As mentioned elsewhere and by Eddie on the last post:
Gala skipped two weeks of tapings, and aired the 12/10 complete two hour show instead. Aired lineup
Dos Caras Jr./Dr. Wagner/Mr. Niebla vs Emilio/Tarzan/Canek [coliseo]
Rocky Romero vs Virus (c) [CMLL LH]
Universo/Cien/MascaraY2K vs Pierroth/Vampiro/Aguayo
Santo/Mistico/Dragon vs Ultimo/Rey/Olimpico
Good show, though I haven’t had a chance to watch much.
In other upcoming show news, the 12/24 and 01/01 tapings were confirmed as Best Of show – but Best Of Stuff That Never Made Air.
12/25/04
– Park/Shocker vs Rey/Ultimo [CMLL Tag]
– Santo vs Perro (08/13)
– Super Crazy vs Zumbido [hair/hair]
01/01/05
– Canek vs Universo vs Rayo vs Wagner [mask/mask/mask/mask] (09/17)
– Mistico/Felino/Volador Jr. vs Averno/Mephisto/Olimpico
– Torneo Gran Altenativa (08/20)
I’ll try to clear up the listings later. Who knows what’ll actually air next week. The good part about the skip is there are worst weeks they could’ve skipped.
I should put together some Sin Limite de Tiempo listings at some point too. But maybe only if I can mockingly call it CMLL Velocity.
Ovaciones webpage is now http://www.ovaciones.com; the .mx address doesn’t send you there for whatever reason.
Saturday’s GALA schedule is back to normal times. Nothing extraordinary on the CMLL lineup, just three trios matches over current issues.
Note we haven’t had an any AAA action in four weeks, so don’t be surprised if there’s a change of plans. Not sure enough to promise, but I’m kinda thinking there probably will be at least an hour of it.
Lucha De Vuelta gets the spilt treatment this week, due to the finals and third place game of last week UCAF tournament. CMLL’s got the Leyenda de Azul Cibernetico (which was okay) and stellar trios match in names but saddled with a WWE CW match length. AAA has a taping of date unknown (and I really would like to know), with Pena throwing a bunch of his newer gimmicks in a trios match, and Abismo facing Cibernetico in the main.
TLN looks to be getting mostly Arena Coliseo action this week.
FMLL’s announced a partial card for the 03/06 Congress Show.
(It’s pretty clear in saying that’s the next show at the theatere, though they still list a show this weekend on the website. Baaad website.)
Main: Mil Mascaras/Super Parka vs Rey Misterio (Sr.)/Satanico
Semi: Lizmark/Principe Franky/TBA vs Poision/Principe Azteca/Rudy Escobedo
Tercero: Sombre Vengador vs Shamu
The website says “and one more match”, but if you spell tercero correctly* and translate it, it means “third”. It’s not a big deal, as long as everyone in the unnamed matches has pants that do not fall down during the match, for instance.
Bigger news is we’ve got a whale in lucha libre! Can you submit a whale? You can’t beat them in I Quit matches.
* see thing about typos being funny (when they’re not me)
I’m really annoyed for not saving the Ovaciones story where CMLL was talking about not only bringing in Familia de Tijuana for a full Feb-Dec run, but going after Rey Mysterio Jr. Can’t blame them for setting their sights high (though perhaps they shouldn’t be high when setting their sights.)
And now Ovaciones is down. Booooo. That’s half my fun.
Let’s do the results dump instead.
Arena Mexico (FRI) 02/18 Results [KrisZ]
1) Neutron, Sombra de Plata b Super Comando, Artillero
2) Taguchi/Okumura/Masada b Alan/Sagrado/Misterioso II
3) Cien Caras/MascaraY2K/Universo2K b Pierroth/Vampiro/Tiger
4) Mistico/Negro/Warrior DQ Ultimo/Rey/Averno
Story seems to be Ultimo and company beating the crap out of Mistico to the point of the first fall being overturned for excessive violence, and ending the match with a Ultimo low blow on Mistico. Mistico wants revenge this Friday.
5) Shocker/Wagner/Dos Caras b Garza/Tarzan/Terrible
No tension between Wagner and Shocker after the Copa Jr. final.
02/20 (SUN) Arena Coliseo Results [KrisZ]
1) Pequeno Olimpico & Bracito de Oro b Sombrita & Gitanito
2) Guerrero del Futuro & Reyes Veloz b Tigre Metalico & Brazo de Plata Jr.
3) Mr. Mexico, Sangre Azteca, Hooligan b Ringo Mendoza, Tony Rivera, Texano Jr.
4) Satanico, Black Warrior, Mascara Magica b Bestia Salvaje, Taguchi [NJPW] , Okumura
5) Dr. Wagner, Brazo de Plata, Negro Casas b Vampiro, Ultimo Guerrero, Emilio Charles
6) Rayo de Jalisco Jr. b Canek [WWA Heavyweight Championship]
On 02/21, Mistico delivered his weakly singles beatdown to Averno for the NWA Middlweight Title in Arena Puebla. I need a money mark to take that match to Aurora, please.
