CMLL Redux Line - 07/28/02 (#-6, Originally 07/30/01)
Hey look, we skipped backwards again. Better not to have huge gaps, I guess, though I wasn't opposed with the idea of being totally done with this.
Thanks to: Robert Ortega for the original format.

Vignette: Rayo de Jalisco Jr. runs! And runs! And runs! And you get the idea! He's training for his big (non-title?) against Universo 2000 - and is nice enough to stop to cut a promo. You know, I think they use fast motion to make it look like he's really running. This is for Perro! Check out that Dallas Cowboys jacket.

Notes: Universo does not bring a belt with him, so I guess this is non-title. Scorpio Jr. is his corner man. Rayo's corner man is - well, instead, we watch Universo boots Rayo when he tries to get in the ring. I don't know what this is with Rayo, actually. Rayo is slow to enter the ring - now he's up, side stepped a boot, and turnbuckle smashing Universo. Off the top rope - cross body! Clothesline. Clothesline. One no. Universo shoulderblock, off the ropes, but Rayo off the ropes and hitting him with a reverse tope. Repeated headbutts. Rayo up with a headlock, shoved off into the corner, off the second rope reverse tope one two three (:42) The announcers are talking to someone's kid. Replays show how confusing this match can be - you've got two tall but somewhat fat guys, wearing the similar tights with the same colors, and similar masks.
Let's take a moment to note that referee - who was posing for pictures with Rayo and Scorpio before the match - is actually wearing a Black Syndicate/Capos shirt. I think he just might be a rudo. Universo taunts the crowd, then walks into a running headbutt. Rayo misses the dropkick, Universo with slaps and kicks. Snap mare, and now it's time to rip the eye hole. Knee to the head. Announcers are disgusted with the referee. They're outside now, and Rayo gets his hat smashed into the ramp. Universo does it again. Celebration. Why don't you go in the ring and get him counted out? Again into the ramp - this team the referee was busying himself with the corner people. Rayo whipped into the ring. Rayo thrown in. Universo in. Ripping at the mask. Now the referee walks the length of the ring to tell Rayo's corner person to stay put - just so happens that Scorpio is working over Rayo's legs from the outside in the meanwhile. Rayo's crotched on the post. Universo pulls him out, then whip him - jumping clothesline. Universo struts! Pumping both fits! Corner whip, charge in with a knee. Right. Celebration. One fist pump. Universo's have a grand time. Corner whip, reversed, Universo comes up into a hiptoss. Universo with a shoulderblock, off the ropes, Rayo goes for a monkey flip but Universo just sits down and grab the rope - one two three. (2:47) Tied up. Replays. The rudo announcers - not the normal one - is complementing Universo's on his intelligence right there.
Looks like Universo is beating Rayo during the fall break, but we take a break first.
We come back, and the fall is already in progress - Rayo has a pin, one two no. Rayo with a dropkick to take Universo out, and now he's going all the way up - PLANCHA. Both men are down. Scorpio is over and talking to Universo - let's watch a replay of that big fat plancha. Rayo's back in, but the referee is warning Scorpio not to help Universo in. Inconsistent count by the referee - now he's going kinda fast. Universo pulling himself up on the apron, now reaching a hand inside - and the referee pulls him in! Well that's not quite unbiased. Rayo charges with a knee lift, Universo moves, and Rayo hits the corner. Cover one two no. Universo with a slap, now battling for a gut wrench but I guess Rayo blocks it - elbow tot he back. Now Rayo loads Universo up - TOMBSTONE? No, the ref yells at Rayo's corner person and Scorpio is in to break it up! Rayo turns to face Scorpio, who drops off the apron, and then turn right around to take a low blow kick from Universo! Universo is thrilled. He lets everyone know. The referee is still busying himself with Rayo's corner person and isn't there to count though - low blow uppercut! Everyone's in pain and Rayo throws an arm over - referee turns around one two three. (2:43) Scorpio can't believe Rayo won with such blatant cheating. Post match, Rayo throws out a mask vs mask challenge.
Spectacular Moments - Wow, this is early. That guy nearly blows his dive. Alan Stone with a rope assisted somersault plancha on Guerrero De Futuro. A midget dives and ends up in the second row! Satanico sneaks in a low blow on Universo, that seems right. Hey, nice tope Apolo.
Vignette: Los Guapos prepare for their match - by getting their nails done.

