Trying the weekend updating thing.
CMLL (FRI) 05/20 Arena Mexico Results [Super Lucha]
1) Shockercito & Mini Olimpico b Pierrothito & Fire
2) Metro, Zumbido, Alan Stone b Dr. X, Nitro, Sangre Azteca
3) Universo 2000, Mascara Magica, Apolo Dantes b Halloween, Damian, Terrible
Ovaciones says there was a Magica/Damian hair/hair challenge made after this match, but SuperLucha doens’t note one.
4) Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Mistico b Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy
Rudos get themselves DQed in the first fall, destroy Mistico’s mask. He has to go to back and get a new one, but he brings a comeback with him, and they pick up the win in two falls. Mistico and Perro apparently (should I write “supposedly”?) agreed to a hair/mask match. No date was set. This was match of the night
5) Dos Caras Jr. b Ultimo Guerrero
Under nine minutes according to this report (Ova says under 15, which I guess would be equally true), with the first two falls under two minutes each. Rematch next week for Ultimo’s belt. Whoever suggested Dos Caras as top tecnico replacement for Shocker might be right.
In addition, Groonda XXX appeared, with the offical annoucement of his debut to happen on 6/3.
Besides next Friday’s title defense, Ultimo also has a one on one match with Heavy Metal on Monday in Puebla. Which is odd, since the reports sounded like they set up Ultimo/Negro instead.
AAA hasn’t announced Electroshock’s deperature, but he’s already listed for next Thursday’s IWRG show. He’s scheduled to work a show with AAA guys (though not an AAA promoted show – it’s a “Apostol” show) on Friday.
SuperLuchas managed to cram a dozen stories on the cover this week.
Yesterday, KrisZ noted Mistico will be on DragonDoor’s debut show, on 07/19.
I finished the AAA shows I had stored in my TiVo (or were supposed to, anyway) with the 04/23 show. Thought the Black Family/Barrio Boys was as good as to be expected, but everything else was a bit below their standards.
