What’s the La Copa Junior tournament?

The La Copa Junior tournament is a CMLL event featuring second (at least) generation wrestlers, though worked relations have been accepted. It’s typically held near the beginning of Arena Mexico season.

(thanks to Robert and La Arena for a lot of info.)

The Copa Junior tournament has been held (at least) twice in CMLL’s history.

Someone got a date on those? LuchaWorld’s board being reset has really screwed my card lookup ablity.

Quick notes

I thought I had uploaded lucha times this morning, but I don’t see it up. So strange. It’ll be there later today.

Key Points
– Normal Times
– I have no tape listings to base off upcoming show, so my guesses are back to pure guesses again.

No much of important in Ovaciones today. There’s an interview with Shocker, who picks the three biggest pushed guys (Rayo, Dos Caras, Wagner) as winner of La Copa Jr., which allows me to fantasy book Mascara Magica turning on him. Shocker’s working in Tijuana tonight, so he won’t be there to do an angle with the winner. His plans for 2005 include more Guapo stuff, fighting Terrible, and trying to unify NWA and CMLL LH titles. He’s got the NWA, and Ultimo still has the CMLL one.

They’ve been running stuff all week about AAA’s show in Japan, and I thought I should get around to posting the lineup, but then I realized it already happened. So slow.

Tuesday results, another Copa Jr. sub, notes

CMLL 01/25 (TUE) Arena Coliseo Results
1) Tsuky, Shockercito, Bracito de Oro b Pequeno Violencia, Sombrita, Gitanito
2) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico, Brazo de Plata Jr. b Arkangel, Loco Max, Ramstein
3) Brazo de Oro, Alan Stone, Chris Stone b Okumura, Nitro, Masada
4) Shocker, Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata b Black Tiger, Terrible, Mascara 2000
5) Universo 2000 b Pierroth

DQ in the first, pinfall in the second. The Capos appear now to have their own woman to counteract La Nazi.

Liberally stealing from Ovaciones…

Emilio Charles Jr. had minor surgery on his hand, which takes him out of action for a week. Taking his place will be Brazo de Oro.

NJPW’s Ryusuke Taguchi will now arrive in Mexico on 02/07 (next Monday.) He’ll at least start out teaming with Okumura. CMLL.com already wants to call them the new Ola Amarilla (Yellow Wave.)

Ricky Marvin is in Mexico between tours, and will be on a 01/29 Acapulco show. He’s expected to be on a few CMLL shows before going back to Japan on 02/15.

Vampiro is due back in for the 02/11 and 02/18 Arena Mexico shows.

Mistico beat Ultimo Guerrero in Puebla. The referee gave the match a 10 – a tape source for Puebla would be mighty helpful right now.

Dos Caras Jr. is headed to AJPW for the Giant Baba shows, from 02/25 to 02/28. (Ovaciones, fishing for a comparison to Baba, comes up with Blue Demon.) He’ll also be in Korea for a show on 03/20.