Notes: Emilio's girl/stalker runs up to Emilio as he's coming down the ramp and asks him to sign her program - security start to pull her back but Emilio stops them, signs, and gets a hug. Tecnicos come out to "Walk this Way" by Run DMC, which flips me out. I like Tiger, I like Niebla, but I'm not doing another Guapos match. Black Tiger does some nice Kung Fu Fighting, capped off with an enziguri. Fall graphic is huge this time for some reason. Everyone acts like Emilio lost a tooth on that, though I thought it was just gum. Second fall is your beatdown fall. Lat fall. The announcers, perhaps as bored as I am, bring up Latin Lover out of nowhere. Tiger's hitting the trio moonsaults - last one misses. Tinieblas with a tall pescado. Tiger with a springboard somersault bodyblock. Down to Niebla and Emilio. Lots of dancing, of course. Niebla Moonsault misses and Emilio gets the armbar submission. Wow, clean. That's odd. Talking afterwards but I'm not paying attention.
Vignette: Ultimo Guerrero, in a dark (yet red lit) basement somewhere, promises that his Nuevos Infernals are the real Infernals.

T | 6:58 | Satanico (2-1) | short |
Notes: Mephisto is there, with his arm in sling. Satanico gets a microphone, taps to see if it's on (no), and gets punked out before he can say anything. That was kinda funny. I think he was just going to introduce Shocker as their partner, since he's not out yet. The graphics from the last break gave it away, though. Ultimo's side beats on the other - extra attention is given to Mephisto's bad shoulder, and Satanico gallantly covers him up to prevent further damage. In the ring, Mascara Magica is beating up Averno. Ultimo and Satanico are exchanging punches - Satanico retreats to urge Mephisto to the back. Satanico is beat down the ramp to the ring. Ahh, Shocker's finally here - just in time to kick Rey off the ramp and into the crowd with a big boot! Stomping and kicking for Ultimo on the ramp. Now he's heading to the ring and right for Magica. Rights hands. Rey thrown hard in the ring. Shocker gives Magica a dropkick. The tide is turned and now it's Satanico's side doing the beatdown. Magica and Rey are whipped into each other. Shocker and Averno try that again, but both whips are reversed and Averno and Shocker run into each other. and they get it. This leads into some not-good looking spots from Averno, Shocker, Rey and Magica - Shocker ends up hitting an elevated dropkick on both of Ultimo's partners, then boots Averno for a high plancha on Magica - tope on Rey! Satanico and Ultimo in - Ultimo with a clothesline, off the ropes, miss, and right into a Satanico knee. Another. Standing figure four cradle - one two three. (2:38) Satanico goes on beating Ultimo for a while anyway.
Fall 2 starts with Magica being caught in the ring along against his enemies - big flapjack. Averno goes for the mask as Shocker and Satanico block off the help. Averno drags Magica around the ring by the mask - that's a well constructed mask. Satanico is over to help rip it - I think they broke it open a little bit after some effort. Ultimo in now as Magica is out - double whip, double backdrop. Shocker with a big boot. Big Boot again. Now Satanico and Averno go for his mask - they get a big whole. Shocker takes Rey in a corner and attacks. Now a double corner whip - running back elbow, Shocker goes for an elevated corner clothesline but Rey side steps, then tries a laughably short kick that is totally exposed by the camera but Satanico sells anyway. Ultimo's side is making the comeback - Shocker is clotheslined out, and Rey gets a monkey flip boots from Ultimo for a dive. Magica set sup Averno for Ultimo - OFF THE TOP ROPE REVERSE SUPERPLEX! one two three. (2:11) Man I love that move. Meanwhile, Mascara has the Rings of Magica on Satanico and he gives (2:12) - Ultimo's side takes the fall. Replays.
Third fall starts with Ultimo's side beating down their opponents. Satanico is held in the ring to be beat. Double whip, triple boot (kinda hits.) Shocker in - he gets a chop, whip, double back elbow, picked up for the triple facebuster. Averno tries to make a run but he's quickly over managed - Here's the running elevated sit - no, Magica gets pulled out and posted by Satanico and Shocker. Ultimo tries to make the run instead, but he gets pulled out. Rey's like "hey, where did everyone go?" and starts to beat on Averno, but turns his back and gets dropkick the floor - SOMERSAULT PLANCHA! Magica with slaps for Shocker in the ring, but Shocker keeps taking them - one is ducked and Shocker hits a right hand. Corner whip, corner clothesline, bulldog out? No, Magica kinda falls to the mat before he can do it. Shocker off the ropes, boot is caught, Magica tries a clothesline but it's blocked, Shocker loads up Magica in the Circuit Breaker and that's the end of him. (2:00) Ultimo and Satanico fighting - Satanico hits a spinebuster, armbar with a half crab is good enough enough - Rey is just too late to make the save. (2:08)
In Other Action: Perro Aguayo (w/neck brace) returned, but only for a ceremony to honor him at Arena Coliseo. There's that masked commissioner guy I don't know - hey, checking the results, I can tell you that's Fantasma. Cool. Hugs from various people. I think that's his family there. Rayo's there too - he gave Perro his hat. HEY, LA PARKA! This is the best show ever. No angle so he's not coming back (yet.)
Vignette: In an office, Villano III (w/a Villano) and Signo (w/Apolo and Universo) sign for the hair vs hair match. The Villanos and Signo are in suits - the Capos are in their normal capo clothes (Apolo wearing no shirt), to make this appropriately bizarre. Promos are cut.

