I remain unconvinced about Wade Miller. He seems like a guy who’s going to be killed once teams start getting a second look and a good scouting report on him, and I don’t think his success is sustainable.
However, it’s not like there’s a more deserving candidate for a starting rotation spot internally right now. Since everyone else really isn’t better than what I think Miller will end up being, I guess we might as well give him a chance to prove he can keep it up.
(I think this discussion will become moot because someone else more desperate will give him a sweeter deal. We’ll see.)
I remain unconvinced on Ronny Cedeno. He hasn’t real adjusted to second base as well as advertised, and despite his hitting streak, he’s still only hitting 250 with a 276 OBP. I think this sort of hitting is what we’re going to see from Ronny – stretches where he hits everything, and stretches where he looks like the worst hitter to ever play the game. Even if I could stand the up and down nature, the highs are not high enough to be worth the lows.
I remain unconvinced giving Les Walrond yet another start – why not Ryu? why not me? – is not a gross injustice to the rest of the Wild Card teams. This is quite dumb, quite unfair to the Padres and the Dodgers and everyone else, and quite likely a loss.
