  1. I can’t believe the Cubs are trading Sammy! He has done so much for the organization and especially the fans. I believe he is going to have a breakthrough year in which he is his old self(50+hr&110+rbi)again.It does not seem like the Cubs are that committed to winning(back are the days when the Wrigleys were owners.)We have seen some really good players leave, Clement to Boston, Alou to S.F., Grudzelanik to are dreaded arch rival St. Louis. It would have been one thing to have let Sammy go to retain the previously mentioned players but it is like a clearing house and we are not getting anything in return for Sammy! We have a 2nd baseman plus a lot of utility infielders and isn’t the Cubs farm system one of the best in baseball(who are these great minor league prospects we are getting from the Baltimore organization?). I think this trade will haunt the Cubs for a long time to come. The Cubs already had a hard time manufacturing runs to begin with, now that Sammy and Alou are gone how many more runs per game do you think the Cubs are going to score? I’m getting ready for a lot of 3-2 and 2-1 games(similar to the type of games in which Clement pitched in last year). Remember the curse of the Bambino! The Cubs will be or have the opportunity to be competitive in almost every game because of their pithing staff, however if they don’t score many runs those pitchers will not want to pitch for the Cubs in the future. I see the Cubs finishing just above .500 in 3rd place in our division this year. I hold out hope for a World series appearance this year but if that does not happen this year i think it will be at least a decade or two before we even field a winning team. Robert