02/22 (TUE) Arena Coliseo Lineup
(haven’t seen results yet)
1) Mini Olimpico/Ultimo Dragonicto vs Fire/Sombrita
2) Brazo de Plata Jr./StarMAN/Ultimo Vampiro vs Caligula/Jeque/Messala
3) Hijo del Texano/Tony Rivera/Virus vs Hooligan/Loco Max/Nitro
4) Felino/Safari/Sagrado vs Emilio/Okumura/Taguchi
5) Porky/Wagner/Niebla vs Cien/MY2K/Universo
02/25 (FRI) Arena Mexico Lineup
1) Tigre Blanco/Tigre Metalico vs Koreano/Ramstein
2) Bam-Bam/Mascarita Sagrada/Tzuki vs Pierrothito/Espectrito/Mini Violencia
3) Zumbido vs Sangre Azteca [lightning]
4) Warrior/Negro/Satanico vs Rey/Averno/Mephisto
5) Shocker/Atlantis/Panther vs Perro/Garza/Tarzan
hmm, tag champs making a rare appearance together this far up the card, and we’ve got no undercard for the March show yet.
6) Mistico vs Ultimo Guerrero
this might be okay.
02/27 (FRI) Arena Mexico Lineup
1) Rayo Tapatios I y II vs Felcha y Polvora
2) Tony Rivera, Texano Jr., Chris Stone vs Dr. X, Mogur, Guerrero del Futuro
3) Safari, Brazo de Oro, Virus vs Bestia Salvaje, Arkangel, Mr. Mexico
4) Atlantis, “Blue Anther”, Zumbido vs Emilio Charles, Taguchi, Okumura
Typos are funny! (when they’re not mine.)
5) Shocker, Rayo de Jalisco, Negro Casas vs Hector Garza, Ultimo Guerrero, Tarzan Boy
Perro Aguayo Sr. held a press confrence to hype up the double hair/hair match. He’s got a doctor’s note clearing him, but this is his one and only return match (and Cien Caras’ last match too, maybe.) Getting revenge for Unvierso on his brothers sounds good enough for him. Capos ran in on the press confrence, but were shouted down by the Aguayo’s back up – Pierroth, La Nazi (who CMLL is alternately calling Lt. Arms de Buenos Aires, haha), and Vampiro. Weird alliances.
AAA 02/20 Arena Solidarida for TV [KrisZ]
1) Espiritu/Nygma/Picudo/Silver Cat b Los Kumbia Kings
2) Pimpinela lost to Rosa Blanca, Sexy Francis, Sexy Libra, May Flowers, Polvo de Estrellas [cage/last loses hair]
3) Tiffany b Lady Apahce, La Choa, Dark Angel, Fabi Apache, Cinthia Moreno, Poly Star, Princesa Blanca, Pricesa Sugeith, Simply Luscious, Martha Villalobos [Reina de Reinas]
4) Diluvio Negro I/Intocable/Zorro b Aguila/Manson/Mngol Chino
5) Gronda/Lover/Parka b Abismo/Chessman/Tinieblas
I thought they were only doing qualifying for by RdR tournaments on this show, but I guess they actually did the women’s one here, and will do the Men’s all on one show later.
I lack the proper place to discuss this, but
Toryumon Mexico, 02/27 [KrisZ]
3) Gail Kim vs Nidia
4) Atlantis/Blue Panther/The Tiger (Ultimo Dragon) vs Hector Garza/Tarzan Boy/Ultimo Guerrero
That third match, I may never get over it. Gail Kim being in Toryumon may cause the universe to implode. And if it doesn’t, she’ll be pretty weirded out when she sees herself on her Toryumon tapes, I figure.
OELL 02/20 (SUN) Fox Valley Park District
Attendance was 150, give or take 25. Good loud crowd.
1) Egotistico Fantastico (running behind the back piledriver) Tyler Black
2) “UFC Guy” (cross armbreaker) “Bubba Ray Dudley”
UFC Guy had polariods at the gimmick table and I still can’t recall his name. This may be why I don’t do these.
3) Angel Del Silencio (power bomb) Tigerillo
aburpt ending – seemed like injury, but Tigerillo was walking around later
4) Tzuki, Spider Boy, Principe Maya (‘rana) Mini Misterioso, PIerrothito, Payaso Malo
I think it was Maya. It was not Discovery. Odd to go to a lucha card without SWAT Kat or Discovery.
5) Shocker/Cassandro (Majistral/’rana) Misterioso II/el Hijo del Pierroth
Though the lineup listed Pierroth Jr., this was actually the stockier guy working as his son in CMLL.
5b) Misterioso II (sunset flip, :10) El Hijo del Pierroth in a “mask vs mask” match
Usual bit. Unsanactioned and nonbinding, surely; same match as the Super Parka/Felino (? – forgettful) match at Congress Theatre in November, if you were there
