Brewers sink to 73-85
Cubs rise to 65-94

That was fun.

Still, we all know the Cubs are going 1-2 versus Colardo to finish 30 under, right?

There are times where I think Paul Sullivan is a wise man. This is not one of these times.

The Cubs came into Wednesday night’s game with a 2-76 record when trailing entering the ninth inning, a sure sign one of the qualities they lacked most this year was clutch hitting.

Or, perhaps, the problem is they were losing in the 9th inning of 78 games. That’s probably not very good, but we don’t actualy get numbers to compare.

Also, let’s note that if they’re’re 2-76 in games they’re losing in the 9th, they’re 63-18 when tied or ahead (or, they’re 59-12 with 10 games that went to extras.) That seems like that should be better, but again, I don’t know where I can find that info.

Henry’s wilde ride:

AB AVG OBP SLG
April 21 095 240 095
May 22 045 083 045
June 52 365 382 673
July 15 400 471 800
August 25 240 269 400
September 93 301 323 419

I think he’d have even more value if he’d take care of whatever he needs to take care of to avoid the bad starts. (I’m thinking a good free agent contract will NOT fix it, but oh well.)

Hill again didn’t look great as he did early, but 7 IP, 2 R are good enough to get you thru. He’s set for next year.
