Here’s the DVDVR thread. If you want the Mexican internet message board perspective, there’s a thread on Box Y Lucha.
Shocker’s profile is still up on CMLL.com (not that means anything), and there’s no news on the move there, AAA’s site, or Ovaciones.
I think this was very important for AAA – up until Vampiro’s jump, talent has only been draining out of there to CMLL, but now they’ve taken a top rudo and a guy who’s been #1 tecnico in the company for long stretches of time. That’ll even things up, and at least give the impression of the two companies being on the same level.
As much as CMLL is centered on old rivals continuing to draw, you do need to mix up matchups and rosters to keep things fresh.
I figure this probably means Shocker’s getting at least some creative control of his own programs. That seems to have part of the deal for Vampiro and Konnan. I also figure these jumps must mean AAA’s not as close to shutting down as we sometimes presume; these three guys seem savvy enough to check to see if they’re actually going to get paid before making the move.
I think the benefit/loss to CMLL depends on what they do with his spot; if they take the oppurtinty of needing one more top tecnico to raise someone up to that level, it’ll probably hurt a little bit in the short term but be a long term boon, and if they just plug in another veteran, it’ll probably hurt less now and more later.
I have no idea who they’d push up to that level who hasn’t been there before, though. With the big Mistico push, there’s no one strongly standing out for that spot.
Easiest guess is Heavy Metal, guy without a spot but who had a spot like this in AAA, takes Shocker’s virtual spot.
I am sad I won’t be getting any Shocker/Guerreros matches for a while.
(but what does MASCARA MAGICA think of all of this)
As mentioned before, Ovaciones doesn’t have this story. They’ve got a few other bits:
– Shocker is still on the cards for tonight’s Arena Mexico semifinal.
– Also, an Ultimo Guerrero vs Shocker NWA Light Heavyweight match was added to the Sunday Coliseo show. No idea if this is something added before or after the jump, or if Shocker will still work it. Vampiro did work out his scheduled shows before leaving.
– Canek Jr. returns to Arena Mexico next week.
– Oriental is headed to NOAH (though they leave the H off) for a tour starting 05/11.
Most of the rest is expected build for tonight’s Arena Mexico show, and tonight’s AAA taping in Veracruz.

“That’ll even things up, and at least give the impression of the two companies being on the same level.”
That hurts me. If you just take into account the AAA TV Taping + Supershows and compare them to the Arena Mexico/Arena Coliseo shows – AAA > CMLL by a *HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE* number. If you were to take into account all the shows CMLL sells their name too(Arena Puebla, Arena Coliseo De Acapulco, Arena Coliseo De Guadalajara, etc.) then it gets a little more even but AAA still wins.
If the jump really happened(you read that right), I guess Shocker drops the belt to Ultimo Guerrero this Sunday.
In 3 months or less we’ll be back to square one anyhow.

Do you think Dos Caras Jr. might get a stronger push to help elevate someone on the tecnico side?
Also, and much more important to me personally, is what’s gonna happen to Ke Monito? Does CMLL own that or will Shocker take him along? If Shocker leaves, I can live with it. If he AND Monito leave I will have serious depression.
Regardless of how much they were drawing, I think AAA was in a bit of an ECW zone – you’re bound to look like a lesser group if some of your top guys are leaving to go elsewhere, and none of their top guys are coming back your way. I can’t imagine Mexican fans not seeing Canek/Garza/Perro/Metal leave, a bunch of green guys come in to take their place, and not get the impression there’s something a bit lesser about AAA. (Actually, that sounds more like the dying days of WCW.)
Talent drains give a bad impression about the comapny’s status, but they’ve cured that by getting as well as they’re giving.
Dos Caras Jr. has disappeared from the main cards as of late, so I dunno if he’s a go to guy.
Ke Monito’s a good questio – he came in as CMLL Mascot, so I’d think he’s a CMLL contracted guy, but then there’s really no such things as contracts if a guy on the level of Shocker can just walk over to AAA, so I guess it depends on what Pena’s willing to pay (and if there’s problems with him and Tinieblas still.)
I guess you’re right. Out of that list though, I’d rather see Nautilus and Aliens over Canek and Metal. I’m sick, I know…
