Haven’t played good much lately, but I finished 13th in my first (I think) Omaha Hi/Lo freeplay tournament last night (only played Omaha in mixed games tournaments and it always killed me till today), which is my best finish in any tournament in quite a while.

Today, I played in a BPP points tournament on pokerpages – 1 point is worth 1 cent, basically, but I was going into a 400 person field and you need to finish 27 or better to cash. Hit a few nice hands, and a couple even luckier ones, leaving me with ~100,000 chips with 33 left; a little below average, but enough that I could’ve put my feet up and cashed in.

Instead, I do the logical thing and bet strong after KK, end up going all in against someone with slightly more cash but a slightly worse hand of JJ…and like it’s supposed to happen 18% of the time, a J showed up and a K didn’t. Missed out on cashing for the first time by only 5 spots.

Kinda mentally stuck on it

Also, after about more than two months of playing, my three real person/29 sim Madden ’05 league got down with it’s first season! In an upset, the Eagles (me) beat the Lions (J) 38 to 34, after getting trounced early in the season, and then went on to win the Super Bowl 48-24 over the Colts (M), as Manning proves he can’t win a big game even in the virtual world.

We’re just starting season 2 – we usually don’t make it past 3 before another game catches our eye or the new Madden comes out – and I’m going to try taking over the 3-13 Cleveland. Once you have a really good team, it’s boring to try again. J’s flipping the Lions (who were completely turned over to begin with – Gannon, Losman and Senace Wallace all saw quality time at QB, and Steven Davis was a MVP canadiate but still sat on the bench the last month of the season due to Trung! going nuts) is switching to the 49ers, just so he can make a whole bunch of moves on a new (and crappy) team.

So it’s been a busy 24 hours, video gaming wise.
