It’s the Royals, they’re not going to damage their playoff chances by keeping Sisco around all year; showing enough in Spring Training to be worth the 162 game roster spot was the real hurdle. I’d be very surprised if he got returned.

  1. I think we’re going to be getting Hagerty back though. I know it’s one of the guys we lost in the rule 5 draft.

I’m still hoping they can figure out a way to dump Macias.

  2. Yea, I posted about Hagerty – yesterday? Yea: http://www.thecubsfan.com/updates/001259.shtml – posting in spurts buries things quickly, I guess.

Given how long it took this same manager to ditch Lenny Harris, and the prolonged sucking it took to get there, it’s inconcievable Macias is going to get released. And even if he is, they’re only going to get another weak hitting IF to take his place.

He’s not really blocking anyone anymore – Richard Lewis isn’t ready and shouldn’t be sitting around waiting to play. Same thing for Cedeno. Mike Fontenot didn’t really prove he was worth the team for the O’s.

The Cubs releasing Macias would be the Cub geek equivalant of Benoit winning the title, I think.

  3. Checking up on it, Haggerty seems to be one of the five extra guys left on camp, with two roster spots left.

Since he was earlier mentioned as out of contention for those spots, yet they haven’t cut him yet, I wonder if they’re trying to make a deal to keep him?

  4. The thing with Macias is that while he’s not blocking anyone, he’s pretty much useless as well. We have Jerry Hairston Jr that can backup second and the outfield (and has taken grounders at third this spring), is a better hitter, and knows how to take a walk, and is better defensively. Macias just sucks.
