I don’t think Robert’s every played league softball! – or watched the College World Series. (All fine things. To do and to skip.) This sounds to me like an unseeded double elimination tournament. I’m going to skip the randomness, just to make it easier to follow along.

Really, my love here seems more towards ASCII art than touranments, but whatever. There’s some variations and the randomness plays into that. I went out of my way to avoid early round rematches in the losers brackets, and if you’re booking it you can do that.
I’d like to see the match results to figure out what they did.

I myself prefer the old-fashioned one night eight-man single elimination tourneys.
You know, like the Super 8, but good.

You’d have liked the 1996 Torneo Gran Alternativa they did. It was NJPW style like what you drew up for the BOSJ tourney. They even showed the graphic of who was winning every week on TV! That’s a lot of work for CMLL program editors.
