tAR5 Implied spoiler ahead.

Update: More than a spoiler now.

Toronto Star Odds:

Brandon and Nicole: 2-1
Chip and Kim: 5-1
Colin and Christie: 10-1
Linda and Karen: 2,000-1

The odds part of an article helping to prim those who haven’t been watching with what they need to know if they’re sucked into a conversation or viewing of the finale tonight. One of their tongue in cheek suggestions is to check out spoilers sites for info on the last 3; if they did, they’d explain the number. (Though the number’s easily explainable the other way.)

I was actually playing around with numbers last week but never posted them. Those are totally off, though; they all couldn’t have finished more than an hour apart between them (it probably felt like forever to Colin and Christie but it couldn’t have taken long in actual time.) And Brandon and Kim finished third and are featuring freaking out the (always misleading) previews, so they can’t be that big of a favorite.

BoDog has actual real lines:

5:7 Chip & Kim
4:5 Colin & Christie
9:2 Linda & Karen
7:2 Brandon & Nicole.

They also can’t be this much of an underdog. They’re all really close! You’d like to say The Best Team Wins, but it’s come down to who can find a cab right away and who needs ten seconds to find a cab.

C&C are nice bets in the Star fake odds, and I’d put money on Brandon and Nicole here.

My finish guess is

1) Chip & Kim
2) Colin & Christie
3) Brandon & Nicole
4) Bowling Moms

I think that’s my heart talking. My head says either Kim doesn’t pull her weight at a critical moment and it haunts them, or Colin beats Chip heads up in a Detour.

Edit: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

The thing with ending in the US has meant everyone gets on the same flight and it’s a sprint from the final airport. Till today. It was still a bit of luck – Chip and Kim only found out of the delay because they were the last one booking their flight, and they only ended up there alone in first because the flight happened to be full, and the other teams happened to check in their bags. They deserve credit for being in the right place, but the downside of this finale has always been people seem to win not because they’re surely the best, but because circumstances favor them.

Luckily, circumstances favored the people I wanted to win this time.

  1. The finale was kind of a bummer with the whole delayed flight situation. It just kind of felt like a bummer that the team that won more or less JUST won because they happened to be in last place at the time.

Though that’s the way the cookie crumbles and I liked Chip’s comment that early on Colin wouldn’t have ended up in a situation like that.

  2. Took ’em long enough for something like that to happen. Although seeing the cruel hand of Taxi karma not decide it was a bit weird.
