CHC --- (Maddux v LAD Perez)
SDP 1.0 (Wells v CIN Wilson)
SFG 2.0 (Hennessey @ PHI Myers)
PHI 3.5 (Myers v SFG Hennessey )

That was a tough loss.

Really unsatisfactory job by the umpire, as well. Balls over the outer third of the plate wasn’t being called for strikes consistently. Surprised pitchers didn’t give up more runs.

It’s a shame the MLB is again dragging their feet on Hawkins and Wood’s suspension. It messed up the pen use yesterday, because I’m sure Rusch would’ve gotten in at some point, and he’s being held back for a fill-in start if they need it.

This is the Padres time to make a move. They’ve got the easier opponent, and they’ll be gaining a game on someone each time they win.

Odd how it worked out that the four teams still in it keep facing each other in series. After the weekend series breaks up, all of the interdivisional matchups between these four are done, so there’s not another meeting until the Padres meet the Giants on September 17th.

A win today for Maddux moves him into 20th most wins ever all by himself. That’s probably as far as he can get this season, but he can position himself to be in good shape to move to 15th by the end of next season.

15 in 17 tracker
with a win: on pace for 16.9 wins
with a loss: on pace for 15.5 wins

MLB’s Approaching Milestones pitching tracker is stuck “Victor Zambrano needs 1.2 more innings to become the all time Devil Rays leader.” I don’t think he’s going to get it very soon. Bryan Rekar‘s record is safe for now.

Aubrey Huff will break Fred McGriff’s all time Devil Ray AB record with 8 more. Does that make him Mr. Devil Ray?

Watch out for psychotic mass murders today.
