CMLL Line - 11/15/03 (#102)

1 Black Tiger (c?), Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero vs Negro Casas (c?), Perro Aguayo Jr., Vampiro
08/22/03, Arena Mexico
71
3 trios 3:43 Rey low blow kick Perro
Ultimo inside cradle Perro
good action given one fall

Notes: A Ras De Lona - 3rd Fall.

Long look at the ring girl. I think I forgot to mention last week that Rey's gone back to black hair. Vamp's still blond.

We look in on the match to see GdI working on Casas in the ring, while Tiger is beating up Vampiro on the outside, and Aguayo is on the ramp, half out of it? I think. Casas gets a clothesline, then a double boot to take him out of the ring. Tiger talks to the camera, but the camera pans away from him - ha! We get a phone number and hype for the 9/19 anniversary show - they always give the date hype, but never give out a phone number to preorder. Was that the show Meltzer was talking about an astounding percentage of tickets were presold (as that's not the usual way)? Because this ad - and we'll see it multiple times tonight - could help explain. Aguayo is brought in the ring now - whip, back elbow from Ultimo, and Aguayo is back up. Rey doing his taunt, as Vampiro is brought in by Tiger. Corner whip for Vampiro, Tiger whipped in, but Vampiro ducks out of the way of Tiger's splash, side steps Ultimo's charge (he ends up clotheslining Tiger) and boots Rey. Big boot for Ultimo, spinning side kick to the chest for Tiger. Vampiro with a punch to the head but is slow following up and somehow loses momentary advantage here - Tiger with a headlock, shot off, under Vampiro's leapfrog, shoulderblock knocks him down, cover for one, shoulderblock, cover for zero, Tiger clothesline misses, Vampiro spinning side kick to the chest is cost and Tiger drives an elbow into Vampiro's knee. Dropkick takes Vampiro out, and Tiger goes out after him. Casas and Ultimo in and hitting each other with clotheslines. Ultimo is staggered briefly but still standing, as most do with this spot. Casas stumbles around the ring like a drunk man for 15 seconds, eventually needing to put a hand to keep him up before going to one knee, and giving time for Ultimo to recover and taunt. Casas open hand slap, Ultimo chop. Corner whip, Ultimo charges in and hits a clothesline, holding him there for a clothesline for Rey. Aguayo in, Ultimo misses a clothesline, but Rey has double leg takedown - till Aguayo kicks Rey away, over the top rope and to the floor! That was a crazy bump. Ultimo goes out almost nearly as dangerous but we don't see how. And now Aguayo and Casas are both doing the apron dive Thesz Presses - we only get to see Aguayo's. Casas must of almost crotches himself, the way he's walking. Vamp and Tiger back in the ring. Tiger with a hard forearm smash to knock Vampiro down, but he's back up with a crushing forearm of his own. Vamp with a headlock, Tiger reverses to a back suplex. Vamp's actually the first to get to his knees, but Tiger is the first moving. Off the ropes, tosses into an overhead belly to belly by Vamp. Tiger's legs brushed the bottom rope on that one. They're both taking a moment to get up - Tiger with a kick, but Tiger blocks it and pushes the leg onto the middle rope. Vamp is left open, and Tiger kicks a questionably blow kick - everyone decides it was hamstring. Tiger pushes Vamp into the ropes, and Rey comes back in with a slingshot Stunner hold, keeping Vamp in position for a dropkick to the head. Vamp out of the ring - Tiger with the double jump plancha! The other four all in the ring now - standoff. Tag champs off the ropes, clotheslines, tecnicos barely move. Again, again barely move. Lots of yelling by Casas and Aguayo. Third time - but Casas and Aguayo ambush them with clothesline of their own. Both pairs (Rey/Perro and Casas/Ultimo) of wrestlers do sequences of moves at the same time, but the latter transfixes me for the wrong reasons. Casas with a whip, and the usual dropkick to the knee. Everyone know this means he's doing a Majistral next, and Casas does go for it - but Ultimo doesn't roll over, just stays there on his knees. First time I saw it, I thought Ultimo or Casas just totally goofed up, but if you watch it twice, you can see that Ultimo actually grabs Casas' leg to prevent Casas from going over. It's almost too subtle. Anyway, Casas moves on, off the ropes, then pauses for a second to wait for Ultimo to get up (which is probably a mistake but made me think the last part one was one too), Ultimo up and gets a double leg takedown. Casas puts on a Sharpshooter, and our attention is drawn to the other pair. Rey's been backdropped and slammed into position by Aguayo, and Aguayo heads for the turnbuckles. Aguayo goes up - and gets a massive negative reaction. Either this is a "Moooooose" thing, or they really don't want him doing his dad's stuff. Top rope stomp misses because Rey moves out of the way, low blow kick! Ultimo's somehow ended up with an inside cradle (the only two people watching that exchange were the referees), and everyone counts - one two three. (3:43) And that's why they're tag team champions. Rey celebrates with the rudo bellringer. Replays - I don't think they have an angle of Casas's dive. Perro Jr. really sold that low blow, jumping high in the air. Casas was trying to point out what happened when he got rolled up, it seems. Looks like everyone is brawling again as we come back, but that's all we get of this today.

