05/04 news

The story going about Bucanero is he hasn’t signed with anyone yet (if I’m reading this right.) Neither side is going to use him till he signs with them. Add these names to the list of people rumored to be thinking about leaving (and maybe just looking for better money): Volador Jr., Zumbido, Averno, and Mephisto. I may need to start a list of awesome people who aren’t rumored to jump.

CMLL (TUE) Arena Coliseo 05/03 Results
1) Fire & Sombria b Bracito de Oro & Fantasy
2) StarMAN, Ultimo Vamprio, Brazo de Plata Jr. b Koreano, Jeque, Reyes Veloz
3) Maximo, Alan Stone, Chris Stone b Veneno, Sangre Azteca, Arkangel
Said to be a good match
4) Zumbido, Sagrado, Safari b Emilio Charles, Hijo de Pierroth, Bestia Salvaje Sangre Azteca
(via google.translation)

[Besita] could not arrive at its commitment in the semifinal fight, reason why it was replaced by [Sangre], that little by little is demonstrating its quality and deserves a great opportunity.

5) Mascara Sagrada, Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark b Mascara 2000, Universo 2000, Black Tiger
First two falls were “dry”, but they picked it up with mask ripping in the third. Caras pinned Universo clean in the final fall, and called for a title match.

There were over 2000 people at Saturday’s Coliseo Kid’s Day show – and that’s just the people who were stuck outside wtihout a ticket.

Averno and Mephisto did retain the tag team titles in Puebla.

los dos Tigres (Metalico and Blanco) are getting over with fans and working well together, they hope to challenge for tag team titles soon. No, not Averno and Mephisto’s – Chris and Alan Stone’s. That’d be the Arena Coliseo Tag Team Championship, I believe. Have they defended those in the last three years?

IWRG

There was a lot more news about IWRG yesterday – but I sadly didn’t get around to it. They did announce the IC Trios Tournament will take place two matches at a time each week, until they get to the final.

Heavy Metal will celebrate my birthday by getting a rematch for the IWRG Heavyweight Championship, versus champion Scorpio Jr. No word if they’re actually going to do something to prevent Veneno in.

Tijuana

Negro and Felino take the feud there, facing Halloween and Damian this Friday.

05/02 news

the big news: Multiple reports have CMLL doing something they’ve never done before – actually sign their (main event) guys to contracts.

The boat may have left on some of the guys; Rey Bucanero is not booked on any Mexico City CMLL cards. Oddly enough, he is booked on an indy show on 05/08 in Club Atletico San Isidro. It’ll be Mistico, Heavy Metal and Negro Casas versus Rey, Tarzan and Ultimo, together for the last time. He’s also booked for a Puebla CMLL card on 05/09, although Box Y Lucha seems to have combined two trios matches into one giant 11 man tag.

(digression: You know what’s awesome? Look at the last Jueves entry – it’s the Chicago Lucha Va Voom show! Thrilling.)

Black Warrior, Ultimo Guerrero, and Black Tiger, also mentioned on the Lucha Insider post, are booked on main CMLL cards this week. Except for the hastily added Shocker/Ultimo match, everyone’s served out their scheduled bookings so far. Either Rey’s going to miss (or be scheduled off) the Puebla show, or he picked quite the exceptional week for a vaction. Maybe he has Cinco De Mayo plans!

Of course, Shocker’s already gone. Box Y Lucha posted some pictures of the press confrence. Look who made himself center of the group picture! There’s an new Triple Mania card out as well, which I’ll get to at some point.

