Girardi didn’t matter enough, regardless of how much outrage there is about his Tuesday firing. He wasn’t the reason the surprising Marlins won more than they should have, though he will be incorrectly credited for that, and he wouldn’t have been the reason they lost more than they should have, though he would have been incorrectly blamed for that.

BAM!

Selfishly, I’d like a manager who wouldn’t annoy me (doesn’t even matter if they’re making the actual right moves, just make the moves that annoy me least), but I’m quickly figuring out such a creature doesn’t get a MLB manager’s job.

My entire feeling about the manager search (and the president search, for that matter): get this over quick, and get better players already

  1. This has been a constant topic on his radio show for days now. Dan is a big proponent of “managers don’t mean much” theory. Hell, even players and managers themselves have come on the show to say as much.

BTW, Lebatard’s show (4-7 PM on 790 Am in Miami) is the closest thing to Mr Tony’s show on the air. Which makes sense, since Dan loves TK.

  2. Sweet, I used to like to listen to LeBatard on the ESPN the Magazine show on ESPN Radio early Sunday mornings when I was on graveyards.