2 Pierroth Jr. (c), Emilio Charles Jr., Bestia Salvaje vs Universo 2000 (c), Mascara Ano 2000, Violencia
08/22/03, Arena Mexico
55
1 trios 2:48 Pierroth DQ (pulled Violencia's mask) not a good sign when a five minute fall feels much too long. Crowd digged it far more than I did.
2 4:54 Violencia low blow kick Pierroth
T 7:43 Violencia (2-0)

Notes: Taliban do not get a separate entrance. The ring announcer gets cut off in mid introduction for the second team. Pierroth comes out to the ramp to beat Violencia (with a little help from his seconds). Sadam and Nitro hold him for Pierroth to hit, and mini Pierroth hands over a big pole (too tall to be a flag pole - also, no flag) for Pierroth to choke out Violencia with. Violencia is thrown in for Emilio to knock silly with a punch. Are we getting an opening whistle here?

Brawl is on to start. Rudos are in control. Is Pierroth going to wrestle in khakis? And they're not even camouflage? Universo held in the ring to be beat. Emilio slowly up, but lands the missile dropkick when he gets there. Mascara's turn for the slow three on one brawling. Emilio slams, Bestia hits the rolling senton on him. Violencia in, and it looks like he's all Pierroth. Whip, backdrop. Set up, pause, back suplex. Double whip, double clothesline, Bestia adds an elbow drop. Pierroth suplex! Going for the mask! Violencia straining to hold it on, but that's taking great effort - and Pierroth rips all the way off! No attempt to conceal by Pierroth (plenty by Violencia, of course) and this fall is over. (2:48) Pierroth didn't rip it off, he yanked it off -it may still be complete in his hand. Replay of the mask pulling - I think he broke the front as he ripped it off. Violencia was covering up as it was yanked, so we don't get a shot of the face, but Violencia might need a replacement for this to go on.