Let me back up a sec and get to the results

CMLL (FRI) Arena Mexico 04/29 Results
1) Bam Bam/Shockercito/Bracito de Oro b Mini Violencia/Sombrita/Fire
2) La Mascara/Stuka Jr./Chamaco Valaguez b Dr. X/Arkangel/Koreano
3) Ultimo Guerrero/Rey Bucanero/Tarzan Boy b Dos Caras Jr./Ultimo Dragon/Atlantis
As you read earlier if you clicked on the links, only guys who’d sign contracts were put over, which means Rey is -? You can be on the winning team and not win anything, I guess.
4) Mistico/Negro Casas/Universo 2000 vs Hijo del Perro Aguayo/Hector Garza/Damian 666
Best match of the night. Perro fouled Universo to win the second fall, Universo fouled Perro to win the third. Funny translated line: [Mistico is ] fine and brave, although he is a skinny man.
5) Heavy Metal b Halloween
2-1. Ovaciones kills this match as weak, slow and boring, without skill or emotion, saying Metal should just go back to AAAA. There’s no report on Super Luchas for this show and I really wish I could get a second version, just to compare takes.

Negro made a hair match challenge towards Perro or Damian, Univeros interupted him to throw his own challenge to Perro, and Perro said there was nothing of Universo’s he wanted, becuase he has nothing to lose. I have strong doubts they actually know where they’re going with this.

CMLL (TUE) Arena Coliseo 05/03 Lineup
1) Bracito de Oro & Fantasy vs Fire & Sombria
2) StarMAN, Ultimo Vamprio, Brazo de Plata Jr. vs Koreano, Jeque, Reyes Veloz
3) Maximo, Alan Stone, Chris Stone vs Veneno, Sangre Azteca, Arkangel
4) Zumbido, Sagrado, Safari vs Emilio Charles, Hijo de Pierroth, Bestia Salvaje
5) Mascara Sagrada, Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark vs Mascara 2000, Universo 2000, Black Tiger

CMLL (FRI) Arena Mexico 05/06 Lineup
1) Rayos Tapatios vs Super Comadno, Polvora
2) La Mascara, Ricky Marvin, Virus vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Loco Max
3) Atlantis, Satanico, Black Warrior vs Black Tiger, Taguchi, Okumura
4) Dr. Wagner, Dos Caras Jr., Ultimo Dragon vs Ultimo Guerrero, Averno, Mephisto
5) L.A. Park, Mistico, Heavy Metal vs Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy

CMLL (SUN) Arena Coliseo 05/08 Lineup
1) Sombra de Plata & Zetta vs Zayko & Flecha
2) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico, Texano Jr. vs Ramstein, Mogur, Guerrero del Futuro
3) Zumbido, Misterioso, Brazo de Oro vs Sangre Azteca, Mr. Mexico, Nitro
4) Emilio Charles, Universo 2000, Mascara 2000 vs Canek Jr., Hijo De Pierroth, Pierroth Jr.
5) Rayo de Jalisco, Negro Casas, Black Warrior vs Caenk, Pierroth, Tarzan Boy

AAA (SUN) Plaza Detoros Nuevo Porgreso De Guadalajara, TripleMania XIII, 05/15 Lineup
1) Angel, Mascartia Sagrada, Pimpinela Escarlata, Lady Apahce vs Texano, Mini Abismo Negro, Polvo de Estrella, Tiffany
2) Tinieblas Sr. (w/Alushe), Alebrije (w/Cuije), Hijo de Anibal vs Tinieblas Jr., Pirata Morgan, Monsther (w/Chucky)
3) Electro Shock, Intocable, CIMA vs Charly Manson, Mr. Aguila, Hator
4) Zorro, Juventued Guerrera, Luzbek vs Apocalypse, Al Katrass, Predator
I have no idea who Luzbek is – Robert says it’s the new Gronda. I believe Juvi’s is supposed to be a rudo, so I don’tknow what he’s doing here. And they’re going up against the new evil American (UPW) rudos. Huh.
5) Psicosis vs Nicho [cage, for Psicosis identity]
Nicho’s last match in.
6) Latin Lover, La Parka, ??? vs Cibernetico, Chessman, ???
The expectation is Rey Bucanero is one of these people, and they may still be working at getting a second person.
7) Vampiro vs Konnan

Notice Shocker’s missing? He’s on the TNA PPV instead – or will be at least until people change their minds again.