1 | trios | 1:53 | Rudos DQ (excessive beatdown) | |
2 | 3:54 | V3 low blow Signo | ||
T | 5:47 | V3 (2-1) |
Notes: All the rudos jump III as he comes in the ring, so Lizmark and Rayo jump them. Still, the rudos seem to get the better of it, though, Signo/III is kinda even. Wagner suplexes Rayo on the floor. V3 I busted open but trying to come back. An announcer lists a bunch of wrestlers - I think they're hyping upcoming shows. The rudos corner V3 in the ring and stomp the heck out of him till he taps, but of course they keep doing it so the falls is over turned. (1:53) They argue, then go back to beating him down.
Before we get the second fall, we look back at a previous Signo/Villano 3 encounter where a Villano ran in to help - and got his brother DQed. What's with that? Probably someone else in a Villano mask. Beatdown goes on for the second fall. Lizmark gets worked over first. Now it's Rayo's turn. Now we've taken a crowd shot, then come back for a normal match. I like when people do silly flips and then pay for it - Lizmark does that here and Apolo kicks him. Lizmark with the Spinaroonie and then dropkicking Apolo out of the ring. Wagner/Rayo. Rayo gets to look very good - headscissors out, dropkick off the apron. Villano 3 vs Signo. Both Villano and Signo have blood on their heads. Villano 3 gets the better of it - DDT is no-sold, though. They tussle out of the ring, and Apolo comes into take care of Rayo. Lizmark helps out as Rayo does a headstand into a headscissors. Cover one two no. Wagner accidentally top rope splashes Apolo, which can't help. Wagner runs right into a powerslam - and there's a superkick to take him out. Lizmark and Rayo hit topes on opposite sides of the ring. Signo and V3 back in. Some guy in black mask with a chair is making his way to the ring - he hits V3! No one notices - well, the CMLL Commish guy who's always ringside notices, but he just takes away the chair as the man in black leaves. Now here's a Villano - and he's hugging Signo? Oh no, that's really a Villano and not just someone wearing the mask like last time - inverted atomic drop low blow, and 3 is rolled on top - referees back in to notice one two three. (3:54) V3 wins after a whole bunch of cheating. Replays.
Next Week: Santo, Shocker, Casas, Panther, Satanico, Niebla, Antifaz, Ultomo Guerrero, Rey Buccanero, and more.
