6th place out of 800. Sweet!
Thank you to THIS for killing four hours tonight.
My favorite parts of losing
– 90 minutes earlier, I had a guy all-in, beating him on the turn – and he beat me on the river. He doubled up next hand and really turned it around…so he was around 90 minutes later to beat me.
– The guy who went out 9th was still doing the “I can’t believe you played those horrible cards in a horrible situation against my magnificant hand and got a lucky card – I am BETTER THAN YOU, the game shouldn’t allow me to LOSE TO YOU” fifteen minutes later when I was out and tougher beat (had As vs 4s, till a K paired him up on the river), so I got to be the bigger man.
Having gotten into a phone conversation with someone who was talking how crazy I was to play in a tournament starting at 12:30am (I haven’t been able to play in quite a while and I have no real plans for Saturday) and semi-sarcastically told me to text message him instead of calling him when I did well was the best part of finnishing sixth. I HOPE THE BEEP WOKE HIM UP.
I think this was better than the Bulls/Heat game I went to tonight (never got the lucha info, had free tickets), if only because the game highlights were
– KIRK! blocking a Shaq layup in a play you’ll never ever see again
– My pick in the Inflatabulls race straggling in third till the last leg, deciding to Go All Out, making up massive ground, then blowing out his (inflatable) ankle and collasping in a heap. It was like watching someone run at full sprint and suddenly suffer a horrfying knee injury, without the pain.
– the Lovabulls going out to center court to do the your typical Arbaian dance – and the PA guy never playing the music they wanted and getting half booed off the court.
They’re half booing Curry and Chandler now – maybe more at the end, but we got out of there. Curry getting hurt and barely playing in the second half was critical – he’s the only things that passes for a center around these parts, which doesn’t work to well against Shaq.
Also not working well against Shaq: Chander’s one low post move. And Curry’s one low post move.
I’m sorry I missed it, I was indeed asleep. I have let you down. Also, once again I am jealous.
You didn’t miss the lucha shows… they are tonight in Cicero and tomorrow in Aurora.
This is what happens when I don’t check chicagowrestling.com often enough. Thanks.
The problems now are
– Cicero remains a crime filled/mafia controlled Scary Place To Live And Work And Exist
– I am obligated to do some stuff on Sunday which I can move around, and told other people I’d do stuff with them, so it comes down to “Villanos” or “NFL Sunday Ticket.”
life is TOUGH
I’m totally going now. Yay.
Even though you were the bigger man, how tempting was it to just tell him “You still lost no matter how great your cards were, so fuck off.”
It’s tempting till you get use to poker places getting beat on tough hands being the being the most ill minded and annoying sore losers in society. Best to avoid at all times.
Shades of Poker Face, Bill.
