Libre Luxury” name, which means they read Meltzer’s fake spoilers.
Anyone else going to the Congress show? I’m gonna be in the city all afternoon, watching the Cubs/Sox game with friends (and hopefully not covering my eyes too much), and then head over to the show. If I think about it, I may steal borrow a camera and do a recap of some sort. I’ll try to sneak in an early update tommorow, but the ‘what aired’ bit won’t be up till Sunday.
3:00 Edit
I forget to check out Halcon.net’s latest magazine, and don’t want to add another post.
– Interview with Sangre Azteca. He confirms he’s not the son of Americo Rocca, which La Arena has correct. (La Arena is going to update again, right?)
– Bio sheet on Dos Caras Jr. He’s gotta be in an exclusive club, because I don’t think many people are getting $1,000 for their first match. (Or any match, actually.) Dos Jr. figures his best lucha match was the singles one with Ultimo. His favorite rudo is Dr. Wagner Jr and his favorite non-Mexican is Chris Benoit, so he’s clearly on pace to become a net darling. He says his finisher is the German Suplex, which will hopefully be added to the hopefully soon to be coming La Arena update.
– Interview with LLF’s Tsunami, and with 35 year veteran of the Yucatan, Espartano I
– A very brief interview with Angel Azteca, CMLL’s newest referee. They somehow failed to get Arkangel’s thoughts.
– Pictures of the NGX show. Looks very ‘hardcore’.
– A preview of AAA’s return to the Yucatan this Sunday, and a recap of the PAR show in Monterrey last Sunday.
I know it’s the style and the expectation, but I wish they magazines would spend more time talking to guys and tailoring their questions to the particular person they’re talking than just using the same questionnaire format (and some questions) each interview. Sometimes the normal questions work (like Tarzan Boy two weeks ago), but I didn’t get as much out of them for Sangre Azteca.
