My iPod just followed Moxy Furvous with Johnny Cash. That really should mean something. (Sadly, I think it just means “I’ve got too much time to listen to music today.”)
I’d like to kill my time instead writing something here, but nothing’s coming to mind that isn’t terribly self involved and bullet point-ish. And I’m even so desperate to shave off a quarter of an hour, even that’s sounding like a good idea.
– CRZ said I never said what happened to the Cougars. He’s wrong, I totally had a token line about it one of the Cubs posts, but in case you some how missed it in that oh so popular section: the Cougars and the White Caps were tied at 1-1 heading to Michigan, and the White Caps won two straight to the the series. Game 4 was last Friday, with WM getting up to an early 8-0 lead and my weekend becoming substantially less awesome by about 7:15.
– what WWE.com is actually doing for the Heat Trish-spective
* Trish vs Molly for the 3rd Championship
* Trish photo shoot
* Trish vs Stacy in a Bra and Panties Paddle Match
* Trish vs Mickie from MSG.
Half and half. I don’t think Heat matters enough for someone to be making an editorial point with the third match (just someone thinking “this was HOT”) and picking that one, but if Heat did matter, everyone should look at that and go HMMMMMMM.
– so, like a couple weeks ago, I got an e-mail from TiVo. I usually ignore the mailing list – enough not to actually unsubscribe from it, even! – but this one was actually interesting. They’re releasing their Series 3 HD models soon, and they would like me to buy one, of course. Within the first few months after buying one, I bought the $250 Lifetime Service option, figuring it would work out better long term than the monthly $20 or whatever (and by now, it sure has), and if TiVo every went out of business, it’d take 24 hours for someone to post a hack to still get listings.
They’ve since gotten rid of the Lifetime Service option, because it turns out to be quite the not-good deal for TiVo. But, since they really really want me to get the Series 3, they’re to get Lifetime Series on a new TiVo (and keep it on the old one for a year) for $200. I’m used to the TiVo I have, I don’t have a HD TV, but I was thinking, for $200, it’d be a smart investment.
and then I went to the TiVo website and realized they meant “200 to move the service over from the old TiVo, plus about 700 (!!!) for the new TiVo.” 200 + 700 = a whole lot of money for freaking DVR. I’m still not sure I won’t get it, because if I ever want a TiVo HD, I’ll never get a better long term bargain than this (the monthly fees will kill ya), but that’s a whole lot of money to do basically what I’m doing now.
Especially when I’m trying to think if I want to get the Wii or the PS3 (or both) and have absolutely no idea.
– my current major waste of time is Final Fantasy Tactics on GBA. It’s taking me forever to get thru it for a variety of reasons – I know I’ve logged about 55 hours, I’ve actually spent far more time that, and I’m not sure I’ve reached the 2/3rds mark.
The game play’s fun, if slower than I’d like. The story is exceptionally weak – a character running around shouting “escapism is bad!” and having no reasoning behind doesn’t quite work in the concept of a video game. The game’s been worth having GameFly, because I don’t know if I would’ve thought to get it otherwise, though I probably could’ve ended getting it cheaper on Amazon for how long I’m keeping it. (Monthly fees will kill ya.)
– I’m thinking I should keep writing once the Cubs stuff gets done – I still have no idea if I’ll do it like this next year and probably won’t decide till March – but I haven’t actually decided what to do. I’ve been thinking mostly about doing a biweekly lucha, but I’m not committed to anything yet.
At least your TiVo still works. I’m looking at going onto my third box. I really should call them probably.