We come back with the rudos still in control, and Violencia still down. Doesn't look like he's gotten a replacement one yet. Baby Richard helpfully rolls him out of the ring so he can try and do something. Slow brawling on the capos here. Gives time for a phone plug. Pierroth gets the belt from CGII - shots for Mascara, shots for Universo. Maybe she took so long for the belt and that's why they were all going so slow for a while. Pierroth walks up the ramp with the belt - did Violencia go up there? Doesn't look like it. Pierroth takes a seat under the stairs, still with the belt. I bet Violencia got to the back when we weren't watching and Pierroth is just hiding up there to ambush him when he comes back. Taliban are still in control two on two, mostly because Universo is recovering outside the ring. Okay, here comes Violencia in a new mask, and Pierroth is sneaking up behind him - or will once he get the belt unstuck from the stairs. Commando Girl distracts Violencia, stopping him on the ramp, while Pierroth approaches from the other side - belt to the back, belt to the back. CGII holds Violencia for Pierroth to hit - swing, miss, and Commando Girl gets it across the chest. Violencia gets the belt and starts beating Pierroth with it - and the comeback is on. Taliban are cleared out of the ring and Pierroth is brought in for a three on one beating. Tecnicos bend Pierroth over and pull up his shirt to expose his back - belt shot by Violencia. Mascara gets a turn. Universo gets a turn. Pierroth manage to escape out of the ring, and it's Bestia's turn to take the same punishment. He only gets one shot before they chase down Emilio trying to escape up the ramp. Belt shot for his back. Violencia's team celebrates - looks like Baby Richard is finally confiscated the belt. Pierroth argues something with the commissioner as Universo eventually gets the better of Bestia. Dropkick sends Bestia out, and Universo flattens him (and almost lands on his head) with a apron dive Thesz Press. Pierroth and Violencia in - Pierroth pausing to annoy the crowd and to side step Violencia's dropkick. Strike battle- Viol ducks and hits move. Corner whip, corner clothesline, corner whip, corner clothesline, corner whip, corner clothesline, Abdominal stretch with a hand on the back of the neck - and Emilio breaks that up with a boot. Mascara tries to dropkick him, but Emilio moves out of the way. Emilio with open hand slaps, but Mascara ducks one and Bestia takes it. Will this fall end already? I'm just waiting for the Pierroth DQ. Mascara managed a hiptoss, but Universo missed the top rope splash, and Bestia misses a rolling senton him. Skip ahead ten seconds to Mascara having an abdominal stretch on Bestia, and Universo teasing a Tombstone on Emilio - that draws all the attention away from Pierroth and Violencia. Pierroth's low blow kick is avoided, Violencia hits one of his own from behind, off the ropes, clothesline, Universo safely drops Emilio forward, ref counts Violencia's pin, one two three. (4:54) Capos threaten Commando Girl and she tries to talk here way out of it before making an escape.

Violencia get the microphone. He does a lot of evil laughing. Since he's gotten the win two week in a row, Violencia knows Pierroth is not invincible - so Violencia challenges Pierroth to a hair/mask match! Big cheers. Pierroth says if the traitor wants to loose his mask, and the fans want to see one of their own lose, he'll be more then happy to do it. Violencia, who was leaving, comes back to beat on Pierroth a little more.

Momentos Esterlares
El Tecnico - Rayo Tapito Uno uses a nice top rope cross body
La Combinacion - Alan Stone with a tope, then Chris Stone with a better one.
La Llave - Lizmark makes the mistake of trying a Rock Bottom on Ultimo Guerrero; fujiwara armbar, tap out.
El Lance - Ricky Marvin nearly kills Zumbido (and more himself) with a double jump corkscrew plancha.
Lo Doloroso - Halloween takes a header into the bottom rope. That's put the o in ouch

Vignette: Terrible meets Mascara Magica at the salon. Shocker told Terrible that they were going to prepare for his match, but this doesn't look like a gym. Mascara explains they're preparing other things today - like the hair, as we see Shocker's getting done. You always have to beat at your best - 1000% Guapo. And from the looks of it, Terrible could use some help from Shocker's stylists, so they get to work on him. Terrible's sure not sure how this will help beat Tarzan Boy, but Shocker says it's a secret.

Dr. Alfonso Morales hypes the next match (and serves as a background to list upcoming shows), next to an awesome looking 70th Anniversary Poster.

