I’m in Season 28 in Madden now, of the max 30. The last few seasons have been agonizingly long, despite simming more and losing far less. My RB and my QB (a white right hander named Omar Wilkerson with Vick’s skill set; I’m thinking he’s first generation Yemenese born in Wisconsin) are locked in for the duration, with cap numbers that’d probably screw me over in Season 32. That’s the next guy’s problem.
I’m postponing getting NCAA (which I’m hyper about for the first time ever and shall buy for the first time ever) until I finish, because if I don’t finish before I get another game, it’s not happening. And I’ve wasted too much time on this not to see it through.
If there’s an offseason after 30 – the season numbers turn over at training camp – it’s going to be the quickest off season possible.
I can’t even clearly remember why I’m doing this, except to have done it. I’m not expecting the game to do anything but put a line in Madden, but I can’t 27.33 seasons without finishing it.
What I’ve learned
– never EVER do this
– never EVER do this
– have I made that point clear?
– too many high draft picks can eventually kill your cap
– pick a team you’re willing to move. Unless they fix it this year, no other team will move until you take the first step; there won’t be any interested cities until someone’s out of place, and no one’s moving unless they can get some help from an interested city. Since I’m so far along and one of the goals I invented was “have over a 1 billion in a bank” (I’m at $1.2bil), it’s not worth it to me.
– light poles are kinda cool, kinda weird
– injuries build depth
– let go of skill players a year or even a contract too soon rather than kill your cap
– go after the guys with raw ability and outrageously low awareness, because it’s ridicioulsly easy and safe to build up awareness at non-key positions
– unhappy overqualified backups still play well
I’ve taken a few days off, but I’m probably finishing up this week. I’ll let you know if the game does anything.