SuperLucha’s cover. There was talk the magazine may be in trouble, but they apparently were able to put on this issue. (When Nicho gets a load of his picture, he may wish they did – dude looks like he really needs his mask back.)

Box Y Lucha’s cover has a picture of Super Porky, and you can’t really beat that, even it’s another sad story of gimmick infringement. The poster shows Monito’s moved on to a person with even worse taste in pants. (Also, Taguchi!)

There’s an article inside of Box Y Lucha where Ultimo Guerrero defines the Pandilla Guerrero (Guerrero Gang) as including at least
– Sangre Azteca
– Loco Max
– Koreano
– Ramstein
– Dr. X
– Nitro
– Hooligan (still not his brother)
– Arkangel

Ultimo says they’re open to adding more members, proving the people give 100% in the gym and give complete effort in the gym; if you’re in the group and don’t do those things, you’ll be kicked out. Ultimo explains he was jealous of the tecnico wrestlers having fan clubs, so he thought if he got the awesome rudos together, they could have a fan club too! They’ve got 25 fan club members, but you can call 55 88 02 66, you can get more info. I guess there should be a Mexico City area code there, but if you call, get me signed up too.

There’s also an interview with Mr. Niebla, who says he’s been gone due to personal problems and knee injuries. He’s expecting to be back in June.

Tonight’s the CMLL Tag Team titles match in Puebla, Averno and Mephisto defending against Atlantis and Blue Panther. Recent history has Puebla rematches being a repeat Mexico City originals finish-wise, so expect no title change.

May’s Chicago Lucha

A couple notable changes:

LVV is still Thursday. I am still going, though I may be hitchhiking home.

The Sunday Congress show may be off, according to a post on chicagowrestling‘s message board.

I can’t confirm that, but I can note Rob was sent the OELL Lineup for the following weekend, and it looks kinda similiar, main event wise.

OELL 05/14 (SAT) Fox Valley Park District, Aurora – 7:00 doors, 7:30 bell
OELL 05/15 (SUN) Congress Theatre, Chicago – 4:30 doors, 5:30 bell

1&2 (I think)) Latin Thunder, Infernale II, Buhha, Rudo Cortez, Payazo Krazie, Momia Azteca all appear
3) Alto & Discovery vs Great Milenko & Christopher Michaels
4) Mascarita Sagrada & Spiderboy vs Guerrerito del Futuro & Tyme Page
5) Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 vs Pierroth & El Hijo de Pieroth

It’d be a huge surprise for them to do the same basic match two Sunday’s in a row in the same building; the 05/08 show would actually be the bigger one, with Unvierso and Perro involved, so it’d be even odder to do it in this order. You never know. I’ll let you know if they mention it on Thursday.

Complicating things is Ring Of Honor running Chicago Ridge on Saturday; the two groups ran against each other last year (was that the Ultimo/Rey vs Felino/Virus and Joe/Punk thing? Can’t remember, but you didn’t lose either way.) Their lineup

ROH 05/14 (SAT) Frontier Fieldhouse, Chicago Ridge – 7:30 bell
1 – 4) TBA
5) Nigel McGuiness vs Colt Cabana
6) loser of 05/13 Dragon/Homicide vs Doug Williams
7) winner of 05/13 Dragon/Homicide vs current ROH Champ [ROH]
8) C. M. Punk vs Jimmy Rave [CAGE]

I don’t think there’s a huge cross over audience between the shows, but I also think anyone reading this in the chicago area might fit in the cross over. All five of you.

pending

The typical long Monday morning update is postponed for a few more hours. Been busy actually working and doing some other projects – learned just enough php and SQL to be annoying to my webhost – and haven’t had time to write paragraphs yet.

I’m also going on like two hours of sleep, and I’m usually incredibly wordy when I’ve been without good sleep for this long, so you’ve got that to look forward to. The downside is my laptop is normally really close to my bed, and I’ve been known to drift while typing in bed even when I’m not especially tired. I think I’m going to try avoid that at all costs – no good can come from falling asleep while thinking of Alebrije. Scary dreams, dude.