3 Tarzan Boy vs Shocker
08/22/03, Arena Mexico
88
1 trios 2:57 Tarzan arm/leg/headscissors  Lacked the time or many near falls to put this into a must see category, but it hyped up the hair/hair match something good.
2 1:19 Shocker inside cradle with tights
3 5:22 Shocker circuit breaker
T 9:38 Shocker (2-1)

Notes: Tarzan comes out to his Metallica music. Shocker comes out to his club music an wearing his Matrix jacket. This is not hair/hair. Shocker seems intent on killing irregardless. Shocker won't go in the ring until he's ready to fight, and Tarzan greets him with an open hand slaps. Shocker backs into the ropes and comes back with a forearm to rock Tarzan. Running big boot as the match officially starts.

Tarzan takes the impact of the boot and slides out. Shocker after him with a sliding dropkick but Tarzan steps away and turns to the crowd. He apparently thought Shocker held up in the ring, because he's surprised to see that Shocker is standing behind him - and the chase is on. Tarzan turns as soon as he gets to the ramp, and forearms Shocker as he cashes him. Stomping and kicking Shocker's back as he lays on the floor. Open hand slap and forearms knocking Shocker into the personal space of the front row patrons. Forearm, and Shocker's thrown in. Open hand slap. Choke on the top rope by Tarzan. Whip, dropkick to the knee by Tarzan doesn't look at all - Shocker sells it as crippling, but doesn't do the flip. Tarzan off the ropes, another better one to left hip. Stomp. Picking Shocker up by the bad leg, then tripping the other leg out, and finishing with a legdrop on the bad left knee. Open hand slap. Forearm. Grabbing the leg leg again, and puling Shocker across the ring. Shocker's left leg is wrapped over the second rope, Tarzan stuns him with a chop, then goes out to the apron to nail Shocker with a forearm, knocking him backwards and wrenching the knee. Tarzan stomps the knees as it hangs on the middle rope until Baby Richard frees him. Richard checks if Shocker still wants to go on, and he does...

Hace Una Dias: Tarzan used a low blow, Shocker used a low blow, and it's always the second man who gets caught. This time, I notice the man in the crowd who was so thrilled with that decision, he crotch chopped multiple times.

Back live, Tarzan with a corner whip, reversed, Shocker clothesline in and bulldog out! Haven't got to see him do that in quite a while. He's pumped, but a bit one legged. Tarzan up and open hand slapping. Shocker backs off, Tarzan charges, and Shocker tosses him face first in the corner. Shocker charges, big boot is ducked and gets caught on the top rope! Tarzan sweeps out the other leg, knocking Shocker hard to the ground. Shocker rolled to his feet, armbar on the left arm, Tarzan hoods Shocker's left leg with his right, Shocker is taken down to his knees, Tarzan reaches over Shocker's body to grab his right arm with his own and rolls forward for the wacky one arm/one leg/head scissors combo submission. Shocker can't do anything but tap. (2:57) Replays, and quick break.

Tarzan is working on that left leg as we come back - kicks, and a jumping stomp. Shocker tries to turn to protect the leg, but Shocker keeps on stomping it. Shocker tries to get up, Tarzan forearms him down. Tarzan incites the crowd before whipping Shocker. Shocker manes to come off the ropes while limping but right into a big spinning spinebuster. Tarzan is saying it's over - figure four? Shocker kicks out of the spinning toe hold part. Tarzan right back on him to try it again, but Shocker boots him away once more. Shocker stands, charges, ducks the clothesline, big boot (right leg.) Shocker still limping as he charges, and another big boot. Shocker takes a second to listen to the crowd. Off the ropes, big boot is ducked, Tarzan reaches down to grab the left leg, Shocker goes over the top and grabs an inside cradle (with tights) one two THREE! (1:19) Tarzan can't believe it's three. This girl in the crowd the camera really seems to like seems content. Replay - Shocker DID pull the tights. He almost ripped the rights. Lots of replays because that was a nifty move by Shocker. Richard was shielded by the tights pull by Shocker's body.

