There’s really no reason the Cubs should have taken 2 out of 3 here, and you have to expect this’ll be a game the Dodgers will really wish they had in two weeks.

The Cubs haven’t been winning many of these sort of games, but then, they actually haven’t been winning any games much. By winning this one, they only need to go 4-11 the rest of the way not get to 100, and I think they’re pretty safe there.

LAST PLACE RACE

MLB W	L	Left	GB
Kansas City	57	90	15	----
Tampa Bay	57	89	16	0.5
Chicago Cubs	59	88	15	2.0
Pittsburgh	60	87	15	3.0

I still don’t believe in Wade Miller. I listened to the game, so it’s tough to tell how he was getting by, and I’m thinking this was a one game mirage and counting on him to be starter next year would be an unwise move. (As would be counting on Carlos Marmol.)

Dusty really wanted no one to read into the Howry getting the save thing, but if Dempster’s still supposedly the closer, why isn’t he getting the save?

Haven’t seen an update this morning on Theroit’s injury. Hope it’s nothing big.
