title change

on 10/13, at the usual Arena Coliseo show, Universo 2000 beat Mr. Niebla to win back the CMLL Heavyweight Title. This is Universo’s third title reign.

Niebla won the title from Universo back on 04/18, and outside of building to a quick rematch and scattered one off defenses, nothing much was done with the title. They appeared to be building to a Vampiro/Niebla match for quite some time during Vampiro’s injury – the current television reflects this – but it never seemed to happen when Vampiro returned.

This is a far a shorter title reign than previous ones. Wild guess is Universo getting it back might have something to do with him losing the mask.

Recap #152

My plan was to have new episodes up on Monday night/Tuesday from Saturday on out. So, this is up on Wednesday. Still need to get the kinks out.

Anyway, as two matches existing solely to build to other matches, this was a perfectly acceptable show. The Santo/Agauyo trios match was better, but duh.

I really dug the comeback tease in the second match, and wish the internal match structure wouldn’t always be as straightforward as it usually is.

#151

Caught up for the first time forever! Helped by having back to back good shows! Hurt by being a Quixotic quest for a title history and watching someone finish fifth (of 275) in a 7 card stud tournament!

I’m all caught up for TWELVE WHOLE HOURS! YAY.

don’t want to be right

So, I’m debating KrisZ (well, he doesn’t actually know) about how many sons of Pierroth have infected CMLL. Because it’s sounds like two full grown people to me, but KrisZ says:

4. Apolo Dantes/Black Tiger/Universo Dos Mil defeated Shigeo Okumura/Pierroth Jr./Vampiro in 10:50. Everyone pinned Universo at 2:12. Apolo & Universo pinned Pierroth at 7:00. BT used the Death Valley Driver on Okumura, Vampiro walked out on his team, & Hijo del Pierroth Jr. & Pierrothito ran in to help Pierroth for the DQ at 10:50. 10/01 Arena Mexico Results, LW

Pierrothito is the Mini, which would be an odd person to run in but it is the Boricuas. Box y Lucha might bail me out:

but, I think there might be perspective issues on that camera shot. I kinda hope there are, because that’s gonna be an awful trios when they finally get to Pierroth/Pierroth/Pierroth.