Third fall bell rings, but Shocker is outside, trying to walk some life back into his leg. Tarzan is content in keeping him out there for the time being. Shocker back in - Tarzan gives him a free pass. Off the ropes, over, under, Tarzan tries a hiptoss, Shocker blocks it, shot to the gut, short clothesline! Shocker's right misses, Tarzan grabs a waistlock, Shocker tires to back elbow out of it, no go, Shocker tries to grab through his legs for Tarzan's, but Tarzan grabs Shocker's hands and flips him over. Tarzan off the ropes, legdrop! Tarzan is too cocky to cover, waiting to do more. Tarzan misses a clothesline on Shocker, Shocker with an open hand slap. Whip, clothesline misses, armdrag on the next pass works. Now Tarzan is slow up, but charging with fists as soon as he is. Right blocked, left blocked, Shocker shoves Tarzan down and grabs his legs - slingshot out! Shocker double jump plancha to the floor! Both of them are getting counted out now - up to diez as we take a look at the replay. Shocker is up but he's trying to get his breath. They both get in time - Shocker must've broke the count at some pint there. Crowd shot - clip here? Shocker grabs Tarzan in a Oklahoma Roll one two NO. Both are tired. I'm pretty sure that was a clip. Tarzan is relaxing in the corner as the crowd chants for Shocker. Corner whip, reversed, Tarzan follows in closely with a clothesline. Slam - is Tarzan going up? Ever so slowly. He tells the crowd he's got a plan, he's up as soon as Shocker is, missile dropkick! That's as close to his move as we get here! Tarzan crawls over to cover one two HE PULLS Shocker UP! He's insane! Another slam for Shocker, and Tarzan is slowly going up again. Another? Tarzan jumps - and Shocker dropkicks him on the way down! Shocker is up, limping, but going on with the crowd's cheering. Suplex, and now is Shocker going up? He's saying he's going to do a flipping thing - but the crowd doesn't like the idea. Shocker starts climbing, but turns around as Tarzan gets up - second rope missile dropkick. Shocker waits for Tarzan to get up - Tarzan desperation clothesline is ducked an Shocker throws Tarzan Down by his hair. Now Tarzan is lifted up by his hair - and thrown back down. Shocker is waiting for Tarzan again - clothesline caught, Shocker feeds it through to the Circuit Break reinera! That's it! (5:22) Shocker is tired, but happy. And he heads out of the ring - does he have something to say.

Shocker thinks that now that he's beat Tarzan, he's earned something. A hair/hair match vs Tarzan. Tarzan out to give his side. Tarzan says he's the better, but just to prove that, he'll do it - hair/hair. Does Shocker want to do it now? Well, too bad - Tarzan wants to do it at the anniversary show. They exchange non-compliments, and the match is on.

Next Week: Rayo Jr., Shocker, Vampiro, Atlantis, Dr. Wagner, Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Pierroth, Violencia, Emilio, Bestia, and much more.

Looks like all the members of both groups have come out to back up their men, and prevent anything further from going on. And that's it.

Rating: Bases on the quality of the finish, ring work, internal/external storyline, consistency and my whims. Also, various other (random) factors that I can't think of right now. 0-100 for matches.

Breakdowns: 3 Matches (21:04) about 32.4% of showtime (1:05:00)
Average Match Rating 71
Overall Match Rating: 3
2 Trios, 1 Singles
2 Tecnico over Rudo wins, 1 Rudo over Tecnico wins
Show Assessment: Tarzan and Shocker work good together.

Closing Notes:

1. Though we got no post match, they were obviously setting up GdI/Perro/Casas and Tiger/Vampiro programs.
2. Perro has kinda taken the place Santo had with Casas; tough to live up to but could gain a lot from
3. Fans really wanted to see Violencia beat Pierroth, and didn't seem to be near as convinced as I was that Violencia was going to lose the moment he challenged for that match
4. Hair/Hair match didn't air in Mexico, so this is probably the singles high point of the feud that we'll get to see.
5. Interesting that Shocker spent much of the late spring-summer without anything to do, and now has two back to back high profile programs.
